Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

Tickerguy, say someone were to do those things and they would support us would we then get cm9 cause were offically supported?

This is correct. I've been reading up on ICS and I'm researching what things will need to be updated in order for ICS to work correctly on the Triumph. From what I've read, touchscreen/input problems and audio (or lack thereof) seem to be the biggest issues. Input device processing has changed for 4.0 and the current touchscreen driver for our kernel will need to be updated.

[DEV]Porting Touchscreen driver for Android 4.0 (ICS) ROMS - xda-developers

will that help you with the touchscreen for ics ! :)

I know you already have CWM, but follow the steps in this post. Skip the stuff about CWM since you already have it on your phone, and it will guide you through the rest of this.

NOTE: On this release and forward the "Gapps" (Google Apps) must be separately downloaded and flashed after you load the ROM (before booting the first time is recommended):

http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip - Base Google Apps

http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-newtalk-signed.zip - Google Talk (if you want it)
...

IF YOU FORMAT /SYSTEM AND DO NOT REFLASH BASE GAPPS AFTERWARD MANY THINGS WILL BREAK. That package contains all of the Google connections to Android - the authentication for your contact list, email, sync settings and more.

It is generally safe to not format /system if and only if you are coming from one of my previous ROMs in the same series (e.g. Beta, etc) and you have not manually tampered with any files in the /system area or the kernel. If that does not apply then you should format /system and reflash GAPPS or I can virtually guarantee that you will not like the results. If you have changed files under /system, especially if you have replaced any of the stock applications (e.g. the dialer, etc) or the kernel there is a very high probability that the remainder of the load will be out-of-sync with what you did and that can cause serious stability problems. There is no way for me to know what you did in this instance and I cannot realistically provide individual assistance if you have modified system files in the load or on your phone. Please be aware that the framework, kernel and loadable modules are different than stock and in many cases from one version to another as this is a work in progress.
Just the first one, unless you want Google Talk as well, then both of them.

Hello has anyone tried the USB tethering? with the new ROM you can do USB and portable Wifi hotspot but I can't figure out how to make it work. On the USB side the .inf for XP is not working on my machine. On the wifi hotspot I can see the wifi but it fails to give me an ip.

media player question...

I am trying to find a replacement media player. There are some mp3 files (recorded radio archives) that I listen to. I use Dolphin browser to navigate to the site, and then when I click on the mp3 download link, the media player selection dialog box pops up. However, not all the media player installed would show up there, although they all are capable to play mp3 file format. Right now, only the stock android music player and the ES Explorer media player show up. Why is that? Is it possible to include an application to the list?

The reason I would like a replacement media player is because the stock player, when selected (from a browser link to play an mp3 file), would not play in the background (only a pop up music bar is shown, which exit when switching to another app). I remember in the stock rom, the behavior is different, that it would open the music player itself, which could play in the background.

Thank you!

Hey guys.. Has anybody upgraded to a newer beta and followed TG's suggestions to FORMAT DATA if coming from previous builds and LOST the GOOGLE account, thus not being able to use Market Place etc? This has happened to me everytime and wind up having to completely FORTMAT SYSTEM and Install fresh..
Is it safe to just upgrade to 0.8 without formatting data? Or a way to ADD GOOGLE account once it has been deleted?

*i did try to add google account when lost it during format data and install of new build but it the option wasn't there*

Thank you in advance.

When you format /data and /system you delete the google apps. CM7 does not include the google apps because they are not open source the license is owned by google. There is a link here to download the google apps which you should definitely do if you want to have a functional phone.

Formatting /system and /data is not required but if you have issues when moving from beta to beta that is the remedy so it's just recommended to avoid headaches later on.

Thanks so much for this ROM! I was at my wits end with the screen flicker issue and I was about to return it when I decided to see if CM7 could possibly fix it and sure enough it did!

No real issues to speak of so far, except I can't connect to my home wifi network for some reason. It is currently secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK but when I try to connect it just disconnects automatically. Any ideas?

Is the ssid hidden? CM7 won't connect if it is. I think there is a work around, but it is rather involved if you don't really know what you are doing.
If not, try resetting the router. That fixes most issues.

They were saying they lost the google account when wiping data, but not system. /system has the apps and /data has your information for them. So wiping data would remove the account info, but I don't see why you couldn't just add it again.

My apologies if this is off subject. I was curious about Dolphin browser. It seems like most of you guys are using it. Why do you prefer it over the stock browser?

Nope, not hidden. I did reset the router once already, but I'll try again and see if that helps anything. Sounds like this isn't a common problem, so I guess that's a good thing.

ROM Manager is useless on the Triumph, so don't plan on using it for anything.

I cannot purchase from the android market after the flash, is this fixable?

Hi: You really would do well to read all of page one of this thread. You did not flash google apps (gapps) after you installed the rom or you didn't sign in to your g mail acc't or didn't create one. Quoted from tickerguy on page one of this thread...

Anybody here use Launcher7 with this ROM? There has been a lot of talk about improved battery life/performance from this ROM vs stock, but I just don't see it. Hence, my question about Launcher 7.

The only way I have seen battery improvement is if I use JuiceDefender (which delays the use of Launcher7 when it is re-awakened bec. the wifi starts trying to turn itself on) or manually put it in airplane mode.

Don't get me wrong, not knocking this ROM, just wondering if anyone else has a similar experience with this launcher and ROM together.

Thanks in advance!

I can only speak for myself. I have been unplugged for about 11 and 1\2 hours. and you can see what my battery life is like. Now for me, I have launcher Pro, I leave my phone on my tool box most of the day, I'm running SetCPU to put my processor to 122mhz, I've used the OC Kernel from Isaac87 or mantera to run in an undervolted state. I don't run my WiFi if I'm not using it. I have it set to not turn off when the screen is off. Now my wife on the other hand will kill her battery EVERY day.
