Root i need help with HTC EVO 4g

ok i have another thought, lets try rom manager (i know, i know. rom manager really sucks at flashing roms so i do not recommend ever using it except for certain things and this is one of them.)

here it is:
ROM Manager

go into it and you can select clockwork mod (which i do not recommend) or select alternate recovery to get amon ra2.3. hopefully this will work.

if not then we can try the ruu.

ok lets hold off for one second. i think you have gotten confused with what i was suggesting vs what argedion suggested.

so try and downlload argedions idea first before we use the ruu you just downloaded.

download this app from the market and try and use it to go to recovery:
Quick Boot (Reboot)

edit: sorry bad link. here you go:
Quick Boot (Reboot)

Good Cactch bro. I am talking on download and you are taling another, We have to all 1 person to have a chances at a time.or atleast make sure we do all we can to avoide these typse o situaations.

This may be a stupid question, but.....do you think his battery has an issue??

i must have missed that post.

well that still does not explain why a custom recovery is not sticking. it could be a separate issue. it could also be that the phone is working hard to install the recovery and using a lot of juice doing it.

my suggestion then is to get a full charge first before doing anything else. do not want the phone to die in the middle of doing something important. that is a great way to brick the phone.

I concur, separate issues. And no,no,no,no to phone dying in the middle of a radio flash!!!
And wow, Rom Manager? Never thought I'd see those words typed as a suggested solution--lol:)

We have plenty of people here to offer advice. You are going to need to give us a little more in explaining whos advice you are following, what you have done so far, and what your exact question is.

Be specific, it can only help us.

ok lets try the ruu then.

1. rename the file so that it is PC36IMG. do not add an extra zip as windows hides extensions. if you computer shows extensions that make sure that it has a .zip attached to it.

2.move the file over to the card and not in any folders, just on the card.

3.power off then press and hold power+vol down to get to the bootloader.

4.select yes to update.

hopefully this will work.

after it updated i tried going into recovery then a red triangle came up so i pulled the battery out powered it and its still doing the same thing [rebooting]

ok well that is one good thing. the ruu worked in giving you a stock recovery which is what the red triangle is all about.

so when you power up, it still randomly reboots?
