Root Odin (Return phone to Stock/Factory)

When you are running CTMod , your device registers as this -samsung SPH-M820-BST .

When you run CM7 , your device registers as this -samsung SPH-M820 .

I'm almost positive this is the reason that CM7 doesn't get the update .

Interesting.

I looked at the Market and see CTMod labeled as:
Boost Mobile Samsung SPH-M820-BST

And CM7 labeled as:
Samsung SPH-M820

What is annoying is that I could install Touchdown just fine on both ROMs, but the key for it "is not compatible" with the CM7 ROM. Crazy.

Good thing I keep Titanium backups. I just restored the key from when I was running CTMod.

I will buy you a beer in a bit. First of all I need to figure out one little bug. First of all I saw the update todya from boost and took it. it bricked the phone. used your FA19 rom to fix phone and it now boots and makes calls and takes calls with one exception. once in a while it will just decide to not dial. when you hit send it will say "Dailing" then after a while it will just end the call without calling. going to dl Ej06 and see if that get is working agian tho. thanks for your work if you have a suggestion on how to fix that problem I will buy you two beers :)

update:
thanks to your rooted ej06 the phone is bacck up and running. thanks i owe you a beer

Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out what the best way to flash FA19 Gingerbread Rooted Image with CWM5 by Koumajutsu is. Should I just flash that and go with it? I've also thought about putting Kouma Kernel on it. I'm not sure what the difference between the FA19 GB Rom and the Kouma Kernel is. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, it will install cwm... But why could you POSSIBLY not want the ability to back up everything on your phone in case you screw it up?! OR the ability to install custom software

Lol I daily thank god and hroark for cwm :D

ME TOO!! CWM and ODIN have taken much of the stress and risk out of rooting and modding the Prevail. Remember when everything was installed using Windows Batch Files similar to OCR using ADB commands? It was great because that is all we had along with the Factory Reset. Just having Root was Wonderful. Shabbymod was the Shit! Great Froyo based ROM.

But, now....What a difference.

It is easy to take for granted all the hard work that Hroark did to get these tools working for us. And that was when he was just getting started...LOL.

My feelings EXACTLY. well said!

I think of cwm kinda like 'root' for my stock recovery. (the phone has a very limited, basic, recovery out of the box, this 'unlocks' the potential of recovery mode)

Awesome is all I can say

This morning
Boost/Samsung decided to push FA19 down to my phone. After a quick reboot I had a nice brick sitting in the palm of my hands. Went to hroark13's post about FA19 and Odin and half an hour later, I am back in business.

Boost said call Samsung, Samsung said send the phone in and we'll get it back to you in 5-7 business days (which means two weeks, who can live without their phone and droid for two weeks?). I sent them the old FU.jpg and came right here looking for an answer.

Thanks for bailing me out.

Ya know , we're are very lucky to have and be a part this Prevail Forum . I visit other Boost Forums and read through their threads and none have the community and support that we have here . ;)

I've never had the need to back up anything on my phone. Plus there's no custom software worth getting. It's always too glitch. I just want to be able to erase all the bloatware and have full access to files on my phone. Why complicate it with shit that barely works?

Are you using a galaxy prevail? Have you even tried any mods? I've been modding mine since it came out, and I only recently had issues with anything, which were easily fixed with CWM restore. Don't let the forums fool you, for every person posting a problem there's dozens who are running perfectly.

Besides, what would you rather have, clockworkmod or carrierIQ?

does anyone know how or what to do to stop the update notifications, and if so can explain it in simple terms?

ive been wanting to switch to a mod and have been looking. which one is better and a link or how to do it. sometimes i mess my phone up every other week and have to reflash or odin, am a pro at odin must have at leat 20 times and then use titanium pro to get everything back to my normal. so if you can give the link or info to a good one.

if the cm7 is cyanogen mod, i tried and can't get a2sdgui to work it say i don't have root or no ext, or one other thing. and if i play any videos like even a song with video on there it locks up and then have to reflash . now i have ejo6 rooted and a2sdgui and have 120 apps on sd and 140 free internal memory but just want to get the notification to stop.

I've never been able to get a2sd to work on CM7 . I used S2E before his kernel upgrades since S2E is made for CM7 . Hroark and Kouma have kernels to do the same thing . How about posting in the CM7 thread for some help with it . They will get you fixed up if you still want to use CM7 .
