its irronic since releasing the SBF would probably cut down on the amount of returns. I know I rather take an hour to figure out how to unbrick rather than send my phone out and wait 2 days for the exchange (if its in stock)
Also if they hadn't locked the bootloader, they would have most likely sold more units over all. I'm no math wiz but it seems that these two things would have ended up as more money in there pockets if they had just gone the other way.
Ironic now that the phone has been all but completely hacked (i'm sure it will be 100% hacked soon) so all this effort to save on 3 weeks worth of possible bricked phone returns due to hacking.
which would also prevent possible returns.flash the sbf? re root with one click is a no brainer and I guess I can move bin to xbin with root explorer?
yes you can move it with root explorer, make sure you move it not copy it
and i you need help flashing the sbf?
do you have the sbf and rsd lit 4.7 with the patch?
I have both of them uploaded so let me know if you need them
no I don't have them I don't even know how to use them.
I had thought I could just move the file and update.
BUT I have several APK files that are renamed to BAK to keep them from loading and Im already rooted.

it might work it might not, you can try then get back to me if you want or you can just do it the first time![]()
Couldn't he just use quasses fix in the op if he is rooted? That's what I did....worked fine and no sbf
umm the one that talked about after you have 2.2?
I re did the OP let me know if its still there
Yea I assumed it was still there. Sorry! I guess I also assumed this guy was in the same situation as me...rooted but didn't carry over to2.2... Carry on!
Bored at work haha.

Good tutorial.... there is a GUI program that will kind of do it as well..
Official Droid X Root Tutorial! | The iDoctor

I want to thank everyone for your help. now that I did that
I said earlier I have 2.1update1 604 I have root, root explorer and wireless tether.
I don't want to loose any settings, I also have renamed apps from apk to bak.
question is the 2.2 I have downloaded today the final release? If I get this updated do I loose things like Need for speed and the superuser apps I have installed?
I really don't want to brick the phone or have any issues. Also whats happens if VZW tries to update me?
thanks to all.

ooooh boy. Followed instructions to a T... rebooted... nuthin but the Moto logo. After a period of time I do get voice responses (verizon wireless not available) but still only the Moto logo. Also... windows 7 no longer connects to the unit. Won't load the driver.
I have seen several posts of others getting the Moto Logo and nothing else... I have seen nothing as to why this happens or a fix...
Anyone? Anybody? shed some light or help a fella with a now bricked phone?
............. Minutes Later....
Well this is interesting. I can do a 'power/vol/cam' sequence after pulling the battery and I do get a screen with 'bootloader 30.01 Battery OK Ok to Program .... Transfer mode USB
Now.... where to go from here
.............. Even more minutes later....
I'm pretty sure it's coming up... just without a screen. I ultimately get notifcation sounds and a message in plain speech 'verizon wireless' but it just sits at the Moto Logo.

Is this leaked one better than the OP's link to the Official Froyo release here?
neither of these are official, they are both leaked. The update.zip at the bottom of the OP is the froyo you want
I just read the topic and the first post again. There's no mention that these are leaked or non-official. Thanks!

Except that link is broken because of the c&d.
I never got a reply back.. were there two different ersions of DX froyo released? Obviously I'd want the latest version.
Only thing untoward I see on my 2.2 is a slower then normal change from portrait mode to landscape (and back again) and an occasional graphic glitch when using swype.
