Root [ROM][AOSP]dGB v01_28_2012| 2.3.5| 375MB /data| 60MB /system |Mult-lang |Unlock |Reboot[28 Jan]

hi Dan,

finally got dGB installed :) dloaded it on pc and then copied it to be sure of file

looking good so far - does seem lighter than redux2 even with out the hboot thingy - plus good to see 'move to sd' option back working in full

cheers
dan

what youll find is there is no a2sd so you will run out of space like you do on stock htc roms if you dont change the hboot to something that suits the rom
redux has a2sd support

hi RFB

right yes that is true - but ive not setup a2sd yet so wont see that impact i dont think - at the moment both internal and rma are better with dGB

cheers
dan

.....i have noticed though that the indicator icons at top of screen (especially the wifi one) change to white at times - instead of staying green - which is a bit odd

Getting more and more unimpressed with battery life on Redux 2 now, seems no better than before I rooted so I'm going to dive in with dGB for a couple of days and see how it goes then if all is good I'll change the hboot.

Just a thought, do I need to put the custom hboot on dGB before I put any apps back on? If I put all or some of my apps back on before flashing hboot will that cause problems or can it be done after?

Just take a nandroid backup once you are installed and set up.

Boot into recovery and format /data, /cache and /system.

Flash the hboot and nandroid restore.

Got it, thanks. This is all very stressful, I'm sure it's not good for my blood pressure all this rooting, I'm not young any more!

Ah you'll be alright. Once you've done it once, you'll wonder what all teh fuss was about.

Let's hope so! I thought I'd do this sneakily at work, got all the way to flashing dGB then remembered it doesn't keep apn settings and we don't have wifi here so I can't get any of the apps back on as I can't get to the market to put Titanium back on *facepalm*

Back to Redux now, I'll have another go at home later.

You can manually write the APN settings down and put them back in afterwards. I did that once (well I borrowed the wife's phone and copied her APN settings, but it's the same thing).

Two bulls on a hillside.
The young one says "Let's run down there and root one of those cows in that field each."
The old bull says, "No, let's walk down there and root them all."

Thanks but I'm just going to wait till later tonight, my work has been suffering this week with me paying more attention to this

good luck trevytrev.
I did dGB last night at work but have wifi :-)

cheers

@SU. cool. will it be based on red2 ;-)

would be cool if the sms screen had different
colors for me and other person imo

There is no Redux 2 source code available and I imagine it to be a while before it is available.

It will have the same power notifications as standard.

I'll have a look at the messaging code for colurs, however I would not like that as default so may make that as a flashable extra.

As for other features, i don't want to go into yet as I don't want to look a fool if I cannot implement them. It will be a while yet though.

Dont know if it's just coincedence, but flashed dGb last night and my 3g signal has been fantastic today. On crappy orange aswell.

Hi All,

Still loving the ROM but never did get around to flashing the recommended kernel. My question is that now I only have 252k available on system should I try and free up more space or will it overwrite the original one.
I have a custom MTD of 60 3.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

It will overwrite it, but as to the space, I'm not sure it may add a little to it. Take a nandroid backup before hand and try it.

ok just a little warning to people
Do not update super user as there is one available
if you are using the manu kernel you will not have space for the superuser binary
it will download and install the app fine but the binary is out of date so when you try to update it, it will fail and you will have to uninstall the superuser update to go back to the the normal one
