Root LTEVO ROOTING FOR DUMMIES {The Complete Guide}

Can anyone tell me what is this below:

it is recommended that you update your hboot to Lazy Panda 1.12.222. This will enable a working fastboot.

How do I find out what version I have now?
 
Part of my problem was that I was running 64 bit Ubunu. I got windows to run, also I did not need a new card rather I used my 32gig that must of had plenty of space for files. Follow what's been posted here and you should've no problems.

I believe as long as the rom doesn't have any changes to the build.prop, you should be good.

I'm going to stick to my guns and recommend stock rooted for running LazyPanda. Globatron recommends it, so I do too. :)

I noticed you said earlier you flashed the 1.12.222 hboot, are you already S-OFF?

Alot of people have success with the Fresh stuff, so I actully flash to that from MeanRom.

Yes, I have s-off. Took me 4 hours because I was reading the terms n I didnt want to mess up.

The chmod did modify my privileges but the same message shows about "tmp".

I didn't want to give up on LazyPanda with Ubuntu. So I decided to re-create another Live USB of Ubuntu using the 32 bit version instead.

As a result, I am S-OFF with LazyPanda and TWRP. Step by step went fine with no problems. Even "adb-linux" and "adb-fastboot" worked fine within the "Downloads" folder.

With no disrepect, I think something should be mentioned in the Guide for the following:

- Preferable method to run LazyPanda on a 32 bit version (don't know about running on a VM though). With the 32 bit version there is no need to run "apt-get install ia32-libs" or "apt-get update".

- This may not be a big deal. Possibly rearrange where TWRP is located and mentioned. It currently is hidden under "ZedoMax" section so I had to dig into to find it again. I actually flashed TWRP through the bootloader after LazyPanda.

I got my ELTE just 2 days ago and I'm still playing around with it, but assuming that I hang on to it I will be moving forward with s-off. Fortunately for me, my phone hasn't been updated and is still running hboot 1.12. It wants me to install an OTA update right now but obviously I won't be doing that. :D


I just have 2 questions:

1. I'm going to be doing this on Ubuntu so it appears that I need to manually run through the HTCdev unlock, install su/busybox, and install TWRP. Does anyone have a link to the files to do that? I tried the links in the zedomax method and they don't work. I also tried to go to his original post on XDA and the links there don't work either. :(


2. The instructions on unlimited.io state that I have to be on the stock 1.13 RUU prior to running LazyPanda. How can I tell what I have now, or do I just flash that from fastboot no matter what? It seems like the steps should be to download the stock 1.13 first, reboot the phone into bootloader > fastboot and flash it, and then reboot and run LazyPanda (ensuring USB debugging is enabled and fastboot is off). Is this correct or can I ignore this 1.13 RUU?

Edit: Nevermind the 1.13 is my software version not hboot version. I am running 1.13.651.1 710RD right now so I guess I'm good to go on that part.

Yes you are running the right software. That piece of information was for people that had unlocked previously and flashed an updated ROM from the new otas


I would highly recommend regaw leinads method for unlocking the boot loader and putting twrp and root on for you automatically. You can then proceed by feeding the panda after that :D

EM...if you have those files that would be great. I may even be able write up a Linux version of the guide. I'm not a device driver or kernel guru, but I have been using Linux for about a decade and am very familiar with it.

Can you post a link to the files or pm them to me?
