Root [ROM][AOSP]dGB v01_28_2012| 2.3.5| 375MB /data| 60MB /system |Mult-lang |Unlock |Reboot[28 Jan]

phew! lucky escape for me - kept looking at it in my apps list and thinking ooo, i could up date it - but resisted :)

btw: dGB has been running flawlessly now for 3 days - thanks Dan - great work :)

sorry to ask more questions but when would be the most sensible time to install the manu kernel as I still haven't flashed dGB yet so should I do that just after flashing?

And you flash the man u kernel as any normal zip file is that correct? If so, this is my amended plan of action

1.Do all back ups
2. Wipe/factory reset
3. Flash dGB
4. Flash manu kernel
5. Reboot into fastboot mode.
6. Open up Android Flasher
7.Connect phone whilst in fastboot.
8. Tick hboot on Flasher and find the hboot.img that I've downloaded from the dGB thread then let Flasher do it's thing (how long does this part take and does it say when it's done?)
8.Reboot and re-install apps using Titanium
9. Have cup of tea and relax.

have i missed anything or need to do anything in a different order?

hi guys,

oooo - do i need manu kernel? :) what bit of the rom is it and how is it better than the existing one? thanks

:D nice post trevytrev - have a cuppa with a shot of sumink a bit stronger in it i think after that lot! i know i need it sometimes after a good rom'ing session! :/ :D

Between 4 and 5, boot the rom and check it out. Then boot into recovery and perform a nandroid backup.

Its the recommended one, yeah. Its the kernel, the core of android. Better battery life.

You will have to toggle signature verification for the kernel i expect.;)

thanks - oh no - i feel more rom flashing coming on :D

cool - i want it :)

do i need to do the fastboot stuff? or can i do my normal?
.nandroid back
.apps back
.wipe everything
.flash dGB
.then flash manu

not sure what this bit means? :/ "..toggle signature verification..."

btw: will you include manu in the next dGB release?

Your install of the kernel will probably fail, giving you a signature error. You have to toggle it off first in recovery. I use amon ra recovery and it's under "other". Cant remember for CWM?

thanks - crikey - lucky you told me that - would have been MAJOR stress time if i got that error when i did it! :o :D

cheers

Just take a nandroid backup and flash the kernel. You dont need to reflash the rom or anything.

I will include it when I know how to.

ok cool thanks Dan

just spotted in another thread by Ducky that some peeps were having issue with the manu 2.0 kernel - and not getting better battery that redux :/
......maybe i wont rush into it then :)

Cool. Forgot to mention that I was tinkering with it last night and have a nandroid backup of dGB with a few essential apps on but not all my apps so I shouldn't need to do this. I thought it would be best to restore that back up install the hboot and then just install the apps that I haven't put back on yet.

You may need to nandroid restore after flashing the hboot is all.

The recommended kernel (linked) is 1.4, not 2.0. I don't like 2.0. 1.4 is better battery than redux and 2.0

wow! still 98% after 2hrs :-) cool

managed about 1.5 days of moderate use. not as good as I was hoping but I think
better than previously. the drain seemed to increase after first few hours.

the phone shut down at 19% left. is that something I should be avoiding?
ie it getting that low

cheers
