I'm cautiously optimistic that it won't have any custom UI like TW because it will be the first device with major new android version like OG Droid, Xoom with android 2.0, 3.0. Porting any custom UI into it means extra development time/effort and updates taking longer. So I doubt Google would allow that.

I'm there with you Steven! I've been lurking with you since the days of the incredible. I was pretty pumped with the thought of the Nexus experience but if that's not happening I'll go to the Vigor! Here's to hoping that we don't have the whole truth!

But we don't know if this will be the first ICS phone. ;)
 
i think google will announce the phone. just like they announce all the other nexus lines.
google will holst some kind of event, revealing the device.
 
Something to also keep in mind people is that these next 3-4 weeks are going to be filled with so much misinformation your head will spin. Tales of locked bootloaders,launch dates, touchwiz, no touchwiz, launching with GB then ICS then GB then back to IC and everything in between.

Its going to get really insane. Just sit back and watch the grains of salt go flying by.

But I doubt it.

And if this IS a "Droid" phone, it won't be announced by Google, I don't think. Did Google announce honeycomb? Or was it announced by Verizon as a selling point for the Xoom? I can't remember.

Exactly. I havent seen stock anything since the Inc 1 was rooted back in June, 2010. This phone is bound to be rommed ad infinitum so I see it being a non-issue for me. I have my preference but I'll probably climb onboard regardless.
 
Not trying to be pessimistic or anything, just pragmatic: I'm really not sure we'll ever see a stock vanilla Android device again. Now that there is mega memory in phones, there's plenty of room for skins and bloatware, with room left for user data. Carriers are going to cash in on that roomy memory, loading it with lots of crapware we don't want or need.

I maintain an October 20th release date, so I wouldn't expect an "official" announcement until about the 10th or 13th... unofficial? Maybe October 1st. That gives us 3 weeks to get FCC clearance. Would LOVE to hear what HanSolo's sister has to say about that *hint hint* ;)

Hey Steven! I remember you back from the anticipation of the original HTC Incredible (not sure why you got the Droid X if you love Sense so much though).

I can say I want pure android experience and easily rooting and changing ROMs. With all these manufacturers trying to make you go through hoops for that, or register with the company when you do, I really want a Nexus phone on Verizon. I wanted the original Nexus One on Verizon, but they cancelled those plans. So I got the Incredible instead. It's been good to me, but I want in on the dual-core LTE goodness now!!
 
Interesting.....perhaps it will in fact launch across all carriers at the same time. Ooooo the mystery deepens.

Verizon had better not mess with this phone other than adding LTE. I don't want a Droid version of this thing unless it is by name only.
