Root [Kernel][GB] KoumaKernel 2.5

Im a newbie that just rooted my boost samsung galaxy prevail using koumakernal 2.5 and ctmod 3.68.

I have successfully created an sd-partition for my memory, but I was wondering if its possible to create a second partition specifically for RAM?

If so, how would you go about doing this and setting up the second sd-partition for ram only?

Have u read first post? Directions and required apks mentioned there. U can pm me if u still need walk through or have anything u need de-nerdified (sorry kouma lol)

Adding Swap partition involves wiping sdcard n reflashing rom so make cwm backups and save all sdcard files to computer before repartitioning

Basically I followed instructions per: http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...od-rooting-prevail-dummies-written-dummy.html

I have rinsed and repeated so far about 3 times, but basically
Everything is fine up until I actually finish the format sd-ext, after I reboot it stays stuck on the Kouma Kernal 2.5 screen, it's been about 10 minutes so far...
Any advice?

get the boot-log.

do so by getting a copy of the ADB dos utility and running "adb logcat"

if something is wrong, you'll find about 5 to 15 lines that repeat over and over.
those are the first clue to figuring out what may be wrong.

anyways, grab the logcat, put it on pastebin, and link it here if there is a problem. We can help from there

Quick word of advice; when formatting your SD card in CWM, do note how much storage space your SD actually has :p

My SD card is 2GB, so I figured I would try partitioning 2048MB in CWM. My SD only has 1.81GB usable. Needless to say, this doesn't work... So I had to use just 1024MB.

If partitioning the SD card completes within 1-2 seconds, chances are it didn't work.

No wonder you could not partition your 2GB card with the 2048 option !!!!

You are NOT partitioning your whole card, you ONLY create an sdext partition in addition to your FAT partition !!!!! Your card has a 2GB/2048 partition originally, partitioned and formatted with FAT32 !!! If you partition in CWM, you will take space away from the FAT32 to create an " sdext" partition, used for internal memory to be able to install more programs.........So in your case, you can only use the 512 or 1024 optin !!

I want to use KoumaKernel 2.5 and Skater187's rom, Honeybread6. My question is do I Flash the kernel or rom first? I've already partioned my sd-card and Am ready to go in cwm. I tried already with flashing the kernel first then the rom, but I forgot to partition the sd-card the way I wanted it. I had ctmod and Halfass before, but I wanted to try something new. I like HB6 alot when I flashed it before but, I wasn't sure it was on kk2.5 cause it was saying Genocide when I looked with advtools.

Edit: I think I may have found the answer in "Noob's guide to the prevail", rom then kernel. I'm going to try that and see what happens.

Flash the ROM, then the kernel, wipe the dalvik cache, then reboot. :D

Most of the time the Rom first then the Kernel.

Alrught thanks guys, I flashed the rom and I'm going to try it without kk2.5 for a couple of days first I guess to see which way I like it better. So far all I've had to do is clock it back to 900Mhz, other than that this seems to be a great rom, better imo to Ctmod or Har. Just my opinion though, much respect to 'Bloodawn' and 'Koumajutsu' for there roms cause I know a lot of hard work goes into them. Btw thanx for the rom 'skater', I do like it alot so far.

Trying to get data mode to work with newest kk.Can the koumamod under /system be edited like in kk2.2 by uncommenting # next to data?

In the newest version you do it from within the koumamod settings. He made it into an app. No need for a file explorer any more.

Couldnt get it to work so i gave up.Thought if i manually edit the koumamod under /system maybe it would work.Tried everything posted but for some reason no go.Working my way back from what worked.

Flashed kk 2.3 Changed koumamod under /system to data uncommented# on data no go. Formatted sd ext every time.Guess I'll go back to kk 1.2
