"If ya can't be....with the one ya love, honey....love the one you're with".....NOT!!!!! Wait for the big show darling'.......WAIT!

Exactly why settle for a repackaged Atrix/Photon when you can have the latest and greatest a month or two later. The newness wears off fast. Mark my words the Bionic folks will be mad they didn't wait. They may claim they won't. But watch :)

Guys, I have to admit that I'm pretty jealous of the Bionic people, getting their phones in less than a week.

I've said on there that I will walk into Verizon and take a look at it, and I probably will, but what if I like it???

Prime is obviously the better of the two, but the one that you can have NOW is sometimes much more tempting than the better one you can have LATER.

:(
If you simply wait to see how the Prime turns out, you can always decide to go ahead and get the Bionic...and take advantage of a lower price. :)

Good things come to those who wait.

Here's some background. I lusted after the HTC Incredible, which was the cat's meow when it debuted. Then the DX came out and reigned as Verizon's flagship phone for quite awhile.

I sense the same situation taking shape here. I feel that the Bionic (which is overdue) will be overshadowed in short order, as was the Incredible, imo.

Thanks, guys. I think I went temporarily insane, looking at all the pictures leaking over on the Bionic forums.

I think that the Bionic is too little, too late, and I'd kick myself if I didn't wait for the Prime.

Don't know what I was thinking! :D

You guys HAVE to read this. .it seems that LG is going at it with Samsung, making an attempt to make people wait on something else besides the Nexus Prime. . something better

The rummered device is made by LG, and it is being referred to as LG Optimus Pro.
This is VERY weird considering BlueFire's sister confirmed a nexus phone coming to Verizion, and they are reffering to is as the Optimus.

According to the leak, Google was open to manufacturers competing on making a device, and that google would later pick one of them to become the Nexus 3.

The device is rumored to have, which I'll believe when I see it and I don't think I can wait till quad-cores are out, UNLESS the Prime is a Quad-Core . . NOT

-Quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 unit with 1.5GHz of speed
-Next generation NOVA display with a 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 HD resolution
-Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
-Bluetooth 3.0
-3D capability
-12.1 megapixel camera

On a side note, I think its so funny that apple keeps loosing iphones at bars right before their debut of a new device. .Apple employees seem to have a drinking problem. Oh well, I guess people will try anything for advertisement.

Hello Tegra 3 Quad-Core phones

Edit: Thanks for the link!

I kinda soiled myself, just a little bit when I saw this, but then I thought... Do I really want to wait even longer? And no, I don't.

These are just concept phones. Not real.....yet

"Hasan Kaymak just sent me a very nice email containing his latest concept phone, the LG Optimus Pro, that you can see right here. We’re dealing with a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 unit with 1.5GHz of speed and the next generation of NOVA display, with a 4.3 inch diagonal and 1280 x 720 pixel resolution."

I doubt this LG is in the running as a Nexus Prime device, simply because it has capacitive buttons. ICS is supposed to do away with those.

Seems like a cool phone, but I'm not into LG that much. . .

As far as my sister saying that some at VZ are referring to the Droid Prime as "Optimus", I think that's just a play on the Transformers theme. She hasn't said anything to me about LG.

Edit: Also, those pictures say "Sprint" on it, so I wouldn't be able to get it anyway.

I thought she was referring to LG Revolution 2 with Optimus. I heard Revo 2 is going to have 1.5Ghz dual core/LTE plus HD screen, but never heard of Tegra3 and Ice Cream. Looks like too good to be true.

Hmmmmm.....I think I'll stick with Blue's sista......for now. No offense.

Regardless of whats around the corner, NOTHING beats a Nexus handset in my opinion. Even the Nexus S to this day while out spec'd is a stellar piece of hardware and remains VERY relavent. While other handsets go to their grave yards early the Nexus keeps on ticking as a premier device.

Getting all the love from Google before anyone else is priceless in my opinion. When all the new hardware comes out next year I won't even flinch because I will have, what I believe, the best overall Android package anywhere.

I shall envy no other device UNTIL the next Nexus comes out

does anybody know for a fact if ICS will have a UI that is using the GPU ?

Will the GPU be used only at certain times, or will ICS use it fully on the device ?

I'm curious, since the Nexus devices are made by different manufacturers, what is it that "keeps on ticking"? What is different about a Nexus as compared to a rooted and ROMed other device?

Whether you are rooted or not anything that Google kicks out (software updates etc etc) there's no wait.

Not everyone wants root access.

From a hackers point of view there really is not much of a difference but it's nice to get all the goodies before anyone else..

Great question. We will know that question once it's released.

Here's something for you Steven :)

If you have a Nexus device, you can rest assured that any Google update will be perfect for it, more or less, because it will essentially be made for it.

The reason that Google updates are slow to come out to other phones is because each phone has it's own way of running its system. When Google released Gingerbread, for example, it went to the Nexus without any hiccups, because it was created and tested on a Nexus. However, it had to be adjusted and tinkered with quite extensively before it would work on any other device. That's why we're seeing that the Droid 2, for example, is just NOW getting an official Gingerbread update, even though the update was released officially late last year to Nexus.

When a major update, such as Gingerbread or the future ICS, is customized by developers to be used as flashed roms on rooted handsets, they are always littered with bugs. That's why even the best roms on such stable devices such as the OG Droid are on "version 17" and so forth.

A Nexus device will have some minor bugs with a new update from Google, but that's to be expected as it gets ironed out. I find that there are many more bugs on non-Nexus phones and especially flashed roms.

If we wait for the Prime, I highly doubt any one of us will regret it for the entire length of the 2 years, and if another Nexus isn't available when we're up for renewal, we may even decide to wait without feeling too much frustration. A dual-core, HD screen, 4G phone will last a long while. Especially considering that dual-core, at this moment in time, isn't even really necessary given that there are no roms and barely any apps that are optimized for using 2 cores.

My head hurts from reading all these posts. I'm not sure if anyone has focused on anything but the megapixel count of the prospective new phone. My understanding and experience with megapixels started way back when we started using digital cameras in the photo studio. That camera was a 5 megapixel Kodak. I was just looking at some of those images the other day and was amazed at the color and quality of the files. We now shoot with 21 megapixel Canon 1DS Mark3's that do blow up to a larger size, but it normal uses aren't much better color wise or resolution wise. The real determining factor for image quality is the physical size of the sensor. For example if the current Samsung eight megapixel Sensor is only a 16th of an inch square and the new prime sensor was a quarter inch square it would mean that the smaller sensor would have to cram in more megapixels to a smaller area. This would increase noise and reduce resolution. The larger five megapixel sensor would have larger sensor sites, thus reducing noise and increasing resolution. I would be surprised if the new phone didn't use a larger sensor than is currently in use and increase the megapixels to eight. I hope this helps and thanks again for all the great information.

Such a good point. And in comparison to Apple, you notice their old gen iPhones get the latest software as well until a MAJOR build is on the works then things become a little limited. The Nexus is the phone that represents Android. The software is built along side the hardware and makes an awesome performance for a consumer. It's one thing to have great hardware but that honestly does NOTHING if your OS isn't smooth from the inside out. That's one thing Apple has over Android. With Gingebread, Google has refined things. With IC it'll look even better wit eye candy and a better user experience with awesome features and hardware to run on. Then such a phone is open to the Hackers so if your a rooter your in for some treats. I have a NS4G and I love it. It's fun to play around with and out of curiosity trying other roms like MIUI, but I always end up coming back to stock. There's nothing like it when it comes to enjoying the UI. It can use a host of new features and eye candy but going in and out of apps and USING the phone on a daily basis is a joy. So many of us forget hardware alone is nothing. quality throughout the entire phone is like fundamentals.
