My htc evo 4g keeps cutting off every 2 minutes 30 second. I tried going into recovery mode but it just boots up normal.

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!
are you rooted? if so what recovery do you have?

if not then you do not have access to recovery. and to get to the bootloader you will need to disable fastboot, settings>apps>uncheck fastboot.

ok moved you to the rooting section. what recovery do you have? also what are you wiping? you should wipe everything except for sd card and re-flash the rom.

its a rom based off of the 4.24 ota. here is the link:6-11-11 Ti-X EVOLUTION GingerBread OTA Based 4.24 - xda-developers

also i would suggest that you switch to amon ra. it is a much better job at wiping. if you stay on clockwork mod then i would wipe everything 3x before flashing anything.

please read this guide:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html

just skip the rooting process. it has a section on how to flash a rom and also how to switch recoveries.

Hello,

There is a link to the amon ra recovery in the thread right there that he gave you, under the Recoveries section.

PC36IMG_RA_2.3.zip

edit: My time zones are hosed and i have lost track of time. I just breezed by and thought he had been waiting 2 hours for a response and jumped in. :)

Sorry, let me get this fixed, my pc thinks I'm still in Colorado! :)

LOL

feel free to pitch in whenever you can. the more help the better. thanx for the amon ra link dusty

ok not sure what happened but lets see if we can get you a custom recovery and go from there. so go to the switching recoveries section and follow directions there. now you will need to a card reader or somehow get the amon ra PC36IMG file moved to the sd card in order for this to work.

its already there.

ok great make sure that it is renamed to PC36IMG with no extra extensions as windows hides extensions.

1.so make sure that you name it correctly.

2.also make sure that you have the file on the root of the card and not in any folder.

3.select yes to update.

hopefully this will work.
