Droid X 2.3 update

Hey guys, I'm running Liberty 1.5, underclocked, ADW launcher, yadda yadda yadda. The problem is, when I flashed the first ROM on my phone, I made the BIG mistake of not backing up the factory version. I've loaded most of the original apps back on, but there are still some I can't find, like Alarm & Timer, Backup Assistant, City ID, NFS, my Accounts, etc. I've searched for these on the market, but of course dozens of similar apps pop up on the search results, so I'm stuck not knowing which ones to download.

If I don't have these on my phone, will I still be able to download the OTA and run the official release of GB?

even if you were to find every stock Moto app that comes installed you would still not receive the OTA because you're running a non-stock ROM...but you will be able to SBF back to stock no problem...

also...the stock Moto apps will NOT be found in the market

I spoke to a Verizon Wireless customer service representative on the phone yesterday regarding my second replaced shitty Droid 2 that randomly turns off and restarts when it feels like it...and I asked her if there were any updates scheduled to come out for the Droid 2 any time soon to fix some of the glitches, and she said no. She only saw the Thunderbolt update, and some kind of tablet update.

I then asked her about the Droid X, just for the hell of it, and she said nothing for either the droid 2 or droid x for the rest of the month is coming out.

Quite honestly, the lack of software support for these phones is pathetic for the amount of hype they get. The Droid 2 has been out since last October..has MANY software glitches that I have noticed, and not one update has ever come down the pipe to fix them.

Anywho, I'm not here to complain. I just wanted to let you guys know that I talked to someone about the update schedule, and the lady said no updates were coming this month for either the Droid 2 or the Droid x.

So, with that being said..I say we start making up a rumor date for next month...June 13th maybe?

Well, I've been running Apex for a long time now. Looks like it's time to go ahead and download gingerbread on my phone. I was hoping for the official but oh well...

The GB update has to arrive some time prior to May 21st. Otherwise any speculation into a release date is pointless. End of the world and all...

Please look back to my rule #1. Reps have no clue about updates unless they come to android forums. I'm not kidding. They can't project what the company doesn't tell them.

No one knows. I know I kid around a lot, but I'll be serious here. It's my advice that folks learn how to root their phones and apply the Gingerbread leak.

:P i ready to give up my tethering for OTA, not the leak that will i'll have to sbf back to get the ota etc :P But i may end up dealing with the hassle because i cant stand waiting much longer :P

Yea, because I talked to a rep yesterday and she said there was an update ready to go at any time for the X.

Since the X2 come's with gingerbread pre-installed I don't see the X getting gingerbread till after the X2 get's released.

Quick question. Since Honeycomb 3.1 is being rolled out for the XOOM, would that have any effect on GB being rolled out for the X? I ask this because I don't know if Motorola would want all that traffic on their servers. Unless they have seperate servers for seperate devices.

I have been skeptical from the get go about GB anytime soon. With the X2 coming out, Motorola wouldn't put their latest and greatest phone out with the same OS as the prior model. I think we'll get GB but it'll be further down the road, maybe 3rd quarter this year.

No question mark this time :)
