Early and Steven, thanks for helping to clean things up. I'm still amazed by how well this forum is run. I would assume in the future any "offensive" posts should not be quoted? (I believe this may have been stated several thousand posts back..)

Yes.

I think OfTheDamned's sig says it best - don't retort, just report.

The follow-on discussions just make more work to delete, so not replying is really appreciated by us. We're liable to catch things in this thread as they happen, but if we don't, we sure appreciate the reports. :)

In the search of something to make me smile about the lack of positive Nexus news from Verizon today.....it says 69 at the top of this page. ;)

There was a time when I thought there was absolutely NO WAY we would surpass the dInc thread...this is just sad

I wonder, though...

Wouldn't this have been the first thing wrung out by Samsung and the Verizon, given past problems with other LTE phones?

And if it were the problem -- possibly a serious or complex issue -- would Samsung's VP have appeared on that Fox news segment that made the rounds a few weeks back, seeming challenging VZW to release?

And we heard the same confidence from Panda (who has been quiet lately).

Not to say it could have been an LTE issue discovered late, but is that really likely?

Well the thing is Google is from a different school then Verizon. They are happy to say 'put the darn thing out' knowing how good and fast fixes will be on such a light (read not bloated) device. Those that have rooted know this because that is the whole reason why we rooted.

Verizon on the other hand is only familiar with how it has been w/ motorola and HTC and the likes and how hard it is to get fixes and updates pushed through.

In many ways we are working through a learning curve for all parties involved.

can we do that with all of the failed release leaks and the majority of this thread and start fresh and new?

so far i think the only mentions in this whole thread that have panned out were some of the early speculations on the specs of the phone. pretty much everything else is wrong, so we would revert to about 10 posts

Well, I add to the rumor mill. Pydepypper retweeted from bgill55 that there would be a pre-order first week of December with release on 15th. add your salt of choice.

So what you're saying is Verizon should continue to put out bug-ridden phones? That if they improve their quality control then it must be an indication of some hidden malicious motive?

I find it disturbing that there's 19 thanks so far on such a conspiratorial post.

.

I certainly hope this is the case. Verizon constantly trumpets their depth of testing to ensure a positive user experience, then blows it. And this ties in with a conversation earlier this morning about "checking the spark plugs after topping the fluids" (testing everything anew after completing a minor bug fix).

I feel like a broken record using my current phone and its predecessor as examples, but a fix to improve the speediness of the system inadvertently introduced a bedside mode bug, repairing that caused a display bug, then there was an audio problem, then Java broke causing a few games not to run. It just went on and on. There never was a truly "finished" OS for either of these devices.

So if Verizon has finally figured out that a big-free OS is important, more power to them. But there were release delays for supposed QC reasons then, too, and in the end they released broken promises and created a lot of ill will because of it.

I received my GSM Galaxy Nexus this morning. LOVE this phone! I have been working with it all day and I am so glad I took the chance ordering from Negrei. I popped my T-Mobile sim in and after a few minutes I was using 4G. ICS is everything you read. It is a fantastic upgrade from gingerbread. All my apps downloaded from the market just fine. The video filters will keep my kids (and me) entertained for hours. I am so pleased I didn't wait for Best Buy. You guys are going to love it.

True that. Those that have been doing this sort of thing for a while know this.

However, the GN has a much wider appeal this time around. The mainstream media is all over this thing. People who are not smart phone savvy are waiting with baited breath for the release. It's the first Android phone to not only challenge the iPhone in specs, but user friendliness.

I think it is a crucial turning point in the cell phone arena. Regardless of what Verizon motives are, ICS is Google's first venture into a user friendly scenario, and they want it to be right.

So as much as I want to see this thing released yesterday, I can get behind the concept of them taking android to the next level and making it a viable alternative to iOS. Competition is a good thing. :)
