Root [Kernel][GB] KoumaKernel 2.5

Indeed, GPS confirmed working for me as well with KK 2.3.2. (No Wireless Network assistance, straight-up gps). Thanks Kouma for making our phones working again the way it was with all the advancements done so far by all devs for the Prevail. Making CTMOD back on track, as the premiere mod for our phones.
I was on CM7 b5 for a while until the last 6 days with prl 11115 issues all of a sudden so I switched back to stock rooted to change back to Boost prl.
Then decided to give CTMOD a try again since 2.3 w/ Dark's ap2sd(which I loved) but just like a lot of people here, ended up with the GPS issue. Thanks for being persistent in helping us out and solidifying your rep!
Now to ask Blood why no haptic feedback on softkeys on phone and no custom bootanimation support? Thanks again... Peace, Love and Hair grease!

Regards,

For some reason I just can't get the overclocked version of your kernel to boot (just sits at boot animation forever). I had older versions of kk working, I've used all of hroark's kernels without issues... I've used the overclocking kernels from kato without issue too. I can't figure out what i'm doing wrong.

I even tried beginning with wiping everything, installing the latest cm7, booting to verify functionality, then installing this kernel (both the experimental release and the original overclock one). Still no dice :(

I'm using ctmod 3.3 with kk 2.3 even at 800 mh it freaking rocks lol. Anything higher my phone freezes up. Was trying to ease into it

i'm on ct mod 3.3 with kk 2.3 and was on 2.2oc at 900 so when put on 2.3 i just cranked up to 900 and haven't had any issues. thankd kouma runs great and gps working!!:D

are you on a stock rom? the rom has to be formated to EXT4 for KoumaKernel to work.

if you want to stay stock but use KK try HalfAssRom and then install the newest KK

Done and using KK2.3 at 825mhz....tried 840mhz but would reboot after a minute or so of use...but still SO much faster now!

CM7 beta 5... is this the part where everyone laughs because I did something obviously dumb? lol

(j/k) :P

Cm7 uses different ram disk, kk will not work with it... :)

After a day of non stop locking up i finally figured out it was SetCPU causing the problems. running CPU Tuner at 900mhz perfectly now no over heating no locking up! KoumaKernel Kicks much AZZ!! Kouma you Rock!!

So might be a stupid question but... using the kernel with the SSM mode, do I still have to manually wipe the dalvik using "rm -rf /data/dalvik-cache/* or another way?

Nothing in the OP says anything about manually wiping dalvik, so i'd guess you're g2g. I'm pretty sure if you flash CTmod it wipes all the necessary stuff for you, and the kernels usually don't destroy data between flashes. Also, I think theres an option in CWM under advanced to wipe dalvik if you so desire.

Edit: never mind, I have no clue about SSM. Just going by what i could find.

Check to make sure you're not within 100' of a medical doctor.
and remember, Dr. Mario is not a real doctor, don't take anything he gives you

Of course Mario is a doctor, anyone that explores that many sewage pipes has to be a proctologist.

I've not tested any other way, so I'd hazard to guess yes. If there's a utility that will clear dalvik cache while the phone is operating normally, that should work.

CWM however has no clue that you're using SSM so it wouldn't know to wipe the sd-swap to clear dalvik.

You could take the SD2ext zip from the first post, and edit out the line to format the sd-ext, then keep that handy as a Dalvik wipe CWM zip

Well when the SSM first came out there was a post about having to wipe it manually using the command I mentioned above. And using the advanced dalvik wipe in CWM isn't clearing it for me.
