Root [ROM] CM7 TG-Reloaded (Final: 03-25)

Is it wrong/rude/illegal to decompile/reverse engineer the drivers?
I'm sure there is a reason that it's not done.

The reason not all source code is released (and only the linux kernel part is because they're legally required due to Linux's licensing model). They have to protect the intellectual property of Broadcom, the maker of the Wifi/BT chip. They wouldn't want a competitor to copy their algorithms if it somehow has better battery life, or performance than others. As for decompiling, that's an even harder route because it would require reading machine assembly code instead of somewhat human-readable C code.

You've heard my story. Maybe I change my usage habits to make your ROM more realistic. Changing ROMs on the fly to suit my needs sounds appealing, but don't you have to replace your widgets every time?

Any suggestions?

No need to replace widgets, NANDROID (in recovery) backups & and restores EVERYTHING in a ROM. All the settings, it's like taking a snapshot. Not to be confused with Titanium Backup, which is an APP that can cause more problems than the convenience it offers.

With the samsung intercept with cwm 2.0 or so you could manually set the system data and cache to ext2 or ext4 or rfs.

With the triumph in latest version of cwm I can't see where you can set it to ext2 or ext4. This rom says it uses ext4 but also supports ext2 and 3 if im not mistaken

My question is can you set the system to ext2/4 anymore and if so how?

Any suggestions?
I leave wifi on at my house all the time as well, though it's not automated. Via the notification power widget, I turn it off when I leave, and turn it back on when I get home. You can do the same thing with bluetooth. Sure, it's slightly more of a hassle to not have it all automated, but that's the beauty of having it on the notification bar -- all it takes is 2 seconds. (I've personally found that automated solutions seem to use more battery anyway.) And if you use WidgetLocker for your lockscreen, you can even pull the notification bar down without having to unlock it, which is quite convenient.

I believe TG meant it uses ext4 by default as it mounts /system & /data as ext4, but can read other filesystems if you mount them. Not sure if that setting is user-configurable. You may have to rebuild the ROM or kernel from source to switch. Mantera may know more about this since he's done more with kernel performance tweaks like this. I'm sure there are some tweaks that can get higher benchmark scores. But I'm more interested in everyday use smoothness & good battery life.

How do you do that? Mine wont pull down.

In the tool mode, make sure you have disable notification bar unchecked. (Menu>settings>Buttons & Input) You might also need to have Allow interactions enabled there. Also make sure you have Hide notification bar unchecked under Look & Feel.

If that doesn't do it let me know, we'll get it set up. :D

Just flashed this ROM. Used titanium backup and got everything running nicely. I just want to know how to overclock to 1.5ghz, if that's safe.

In Settings - CM Settings - Performance - CPU Settings - Change max frequency to something higher, but DO NOT check Set on Boot until you're sure the phone is stable at that speed for a few days (every phone is different). Then may check that box so it automatically sets it on every reboot. Also google "android overclocking risks" for more info before doing that. I don't recommend it personally, the gains are minimal, but it's an option.

I have installed cm7. Runs great on my triumph except one flaw. Every since I installed (following all directions) My screen or my touch buttons (home, menu, back, etc.) randomly will not respond. Only way to get them working is by locking the phone then unlocking. This is not a error in my triumph because I can reinstall stock rom and no problems. only when I use cm7. Any Ideas??

How long have you been on stock ROM? Maybe not long enough to notice it? This seems like a general issue with the MT, on any ROM. It happens rarely, but still annoying. So far no fix is available. You could try the kernel I posted yesterday in this thread to see if that fixes it. I haven't noticed it recently.

4 days ago I installed cm7. went a whole day with it, screen randomly not responding unless locking and unlocking so i switched back next day to stock. no problems all day. Switched back to cm7 yesterday problem started again. Still on cm7 today, seeing if i could find a solution before making the switch once again. Ill try the kernal.

Also how do I install the kernel? Very new to this. Follow directions very well though. lol. If you could give me a link or just tell me. Thanks.

Does our android use "fstab" to mount the partitions? I know BRandom14 changed the mounting from ext4 to ext2 to remove jernaling. He also made a kernel for those who wanted the jernaling via ext4. He said ext4 is backwards compatable to ext2 and would run faster because it doesn't need to wright the jernal.
Weather jernaling is important or not is up to debate. But as much as I crashed my phone with undervolting, I want it.;)

Any one else have problems with the Amazon Market after install?

update
For some reason the install nuked my amazon market app. a quick re install of the app brought everything back and I didn't even need to re enter my password.

Thanks for picking this up, this is the only ROM that does not drop BT, thank you so much. BTW, the bat life is great and the ROM is rocking. Keep up the great work, I owe ya some beer money :)

Thank you so much for fixing the BT, it now works without disconecting and conecting every 15 minutes, my BT has never droped with this ROM and I am on it all day. Also the bat life is great. For those that might be having trouble with the flash try this:

1. Wipe data factory reset.
2. Wipe Cache.
3. Wipe Dalvik.

After you flash the ROM and Gaps repeat steps 1 - 3. It worked for me and when I do this I noticed everything is consistant.

Anyway, keep up the great work and thank you again so much...

Thanks for the help Whyzor!! Took titanium backup off, reflashed and installed all apps from market. It is, working great now and love how smooth the rom is!

Thank you so much for fixing the Bluetooth. I no longer get the connect disconnect issues. I have been using my Bluetooth for 2 days now and it is never disconnected. Before I switched to your ROM I would get disconnected about 15 times a day. Also, if anybody is having trouble flashing do a wipe data factory reset, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache after you flash the ROM and Gaps. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
