CK, all you accomplished with that picture of the lion harassing that poor buffalo was to make me dislike lions a little more.

This one is much more appropriate.

Thanks, Phases, for merging my posts. Now I don't feel like such a newbie! I do mourn the loss of my "thanks", though. :(

And yes, Pentile sucks. But I agree, with HD resolution, I don't think we'll be able to tell, and we'll still have the added benefit of battery power saved.

I was on the "End of Waiting" Bionic band wagon and kind of came to my senses. All that waiting was like being in training for waiting on the Prime.

I can always back up to the Bionic or whatever if the Prime fails to please I guess, and at a cheaper non-release price. Or wait more....

My OG Droid is nicked, chipped, scratched, slowing, no gold on the camera button, on its 2nd battery cover and my old wrinkled eyes want a larger display.

I seen a post or blog on the Prime stating its camera had improved low light capabilities. Anyone else hear of this?

Nexus Prime Specifications, Speculations and Rumors thread. That was not for me was it?

No it was about my analogy being spun off about survival of the fittest which sort of corresponds to where those of us waiting on the prime find ourselves :)

Btw I didn't hear anything about the camera in low light conditions but that's not saying much because I tend to skim over anything to do with cameras and phones.

You're in a win win situation by doing this Gapi. Very smart move.

Btw welcome to the forums buddy!! Great to have you here

I'm right there w/ ya gapi. We can be our own support group. I have the iPhone 3g, which is slow as molasses, and my contract is up the day before Bionic comes out. Will I be getting the Bionic? Nope. If you asked me between March - July, I would have said 'Hell yes'.

But like everyone is saying, there are so many awesome phones right around the corner, it's not going to kill me to wait another month or two, when I've been waiting for 6-8 already. Will the Bionic be MUCH, MUCH better than my iPhone? Sure it will, but like CK has said in this thread, the Prime is a phone I'll never worry about replacing for AT LEAST 2 years.

I dont think the whole 'A better phone will always be right around the corner' argument applies here when it comes to Bionic/Prime either, because we've known about the Bionic and its specs for MONTHS. Not so w/ the Prime. If we knew Prime V2 was coming out in January, it'd be a different story.

By the end of November, we'll have to choose from: Bionic, Prime, Vigor, iPhone5.

So within 2 months, 3 phones that will have better hardware/software/specs than Bionic will be out, with the Prime leading the charge. Count me in for another month or 2 of waiting :D

Now with Prime getting both wifi and bluetooth certification, it seems like the wait will not be in vain.

Vigor might (I stress "might") have some battery issues, if it's anything like any other HTC phone.

iPhone 5 will have nothing going for it, really. They've ALWAYS been behind on hardware specs. They never reveal the speed of their processors, but when they are revealed in tear-downs, they're always found to be slower with less RAM. Even if they came out with a 4.5" Retina display screen (which they won't in version 5), it wouldn't compete.

Bionic is out-dated almost as fast as it is announced. Although that's to be expected, given the long delays. It would have been a super-beast in May.

Prime is the only phone that is worth dreaming about. Even if it's bloated and Touch-wizzed, those are easily manageable and/or removable. And you'll be left with an ICS, full HD, blazingly fast monster on LTE. What more could you ask for?

Guys I smell a water buffalo.....we may want to get up from underneath these trees pretty soon. Lets just chill for a bit more though. This shade feels good.....

HanSolo I don't think the Prime will be running a manufacturer UI. Verizon bloat will make its way on the handset but I don't think the Droid monikor will pan out with the Prime. The Droid HD will drop around the holidays so I just don't see the nexus prime dropping under the Droid umbrella.

Would be a mistake in my opinion. I talk about it in my thread.

Yeah, I don't think it will either. I guess I'm just saying that I don't care either way.

On a side note, on black_man_x's twitter profile, this guy named "slimjamm" asked him when the Nexus Prime is coming out. Blackmanx told him that he couldn't share it, but that "Nov has been heavily rumored".

If it comes before Black Friday, I'll be one happy camper. But with it passing wifi, I don't think October is out of the question. Maybe late October, as Chief has said.

I just hope we see something from the FCC in the next 20 days or so.

Two phones I’m sure many of you are patiently waiting for have made stops at certification forums. First up, the DROID Prime, said to be Verizon’s version of the Nexus Prime (but could totally be their Galaxy S II) has gotten WiFi certified. Next, the Nexus Prime (which we expect to be fully stock Android on the carriers set to bring it out) has passed the Bluetooth SIG’s requirements and is good to go.
The Nexus Prime already saw its WiFi certification a couple of weeks ago so it’s pretty much ready after the FCC gets down and dirty with it. Likewise, the DROID Prime has already gone through Bluetooth SIG. If the FCC deems everything is fine and dandy sometime soon, we could be primed (see what I did there?) for that October release window we’ve been hearing about. [via Droid-Life]
Question for you guys:
If these two phones were essentially the same, shouldn't they have passed at the same time? Also, why are they testing 2 different phones?

I may be able to answer my own question with this but is it because of the GSM and CDMA chipsets? For some reason I cant wrap my head around why GSM and CDMA would have anything to do with WiFi and bluetooth though...

I think they are 2 variants of the same phone, one GSM and one CDMA. I think the only place that Vodafone operates CDMA is in Germany, but that's WCDMA, which I don't think is the same thing.

The devices are running different radios. The way each radio impacts the devices over all usage has to be tested. They also have a few chips that are different in relation to it's radio and antenna. As far as any governing body is concerned with radio transmission and interference is concern, there are substantial differences between the two.

WCDMA means UMTS/HSPA+ type 3G employed by most GSM carriers. But that name is misleading many folks to thinking it's some kind of CDMA like verizon.

Looks like there are a lot of confusions over what Nexus Prime, Droid Prime are and whether it will be only verizon phone or not. I guess it's only for Verizon for first a few months at least. I hope they clarify on this soon.

yeah I would say its because one is a GSM phone and the other a CDMA for verizion. .GSM being the pure version, and CDMA being the version which Verizon craps on before they sell it so that they and their partners can make money.

I really hope for all of you guys that are on Verizon that they don't mess it up for you, and even if they do, I hope you guys are able to remove their crap pretty fast.

Somebody needs to SLAP Verizon across the face. God I HATE CDMA carriers.

My friend, who is on AT&T and travels a lot, always says that CDMA and, therefore, Verizon sucks. I'm not really concerned about it too much because I don't travel all that much outside the US. Also, it's kind of a moot point because Verizon is the only carrier I can still get unlimited data on, other than Sprint, and I'm not keen on giving up that lightning fast 4G.

For us Verizon users, unless the Droid Prime is a pure Nexus device (which I doubt), our choices will always be between one bloated phone or another bloated phone. I'd rather have one with a gorgeous screen and monster hardware.

Is Oct the month Google is suppose to reveal IC which should be followed by the device?

It's been rumored since June to be coming in October, and black_man_x (apparently an insider) has tweeted that it is almost finalized and will soon be sent out to handset manufacturers. The idea is that it will ship with the Prime.

And with the Prime recently showing up in testing circles, it sort of fits together that we might be able to expect it in late October.

We should, hopefully, start seeing some ICS leaks relatively soon. (There were a few pictures posted that were supposedly from ICS, but I think they are fakes.)
