Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

tickerguy thank you for all the work you've done on this ROM... I'd consider switching to T-Mobile with that kind of a plan myself, especially for better signal from T-Mo... If it's postpaid how long is that contract?

Incidentally, does B06 include the reduction in power usage you were referring to last week?

Also.. if you do decide to leave, would it be possible to re-compile to include overclock capability please, as a last hurrah? :)

I'd say it does :). Running B.06 w/ JD I am at 37% battery left after 1d 7h 30m 29s on battery.

Noob alert:

I'm getting my Triumph soon and am excited to get CM7 on it. Just curious...is the latest kernel included in this build? I saw a guy on YouTube flashing an Alpha build and he had a separate kernel file that he flashed on top of it. Is this still necessary?

I believe that the kernel you saw them flash over the ROM was Isaac's overclock kernel (Triumphant).. which is no longer supported by Tickerguy's CM7. Just thought I would add that to clarify exactly what kernel was at one time flashed over the ROM.. and as Tickerguy said everything is included in this ROM :)

That's what I figured. I may have missed this from earlier in the thread somewhere, but is there some way to still be able to put the phone into deep sleep?

Edit: I see now that power management was modified in beta 5. I'm still on 4 and just haven't gotten to around to updating yet. Hopefully it'll get better with the newer build.

TG, ever consider taking donations that can then be used to put down for VM service so you can continue working on the ROM or is it once you switch providers, the interest to work on the rom is gone?

B.06 (which is up) and 07 are different (at present) only in the light sensor scaling. No other differences; once I push a version I clobber the tree and immediately change the rev number so I don't wind up accidentally putting out two revisions with the same number.

06 has all the power management advancements. It's "as good as it's going to get" in that regard, and it's damn good. It blows away the Vibrant running CM7 by a monstrous factor in standby (look at the image up above); the difference is not small.

Of course that's what focusing on power consumption at the kernel level for a while gets you, which the Vibrant doesn't have as a factor at this point - I'm running another guy's kernel and haven't even looked at the issue.

As for taking up donations to keep a line active on Virgin I suppose I could, but I don't really like the idea very much as then people get expectations, and I'm just not into that. Besides, the fact is that there's really not much more I can do with this platform right now - HDMI is possible, but the interrupt storm problem is probably unfixable without libra source, and that's the only real remaining issue that's bad enough to complain about.

The only other issues are nuisances - the front camera not mirroring (which has resisted my attempts to fix it thus far and is likely again in a library I don't have source for) and the haptic issue. The latter I've put some time into but wouldn't call them exhaustive.

So I've got two issues that can probably be fixed and two that are likely beyond resolution unless someone can beat source code out of Motorola - and the latter is not very likely.

Incidentally this phone is very nice with GB on it compared to other Android handsets I've owned and used. I think it outclasses the Galaxy that I have here, which is really saying something. It definitely outperforms it; it's MUCH faster despite having the same nominal processor speed. And it's more frugal with power.

So I think y'all got a flagship here, even if I stop working on it. You got two reasonably-fixable issues remaining, and two that absent a lot of blind luck require source to fix - but neither is disabling, just a pain in the tush.

Not too shabby, given the time I've had to put in on it.

ticker! i love the work you have put into this rom! :D i bet you could make a sick froyo based rom... with all the smali, java, script editing you know how to do. the phone would be 100% full potential! :p

Anyone else having trouble sending email in the GMail app? I click send and it sits there for awhile then (I assume) that times out, and it saves a draft. The draft saves just fine, so I know I have a connection! Plus I see the 3g icon and 2 or 3 bars and I can read email just fine.

This has been happening the whole time I have been on CM7. To be honest I can't remember exactly, but believe I sent emails on stock.

Uninstall Gmail, and reinstall from the market.

I had unintentionally moved gmail to my sd card and it started acting funny like that...btw thanks for all the hard work, ticker. This ROM is outstanding.

1) If whoever I'm talking to hangs up before I pull the phone away from my face, the phone takes an incredibly long time to start responding again. The screen will stay black despite pressing the unlock button, for at least 15 seconds. The buttons do not light up either.
2) When connecting to wifi via the settings screen, I get the force close prompt. I press wait and it connects fine though.
3) Sometimes starting up the camera, the preview is rendered as if it's taking the portrait image, rotating it and then stretching it to landscape. Stays that way even rotating the phone. I tried to grab a screenshot for you, but it didn't work.
4) Trying to change to video mode from the front camera results in a black screen. Controls are still there, and seem to react fine, but there is no image. Changing back to still image mode results in a force close. Have to change to front camera, select video, then go back to main camera to get video.
5) YouTube app portrait video is glitchy.

Using 10/30 build

These are the only bugs I can find besides what's listed as known. This rom is awesome and it keeps getting better. Great work man. :)

problem 1 happeneds to me a lot its annoying but I can live with it for now and I'm constantly having force close on camera when I switch

If you plan on making B7 your 'final' build, can you please remove all the kernel debugging code from it?

Also is there any reason you don't set SmartassV2 as the default governor?

1. Make sure you are running the latest version of the rom and have tried a clean load.
2. The camera fc issue is fixed by restoring defaults within the camera options.

It is nice to see Juice Defender getting some well deserved love. Being in an area with an extremely poor signal I absolutely love the Wi-Fi location options. I started using the feature on the stock Rom and after about a month I think I have just about every available Hotspot in town set-up from Friends & families houses to restaurants and stores. I am about to enable the CPU control option and would appreciate any feedback regarding its effectiveness in saving battery power from anyone who is either currently using this option or has in the past. Have also considered just using setCPU adding profiles for screen off and battery levels.

Can anyone tell me why all of my FFC pictures look like this? I've reset to default, and still, this is what I get every time I use the front camera.
