Help Hero Maintenance Release

Try removing the battery, then update your profile and see if that helps, and clear HTC sense cache, report back

Menu/Settings/Applications/manage applications/ wait for page to fully load, then click on HTC Sense and see if the cache is available to be cleared, if greyed out then it is ok

Don B. - i've rebooted the phone twice now. no change .

i think this is what i inadvertently did. before i read your reply, i was able to get to the search, typed in settings, and it took me to the settings page! the menu button wasn't even working at the time! i believe i cleared the cache for Sense, because after a reboot, all my home screens were blank. i'm now in the process of re-establishing my standard shortcuts. thanks for your help!

It is the same at this one that was posted in the forums here a week ago, The new software version is: 2.31.651.7 - UPDATED

I just took another update ending in .7. I have no clue as to what it will do.
Anyone ??

I received the message that a new update was available. I selected to download the update and it completed. I clicked on the update in my pulldown menu, it said it had verified the package and I had an OK button. I clicked on OK and.... nothing happened.

I go into my phone settings, and it still says my software version is 2.27.651.6. I did a check for System Updates and it says my phone is up to date. I turned off and on my phone and my software version is still 2.27.651.6 .

I'm not sure why it didn't update, and I don't know how I can get the update to apply. It's sitting on my phone somewhere, waiting to be applied......

UPDATE:

When I went to "Check for HTC Software" and selected "Check Now", it detected that I had the software downloaded and gave me a prompt to apply it. It is updating now.

I thought this was a firmware update, but it is not. It's an HTC software update.

That is correct as posted in many threads thus far, also if you are home and downloading it use your WIFI connection will download faster, good luck

Thanks for the update, I have still not updated as I am still thinking of rooting so I will hold off.

Well, it's been over a week since I got the update and it still running very well.

Updated last night to the "new" firmware that Sprint or whomever sent out...had 32 meg of memory when I did it...Tonight, I am down 44kb of memory...Haven't downloaded anything since then. Phone will not function correctly, force closes everything(this just started about an hour ago)...

Please help before I blow this thing up!!

All emails have been deleted, all texts as well..

After update ... dialer lag is gone, alarm clock issue got fixed and best of all my battery life is about 25% better. I've been viewing task manager alot recently since update and have noticed a fewer programs opening up by themselves. So hopefully its not an anomaly and the improvements stay or get better.

i have been trying for the past couple of days to get this update, but nothing is working. i've updated my PRL, profile and firmware.. but every time i click on HTC software update, it tells me that nothing is available at this time.

my current software version says: 2.27.651.6

and i've tried to restart my phone several times so far, still no luck.

any suggestions?? am i doing something wrong?

thanks.

Well I have been running the new release since it was launched, and I still get occasional dialer lag, but WORST of all, HTC Sense crashes every so often (more than it did before the update), and my battery life is significantly worse than before the update. *sigh*.

These Heros are so inconsistent. I've been running with this MR for a few weeks now and have none of those problems. I'm actually pretty happy with it. Sorry you're not having the same positive results.

If you're still trying to update, you can get the RUU for .7 on XDA.
*OFFICIAL* RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_2.31.651.7_signed_release.exe - xda-developers

It worked for me. I ran it then rooted after.

Curious, my GF has a Hero but is on the Cell South network. She has horrible battery life (but is also on facecrack constantly) and I haven't played with her phone much.

I'm seeing various reports about updates and if the phone works better or not. Thought about rooting her phone to delete some stuff and make it work better.

I just installed 2.31.651.7 yesterday. The update is a little disconcerting... your phone will reboot and then remain locked on the last view of the startup animation, showing "NOW". Now, what? ;) It's too bad they don't have some kind of information to tell you that the phone is processing. I'd thought it had locked up on me. But thankfully I wasn't impatient and gave it time... it eventually completed the reboot. Everything appears to be fine.

The dialer lag is still there, but not as bad. And it's sporadic--sometimes there, sometimes not. Overall, no real complaints. The HTC Sense interface is very quick and responsive.

I still have 1.5 and was thinking about updating. After reading this thread, I'm back to leaving things as they are. Of course I would love my Hero to be quicker and more responsive but I fear the issues some are having after updating. Anyone else have the 1.5 not rooted? If so, what are your issues, if any, with your phone and why haven't you updated?

Should I have rooted? I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to android phone stuff.
