its all good. are you in fatsboot on the phone that is accessed by the bootloader? in the bootloader it should switch from fastboot to fastboot usb.

Just got his phone unlocked! It's my son''s 14th birthday, he's been wanting to root and I felt 14 is the age when you are old enough to void your warranty. Going to go figure out how to get recovery and flash MikG for him now.




Couldn't have entered the root world last year or rooted my son's phone today without ocnbrze. A sincere thanks to ocn and to all the community here that is willing to help without judging.

Hello- I'm having trouble getting the PC36IMG.zip to load in bootloader. I have done everything correct up to this point, but I keep getting a no image type of error. I've checked and it's not filed as zip.zip. I downloaded multiple times and checked the md5 and it is also right. Below is the message I'm seeing while it's trying to read the .zip file.

Do you have it on the root, or the top level (not in any folders) of the sd card?

Edit: can I assume you are unlocked now by using the htcdev method?

Yes it is in root on the sd card and yes I am unlocked using the Htcdev method using Captain_throwbacks method

ah, gotcha, so you are on step 10 of his method?

10) Using the previously downloaded Froyo PC36IMG.zip from the OP, rename to "PC36IMG.zip", and place on root of SD Card. Reboot into Bootloader, and follow the prompts to update device (Notice in the below picture that the watermark shows as "LOCKED" again).

I know you said there is no extra .zip at the end.
And you said it is not in any folder.
Not sure if it matters, but is the PC36IMG in caps? Not pc36img

No problem!
Well, if you are absolutely positive that you renamed it correctly, and it is on the root of sd card, you may have an sd card problem.
Do you have another card to try?

yes but he did not mention the strip on the top before it says S-on

so perhaps it does not.

ah, gotcha, as in he ran the unlock code etc but it didnt take, therefore, the "unlocked" and "locked" look similar, and didnt pay close enough attention to that line about it and started the capt. method?

yup, i tried a new sd card and it's still doing the same thing. someone said they had to downgrade their radio and then it worked. but I do not know how to do that.

The .zip you are trying to get working, is it the .zip that will be used with unrevoked?
If so, try the other .zip to be used with Revolutionary.

ok basically what you are seeing is what the bootlaoder is programmed to do. it will always search for a specific file name. if it does not find it then it will give you the no image or wrong image found message. so the bootloader is not finding it for whatever reason.

what size card are you using?

it's doing the exact samething. it's like it's reading the zip file and trying to load it but it's saying there is not image.

Did you rename that file in windows?
Did you download that file to your computer, then transfer to your sd card? (I ask to be sure your sd card is "seen" by your computer) (Also, some people download the file directly to phone and rename it on the phone..I personally wouldnt do that in this case)
And if you did download to computer, rename, transfer to sd card (not in any folder on sd card) the bootloader should see it.
Something is not right here....4 things HAVE to be right in order for the bootloader to see the file
1. The file is correctly named (PC36IMG.zip)
2. On the top, root, of sd card. (no folders)
3. No other PC36IMG on card.
4. A functioning sd card (you have tried 2 cards)
5.--optional--a good sandwich to eat when frustrated
I've gotta thing about this one....atm, I am stumped

I am using an 8 gb sd card.

after I download the zip file I move it to the sd card. when it is on the sd card I rename it PC36IMG.zip. then I move the sd card to my phone and start my phone in boat loader.

am i doing anything wrong?
