Root [ROM][AOSP]dGB v01_28_2012| 2.3.5| 375MB /data| 60MB /system |Mult-lang |Unlock |Reboot[28 Jan]

Just flashed it, and everything was smooth as butter.

Just a question: you say that you removed the Auto APN-setup, so I ahould backup my own. I haven't needed to restore that. Everything works just fine anyway. Don't quite understand that...?

Have you tried a data connection over the phone? That's what didn't work for for me until I restored my APNs (I forgot to restore them until I got that failure).

EDIT cross post.

Nevermind. Major brainfart...

You're right Adskankster. Realized this as I got away from my Wifi network.

I'm going give dGB another go now that I have read up on hboot a lot more. This is my plan of action ( i am s-off and currently running redux 2):

1. Do all back ups.
2. Flash dGB
3. Reboot into fastboot mode.
4. Open up Android Flasher
5. Connect phone whilst in fastboot.
5. tick hboot on Flasher and find the hboot.img that I've downloaded from the dGB thread then let Flasher do it's thing (how long does this part take and does it say when it's done?)
6. Reboot and re-install apps using Titanium

It seems to be relatively simple if I have that correct, though I may not. What are the risks involved and when are things likely to go wrong if they were to go wrong?

Thanks.

The flashig of a hboot should take a couple of seconds (literally). It should say when its done yes, although not used the latest version of flasher.

One thing I would say, before flashing dGB, dont forget to wipe!

Cool, yes, I would have wiped but it's definitely worth pointing it out, thanks. I'm using the version of Flasher that you recommend in your thread so it should be fine. Just another couple of questions. I know this rom doesn't rely on a2sd+ etc but my card is already partitioned so I assume dGB will just ignore any partitions on the sd card but does it still use the standard gingerbread app to sd and should I use that if an app allows it? Also if for some reason I wanted to flash to another rom, do I have to do something to the hboot or would flashing a new rom install it's own custom hboot, or say if I restored my Redux nandroid backup would it work with no fuss?

Thanks, again. Sorry but just a few more questions and then hopefully I'll be done. You say I'd have to change hboot again should I want to go to another rom, maybe a stupid question but where would I get the hboot img I'd need say if I wanted to go back to redux or any rom for that matter? Also , and this may sound like I'm trying to get you to sell it, but what are the main benefits of dGB? I quite like Redux and have a 16gb SD card so have no issues with partitions and am nowhere near filling up internal memory or space on my partition and so I am wondering if I should just leave be? Although now seeing that Redux is no longer going to be developed it does make me want to look elsewhere.

hi
trevytrev.
good luck with the hboot. I'm to green to go for that move yet :-D
I'm on redux2 and planning to try dGB also. so keen to see what you think
of the change.

cheers

All official hboots are at alpharev.nl

Main benefits of dGB

1) Smallest android rom by many MB's
2) Meaning its clean and not full of clutter
3) Meaning its fast and stable
4) Meaning is good on Battery

Thanks, yet again. To be honest I'm slightly wary of all this and I'm still nervous about hboot stuff so may well just stick with Redux 2 for the immediate future, sorry! I do want to try dGB and am happy with installing it and am pretty sure I can flash a new hboot on there but after reading the alpharev site, I'm not really sure what's what should I want to go back to the original hboot.

.....and what is md5 anyway :/

i think dGB installs ok on standaed hboot

yeah I think dGB will install on the standard hboot but then you're just going to lose space really quickly, hence having the custom hboot that gives you the 373mb internal.

You need to download an md5 chek sum application, oike one of the two in the ultimate toolbox thread. You show it the file and it will generate the number. The number must match whats on the site. Its just to confirm its not corrupt.

Getting a request for log in details when I try and download the MD5 checkers but can't see any info on the ultimate dropbox page for that, could someone let me know please?

hi Dan,

finally got dGB installed :) dloaded it on pc and then copied it to be sure of file

looking good so far - does seem lighter than redux2 even with out the hboot thingy - plus good to see 'move to sd' option back working in full

cheers
