Your baseband is your radio antenna and if u want to update it u could flash this.....

http://androidforums.com/transform-ultra-all-things-root/550572-theme-tu-2-3-6-a.html

Bobz kernel is the best and it helps ur phone screen and overclocking

m930 is the model of ur phone

Enjoy.....

One other thing to address now. When I go into about phone I get the following info:
Android version 2.3.4 (doesn't say gingerbread anymore and no 2.3.6?)
Baseband version s:m930.02xEG29
Kernel version 2.6.35.7-g4763763
Build number BobZhome_kernel_v2.1
Hardware version m930.02
Now does anyone feel like taking the time to educate me on exactly what all that means or is there somewhere for me to go to research it?
Oh yeah and when I try to update nothing happens (software or firmware) it tells me no update available or firmware is up to date.

Thanks guys :) my sister and possibly even aunt will appreciate it. Chev I'm getting more involved in editing things so if you want a silent partner to take a load off your shoulders lemme know.

Here ya go chev! something to work with ;)

I think the Ladies should have a theme too if they want it..

anyone can flash this if they like. Chevan will have to take this and theme it fully with quick panel and settings but it's pink

UOT kills our statusbar remember? It works so far on 2.3.6 but we'll know for good if it works whenWe deodex and quickpanel is up and running again.

Started getting a lot of FC's on boot. I'm gonna try reloading from scratch on Wednesday if they don't clear up.

On another note, why are the weather and other crap apps system level? I run the weather channel app and maildroid and would like to get rid of the apps i don't use, but removing them crashes the os... any suggestions?

I believe that all apps are installed at system level so that chevanlol can tweak things on his phone and then create the rom as a backup with CWM. Do do this he would need to factory reset which would wipe all non system apps. This is just a guess but its what I've always assumed.

Is your OS continuing to crash after a reboot? If it crashes before a reboot that is common and to be expected. Reboot and it should be fine.

Where do i go to take apps out of 5.1 before i restore it? I couldn't find the post i saw before about this.
I wish to revert back to 5.1 without useless apps.

I'm not sure I understand. You want to backup your current apps and take them with you to, or do you want to remove apps from an existing backup, so that you don' have to install them? Cause you can't do the second one...

If you want to backup your current apps, I recommend Titanium Backup.

There is a way to remove system apps from a cwm backup. I read it on a forum somewhere tried it and it worked great. I just can't remember where i saw the post.
or what forum

Titanium Backup can restore individual apps+data from CWM backups, but that's the closest thing I know of. If you figure it out, I'd love to know. :D

OK guys so I did the 5.3.1 install and the fc issue seemed to be fixed.....for about a day or so. Its doing it again, not as often as before but its still doing. Any suggestions?

Revert back to 5.1 and install bobs kernel.
This is the best option yet. Only bad thing is all the useless system apps.

Not to sound like a whiny bitch, but.....is there a way to do all these fixes (ota update, oc kernel, baseband update, screen fix, fc fix, etc.) In one shot? Or do I just keep plugging along one issue at a time? Just wondering.

Well the ota update (2.3.6) fixes screen, should not have fc or gps issues, but may have wireless issues. Oc kernal will require cwm and than loading bobs kernal. That would only be three steps unless you wait for the update to 6.0 here.

If your not doing oc for say a game or to conserve battery life than flashing to stock and updating would be best and fix almost all issues except the wireless. I am deciding to wait.

If you can live without the baseband update (I think that is the cause of the issues with GPS & WiFi). Just go back to 5.1 & install Bobz kernel (that had the screen fix before 2.3.6 was released).

You could probably go into the backup, unzip the system.ext4.tar file, & remove whichever apps you want. Then rezip it...but I don't know how wise that would be :D Why not just install the ROM then use Titanium or Toolbox to uninstall the apps you don't want?

well 5.1 installs with root uninstaller. tried it and it wont open (fc's everytime). i didnt think titanium uninstalls system apps maybe it does idk cause im not interested in backing up apps. im also not interested in spending money on a useless app to get rid of useless apps. anyway i went and deleted what i thought was all the files for apps i didnt want with root explorer. it forceclosed all the apps i deleted over and over. at least i always make a backup. is there another app i can get for free to uninstall useless system apps? theres a program called 7 zip for win xp its a file viewer thats lets you open and edit tar files. anyone know where to navigate in the 5.1 nandroid restore files to delete useless apps before i put it on my sd card and restore? also if this possible do i have to unzip, delete apps, rezip, put it on my sd, then restore. or do i delete the apps, unzip, place it on my sd, then restore. i already tried to unzip first, then delete useless apps, then restore and it gave me a md5 mismatch error? i think im on the right track but all i need is a little help chev, mav, loota, or anyone else thats is familiar with what im talking about. thanks for the rom, and anyone that helped build it.

well that sucks. any suggestions without titanium?

You got a MD5 sum mismatch error because when you open any nandroid restore folder and edit something the MD5 sum is automatically corrupt you would have to create a new checksum .Just install 5.1 then open the market and install a file explorer. Navigate to /system/app and delete the unwanted apps and reboot.

What chev said. The md5 hash is found in nandroid.md5 but I've tried editing that by hand unsuccesfully.

I know that everyone is really excited about 5.3 and it coming a little resource use lite but please remember if you used 5.1 before it is no different now. I only say this because the extra apps were a minor complaint back then but it suddenly seems to be a big thing.

Root unexplorer used to fc for me if it was updated. Please try uninstalling any updates to it and rebooting before trying to use it again.

Also the free version of titanium backup will work fine for uninstalling apps if you are uncomfortable doing it in a root explorer but again you would need restart to get rid of force closes. You should assume if you are editing a system file that you will need to reboot to get things to work properly after a change.
