T-mobile and at&t won't let their phones have it either. its because the 3 of them are working on isis, but its kinda frustrating that they wont allow competition.

Yeah its all about money. I am sure that exclusivity contract is worth millions to the carriers and manufacturers. I think it would be a nice gesture to let us use it until Isis is available, but alas no such luck.

Haters gonna Hate.

its a shame people always gotta think negatively. i feel bad for them. they must go home and beat their dogs.

Yes, people who think negatively about Verizon are beating on their pets out of frustration.

A lot of people feel kind of burned by being strung along by rumored dates, leaks, trolls, and false hope. I don't blame anyone for feeling negative about the latest info. However, some have really no one else to blame but themselves for their disappointment. People set themselves up with high hopes only to be knocked down when it turns out that the latest flavor of the day isn't what it turns out to be.

Myself? I prefer to be cautiously optimistic. I'm going to at least acknowledge that the amount of leaks and info we've been getting is going to lead to something concrete very soon. However, that soon has yet to be officially defined. While I hope something happens in the next couple of days, I'm not going to be disappointed if it doesn't.

Regardless, I can't wait till I get this Nexus in my hands! :)

I'm surprised he went ahead and changed the title, however, I fully believe it'll be the 9th and we'll never know if it's "confirmed" because the phone is gonna be launched quietly... it's not a Droid. i'd be surprised if we don't hear something from Google/Samsung before it launches though...

Good morning - I see the 9th hasn't been disproved yet, so we're sticking with that story? Are we still looking at a soft launch as well? I wouldn't expect to hear anything major out of Verizon any time soon if that's the case. Any marketing would kind of ruin a so called soft launch.

According to ZDNet, Verizon is not the one that is blocking Google Wallet. Google has an exclusive with Sprint.

According to google via phandroid , vzw requested it not be included functionality. That makes more sense to me, given their Isis deal

there's a rumor of a soft launch on Thursday 12/8, like no signage you have to go up there and actually ask for the phone lol.. I doubt it though

Google confirmed with androidcentral that Verizon requested Google Wallet not be included on the GNex. Not sure where ZDNet got their info, but doesn't seem to jive.

It's Verizon, get used to it. Just be thankful they let you use any 3rd party services. I'm surprised they haven't disabled Google Navigation in favor of VZ Navigator.

Agreed, but it still seems anticompetitive. I wonder if the FTC can get involved on this.

happy not monday everyone!

I've read Sprint is the only carrier who supports Google Wallet anymore, the rest are going with ISIS. It doesn't make sense that Google would want to lock themselves down to Sprint since they would likely want everyone to one day use Google Wallet.

this is interesting, and would be EXTREMELY stupid of Google if true...

Google is really smart about somethings and really stupid about others.

they need to look at history and how products become standards.

Betamax vs VCS
apple vs PC (the first time in the 80's)
dvd-hd vs blueray
etc...

the faster you can get a product/service widely distributed the better chance of it being adopted...

I am mildly optimistic that THIS midnight tonight will FINALLY be the anti-Cinderella midnight and something WONDERFUL will happen.

This would be good for us though. :D

Does anyone know of any other devices that have gotten a soft launch on Verizon? We would still get a press release at the very least right? I don't want to take off of work just to ask the store for the phone on Thursday and hear they don't have it/ know what i'm talking about.

I think Google spun the other 3 carriers saying no into an "Exclusive" to the one that said yes, hehe

Just called Verizon Wireless *611 and asked to have my last NE2 moved from 12/28 to 12/9 in anticipation of the Galaxy Nexus launch on the 9th. The CSR asked if I'd pre-ordered it yet. I nearly fell out of my chair. I stammered and said, no but I'd like to right now if that's possible. She said hold for one moment while I confirm I can do this pre-order. I am on hold sitll.
