Root [MetroPCS] [ROM][F6] Xperion ROM **Updated 2/11/2015**

Is there anything in this ROM that automatically adjusts display brightness in reaction to ambient light? [I used an app, Lux, that did this. But, when I installed it, it reported that there was no light sensor in this phone.]

LG does not include the ambient light sensor in their low budget phones like the F6. So obviously without the sensor the display cannot adjust to ambient light.

It seems ironic that a HUAWEI Premia [my last phone] did include one, given that it seemed like the "true dog" of the bunch...

Game Theory,

I registered here to say thanks for putting together this rom. I picked up a used MS500 from a coworker for my brother. He can't afford a new phone himself, and this seemed like a good budget phone to grab for him. He is not on MetroPCS, and I was looking for a custom rom without all of the MetroPCS bloat. I must confess I suffered through some challenges between first downgrading to 10i, getting root, keeping root while upgrading to 12b, and finally installing your rom. I managed my way through it though with the help of your tutorials. Admittedly my Nexus 4 is a lot easier to mod.

In any case I do have one question for you, or anyone else who knows. The last thing I need to do is carrier unlock the phone. Is it best to just use a service like unlocklocks.com, or is there a software hack I can try? Thanks for any advice you can give.

No problem, you're welcome. ;)

I don't know much about carrier unlocking this phone. Your best bet might be the website you mentioned. Definitely do some research before jumping into any unlock method/service since there's a few of them. Also sometimes youtube is a good place to look for some carrier unlock tutorials and reviews.

unlocklocks.com seems to be good for this phone...

Thanks for the fast reply. I was just reading in another thread that someone used UnlockOnline.Com with this phone with good results, so I went ahead and placed the order with them, $6.90 USD. I'm not sure what the turn around time is, but when I get the code back I will reply here with the results. Thanks again.

Not sure if it's okay to post links to unlocking sites here or not. But google for unlock lg server 1. Confirmed working by multiple people.

Ok I got my codes, as in plural. There are two, a network unlock code, and a service provider unlock code. First let me tell you that the instructions from unlockonline.com are wrong, or maybe they only work on a phone with the stock rom. It says to put an unauthorized sim from another carrier in, reboot the phone, and you will be prompted to enter the code. Well that doesn't happen with this phone, at least not with the Straight Talk sim I used. It is an old inactive sim though, so maybe that is why.

In any case I followed the video instructions Game Theory posted from unlocklocks.com, in which they show you how to use the dial pad to bring up the correct interface to put the codes in. Using that I was able to enter the service provider unlock code, which worked. When I tried to enter the network unlock code I got a message stating that the phone wasn't personalized.

Does anyone know what that means? Unfortunately I can't do anything else at the moment. My personal phone is on MetroPCS, and I don't have any other sim cards here to put in. I'm wondering if after I put my brother's sim in the phone if I will then be able to enter the other code, or perhaps the other code is simply unnecessary.

Not all phones will bring up the unlock code screen if unauthorized SIM is inserted. Some require you to dial the correct code to get there. If you entered one of the provided the codes and it rebooted then you have successfully unlocked the phone. It's been confirmed to work with the service provider unlock code.

Ok so if I am understanding you correctly I don't need the other code. That sounds good to me.

My brother is on his way over here. We are going to head down the street to the local mall, and have one of the cell phone vendors cut his sim down to micro size. Once I have it in we will know for sure. I will post back.

Ok I am back from my trip to the cell phone store. The mission was successful. My brother now has a MetroPCS MS500 running the Xperion rom on Walmart Family Mobile.

You are going to laugh when I tell you though that we didn't actually have to cut the sim. I knew he had a full size sim, but what i didn't know is that is was pre-cut for the micro size. I hadn't actually looked at it myself previously. My brother hands it to the store clerk to have him put it in the punch tool, and the guy just pulls the outside edge off, and that was it. It just popped out of the middle.

So thanks again to everyone here for the help/advice, and a special thanks to Game Theory for a great rom. My brother was very happy.

GT, Damn homie! I can finally use this phone the way i want! Thank you an all the other Dev's for staying on top of LG's mistakes....lol

I notice a [re]boot happening, not reproducible/repeatable, from time to time. It's probably not the ROM. I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen this behaviour?

Under transparency management like you did for lockscreen. Set to 100. There's an xposed module called Tinted Status Bar that will let you use it with any app but I don't like when it loads it displays it as black then changes to adjust to apps color.

For some reason transparency doesn't activate for lockscreen even with 100%.

BTW, loving this ROM. Thanks GT!

Edit: I meant it wasn't working on the launcher.

I just started looking at this and I clicked on the above and got:
"This feature is in trial mode ... premium features ... Trial period ends after 2 reboots"

Are the "premium features" worth it?

One issue I've found is nova launcher dors not habe working home button?

If you're talking about clicking the home button to return to the home screen, that works just fine. You can also change the home button to do whatever you want in nova settings.

This is my speed test on a 12b radio. I don't ever see why I would go back to the 10i radio.

Here the antennas spectrums havnt been updated. Yet,,,,
I knw what are my preferences n how to tweak(manage) them.

Ok, so I've got the he button functioning properly with HOME launcher but not NOVA? I've wiped an re flashed (following your instructions to the T) an no help?
I will admit that my brain has "gas" time to time, It's probably in settings somewhere!
