Root [ROM][AOSP]dGB v01_28_2012| 2.3.5| 375MB /data| 60MB /system |Mult-lang |Unlock |Reboot[28 Jan]

To change you restore nandroid then repatch boot. To remove you must reflash an unpatched boot. So restore via nandroid then reflash the Rom

Cheers Dan. Got it sorted. He says ROM is amazing and has already stated he is getting better signal strength. Both getting an H where we would be getting nothing before. He was using same kernel and radio as with Redux 2.

My signal and 3g have also been superb. Thought it might be coincidence at first or the orange/tmob merger, but definately this great rom. I now get H on 3g at my friends house where i could never get a signal before even with redux. Dan your a genius. :)

hm while dan is genius and i respect him massively as hes from my hood
I cant see how hes done anything that would "improve" reception
this is down to kernels and radios each of which are available pre dGB
hmm

I haven't done that on purpose although I wish I had. I did change some of the core source to 2.3.5 which may handle things better. Slipped in a minute bit of cm7 but its all just an added bonus really :(

All I can say is same kernel [Man.U 1.4] and radio [5.17.05.08] were used before on Redux 1.2 and Redux 2 and am getting better reception. From no signal to H in identical places [eg same parking bay where I go and pick my son up from work], something has changed. He has noticed a change already. Some things just can't be explained [like why Luton are in the Conference and not the Premier League lol]. Just one of life's mysteries.

Hi, I've been using dGB1.4 for a while now. I upgraded to the latest version last night, I am trying to change the cpu voltages in 95havsvdd.

I've found the file in root explorer, opened with the internal text editor but when I save & exit none of my changes have been saved.

Tried to save before exiting and get the same results.

Anything I might be doing wrong?

cheers, Dave

EDIT: Never changed root explorer to R/W was set to read only!

your network increased capacity in your area?
3g/Hsdpa is spannable which basically means the more people using it the less range it has

for myself i get exactly the same as i did on other aosp roms when i use manu1.4
im not knocking dans rom at all, its the best rom ive used. however i reckon its something else

Oh I know you aren't knocking Dan's ROM, perish the thought that someone would!! I use Giffgaff [o2] and my son uses 3. Perhaps Dan is more of a genius than we think. I am happy to leave it at that :)

Since I started using dGB, West Ham have shot up to a comfortable 2nd in the league. Coincidence? I think not.

SUroot, a quick question for you good sir on the recommended hboot for your rom.

As I don't have a great deal of time over the next few weeks, yet I am keen to flash your rom, I am going for the (60Mb) hboot provided as opposed to the MTD (as I want to spend some time sitting down and reading that as I'm not too sure about it).

If I was to flash your rom and hboot but wanted to go down the MTD route, would I have to do a full wipe, re-flash and start from scratch?

Also, out of curiosity, would you recommend the custom MTD over the hboot? Or the other way round? And why?

I've never gone from a hboot to mtd. Rasta did once and I believe that the custom values were used instead of the hboot. I believe the hboot is responsible by default for determining the layout anyway so that would make sense.

To use a hboot, flash dgb with a wipe. Do an initial Rom set up then nandroid. Then flash the hboot. Be prepared to restore nandroid if it won't boot.

I like custom as you have more control but you have to patch boot every time you reflash the Rom so its a bit more labour intensive. The benefits are minimal with dgb as they only get you an extra 2MB space.

Since I had to flash the hboot to test before release, I never saw the need to go back to custom.

Hboot is lower maintenance IMHO.

To use custom mtd after hboot, I suspect you .just follow the usual documented set up. But to change custom sizes you must undertake the set up again each time.

Definitely start with hboots. On dgb, I doubt you'll see a need for it

Hi,

I'm interested in trying this ROM on my Desire, which is currently running the HTC developer release of Gingerbread. I'm a complete newcomer to this and have never installed a ROM before. I've rooted using Revolutionary, taken backups of everything via MyBackup Pro (plus APN backups using APN Backup & Restore from the market), and taken a couple of Nandroid backups. I've read through the rooting FAQ but still have some questions...

1. My Desire has a 4GB micro SD card in it. I've copied the contents of the card to my PC. Do I need to repartition the card / erase it / reformat it?
2. I've downloaded the 65MB hboot, plus the dgb .zip file, and also the new kernel as mentioned on the OP. Is this all I need?
3. As for the install order, am I right in thinking I do the following:
a) Go to CWM and do a "restore to factory settings"
b) Flash the hboot via CWM.
c) Install dgb.zip via CWM.
4. What about the new kernel? Where / when / how do I do that?
5. Is there anything else I need to do then? Obviously restore my stuff from my backups / Google (e.g. download my apps again, restore my SMS, reconnect to my Google account to get contacts / calendar) but what about the audio stuff mentioned on the dgb site (the link doesn't work by the way) or the apps listed there, or the fonts?
6. If I install this and don't like it for some reason, do I just reboot to CWM and restore my previous backup?

Thanks for your help and patience. This looks like a great ROM.

Hi,

1- nope. Whole idea of this Rom is your sd card will be 100% sd card. Plenty of space for 100+ without partitioning your sd

2- you should Google Md5 checksum. We have a couple of apps in the ultimate toolbox. Ensure the output you get from the bootloader matches the Md5 hex string on the dgb site. If they match, its safe to flash

3- I would:
backup apps (titanium is better)
Nandroid backup
Wipe / factory reset
Flash Rom and kernel in that order
Boot Rom and initial setup
Nandroid backup
Flash hboot
If doesn't boot, nandroid restore dgb backup

4- as above

5- that should be fine. Which link, the UI stuff? You don't need it, its just the camera shutter noise and unlock screen noise. Fake mechanical.noises annoy me

6- yes but don't forget nothing else will fit in this hboot. Wipe data, flash new hboot, flash new Rom..

:)
