Root i need help with HTC EVO 4g

ok lets try this, we will try and use a ruu to see if we can get a working phone. this will give you a stock rom and stock recovery. so if this will work we can then try and install a custom recovery (amon ra 2.3) afterwards.

here is the ruu:
PC36IMG_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.54.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.0808_NV_2.15_release_220182_signed.zip

do the same thing as with the amon ra file (make sure that you delete this file first), rename it to PC36IMG file. make sure that you do not get the two files mixed up as they will be named the same.

edit: wait your phone can boot up? sorry i thought that you were in a bootloop

edit #2: if argedions suggestion does not work then you can try mine if you like.

Wait I've got a question here I see your telling him to name PC36IMG he does have a zip at the end right? PC36IMG.zip and not PC36IMG.zip.zip or PC36IMG. or no dot

tap on the programs icon superuser will pop up and ask if its ok to give it superuser permissions tap the ok or yes button then in quickboot choose recovery and it should reboot and send you to recovery.
 
ok lets hold off for one second. i think you have gotten confused with what i was suggesting vs what argedion suggested.

so try and downlload argedions idea first before we use the ruu you just downloaded.

download this app from the market and try and use it to go to recovery:
