We don't really require staying on topic in a prerelease thread, so there's a lot of free form expression as my bros said above.

If we get some real game changing news, we'll likely update the title. :)

Ohhh yeah, some here are expert at that.

So. .. My summing up of this week's phone news....

Ready????

............

Wait for it..................

Here it comes!!!

Booooooooooo....riiiiiiiiiing.......

Ty Ty. No applause just money. :)

Posting because bored -

Take a 720p HDTV and 720p phone.

Sit away from TV until you see no dots.

Hold up phone until perceived screen size is the same as the TV in the distance.

In a magical world where you put up the same 1280

One thing I forgot to factor in, early. Age. At our age? You really don't see anything clearer than black and while TV from the 60's - type resolution. :)

(Now gimme my ghd! Lol)

If technology has always been bound to improve from good to even better, to more numbers to bigger capacity, to more elements, then we shouldn't be too surprise with our phones coming with QHD. Later in years the phone will surely come with 4k screen resolution (with integration for 4k display mirroring, maybe theater, maybe studio.) but your phone will be the console for big display or projectors , displaying massive resolution.

Then we'll see hologram interactive devices as well (if we are alive). Because we sure love technology...

Lmao!

At our age, we can't hold things as close to our eyes as we once could - our eye tissues are tougher, less resilience, less flexible.

Before we'd be likely to see dots, we'd have lost focus.

Younger people have that advantage - they can hold a phone closer to their eyes if they want.

My comfort zone is between 8 to 12".

As you can no longer appreciate your HDTV and I can, please see your inbox for my shipping address.

On the plus side, you have a wonderful singing voice.

God does not give with two hands.

Well to be fair, Apple expects all users to get retinal surgery to ensure their eyes are iCertified, and hold the phone exactly 1.734542 feet away from their eyes (the Holy Steve Jobs hand to eye distance). Perfectly reasonable demands.

Actually, all that they ever expected was that common sense wouldn't kick in with people going, "Duh. It's a tiny screen, that's why it's sharper."

And they were dead right.

They quoted Dr. Ray Soniera - http://www.displaymate.com/about.html - and his math in their claim that their display was "retinal" (fabulous, made up words win over long posts about the truth lmao).

Dr. Soniera immediately fired back in the press that they most definitely did not meet the criteria for what they called a retinal display.

I loved the response I read in comments and even in the press - Dr. Soniera was entitled to his opinion about what retinal is, other opinions are valid as well.

To really appreciate how stupid that is, allow me to present the equation for energy relativity -

E=m^2

Btw - Einstein's idea that a "c" belonged in there was just his opinion, other opinions are valid as well.

Life is easy when you want it to be. And nothing is easier than ignorance.

So anyway - our eyes are far better than what Apple fans think that they are.

In that sense, we actually exceed the iCertification Standard for Spectacular Eyes.

That excellence allows us to use our devices in ways that a magical CEO never would, including breaking the 1.734542 foot light barrier.

Naturally, that's just further proof of our delusional state.

Since there is such a dearth of new information, I'm curious what you all think the likelihood of Sprint offering the 3/32 is. What I know is that they have some exclusive on a 2/16 gold version, and that T-mobile seems to be the only one showing the 3/32 card. My HOPE is that Sprint offers two versions, one priced higher (maybe $249 with a 2 year contract). I know Rushmore's insider is 50/50 that it's going to be exclusive for some time.

Any gut predictions?

I'm on record, my opinion hasn't changed.

3/32 for Sprint
2/16 for the vanity model and their Boost, Virgin Mobile subsidiaries

Short term carrier exclusives are not unheard of - could happen.

u made me laugh. i admit it. :)

Sticking with my original crow eating position:

If VZW does not offer both models they will probably only offer the 2/16. This is due to the micro sd slot and their marketing position of magical expandable storage ;)

The G2 did not have a micro sd slot.

I appreciate EM's post about the 2/16 & 3/32 from some days ago and today, but I do believe in a Big Red monster.

We need Godzirrrrraaa! :)

Added: And No I am not stereotyping in my annunciation of Godizilla........... Godzirrrrraaaa!!!!!

I have a new theory now, due to all the merger rumors, EM.

3/32 for Sprint with both Sprint and T-Mobile radios, including Spark LTE and T-Mobile LTE!...:D Dual CDMA and GSM phone.

I'm awake from my dream now, but that would be worthy of my ditching my Note 3, even if the merger doesn't happen.

THAT would be spectacular!

Now the ancillary question, WHEN do we think it will be released? I'm hoping July 1, thinking early July. If it's after July 20th, they may lose me. Heading on a vacation (that I really want to have this phone for) and I may just be bitter enough to hold out for the new HTC offering with (hopefully) 805.

Actually, Early, I wear contacts for presbyopia. Multi-focals. May I keep my 57" htdv?

I'll say there is a possibility with sprint and tmobile merget

Sorry to be a wet blanket, here, but the merger won't be official until the middle of summer. Whatever is done, is done. They won't be doing anything together (making plans, phones, etc) until well into the actual merger.

Your dreams have a leak, I am having the same sort of dreams lately. :D

No no - I checked the rules and I'm sorry but it's far too late for that.

All your screen are belong to us. :D

I'm really hoping 3/32. 2/16 just doesn't cut it for me.

I'll back you up on that, although it's really hard to precisely spell the dz sound - it sort of includes a soft j sound.

I've seen Gojira as an equivalent.
