Root [ROM] CM7 TG-Reloaded (Final: 03-25)

with the touchscreen having its own pipe line now would that have fixed the problem of some games like shadowgun where the character flips around and what not because of points colliding?

Nope the axis still snap together :/. I also still notice lag/ unresponsiveness when using the new kernel, although it is a lot better, but still there...

I believe it's in system/etc/firmware/wlan/qcom_cfg.ini. And I believe the line you're looking for is "gTxPowerCap=30." You would then change the value 30 to your desired value. I may be wrong, but this was what was mentioned in the original CM7 thread. I've modified this value in the past and didn't really notice any substantial improvement in battery loss or decrease in the performance of the wifi, though I didn't really do any significant testing, so there may/may not be any merit in modifying it.

What would that numeric value indicate? Milliwatts? I have custom firmware on my router and I know changing the transmit power makes a HUGE difference in performance but it also makes my router too hot if set too high. I wonder of there is a hardware limit to how high this value will actually perform. I also assume it could save battery life if reduced.
If its milliwatts I may try to reduce it by half and see if my idle battery drain improves.

As far as I know, yes, it's milliwatts.

After all the talk about wakelocks, I finally downloaded better battery stats to experiment with.
After fresh boot I checked BBS Raw kernel wakelocks and found none.
Then enabled BT, checked again, again nothing. Enabled wifi, still none.

Then I killed the screen and went for a smoke. When I unlocked screen, I checked System Tuner Pro for sleep times and found none (as expected, with BT and wifi on). Checked BBS and found 2 of each mmc 0,1,2 with times of about 2 1/2 minutes each.

Then I turned off BT and again killed screen, and went for a smoke.

When I checked again, still no sleep time, and 1 of each of the pairs of mmc 0,1,2 had gone up to about 7 1/2 minutes while the other set still said 2 1/2, as before.

I assume this indicates that they were released when BT was disabled.

Next, I turned off wifi, killed screen, got coffee, puffed on E-cig ;) and then unlocked screen.

This time System Tuner Pro reported about 3 minutes of sleep time and BBS still showed all 6 mmc wakelocks with the same times as before (half of them @ 2 1/2 and the other half @ 7 1/2).

I don't really understand exactly how BBS reports, but it seems that all of the mmc wakelocks were released, and deep sleep mode was allowed.

I don't know if ths will help anyone, but all seems to be working fine here.

Thank you so much for the frequent updates! I'm quite pleased with the progress you've made with this ROM; it's much better than it was before you started working on it, in my opinion. Thanks again. :)

weird... installed 01-21 right now and got stuck on boot animation. phone restarted its self and got passed it. everything is running smoothly now, just kinda freaked me out._.

Just tried the Groove IP/ Bluetooth/ Wifi combo again. It range out once and I heard it through the blueooth but then the wifi shut down immediately after that. As soon as I shut off bluetooth the wifi comes back up. I am using a plantronics and not motorola bluetooth. Any chance that has an effect? Or a possible messed up setting in Groove IP? Works fine on the Fidelio dock to run both for streaming music etc.

Whyzor:

Do you know what specific tweaks tickerguy made so that wifi stayed on after the screen turned off? I suspect that may be the cause of my mmc wakelock woes, but I can't find anything of substance in his ROM thread.

He changed the default Wi-Fi sleep policy

You can change it by
settings-->Wireless & networks-->Wi-Fi settings (or hold the Wi-Fi power widgit) -->{menu button} Advanced--> Wi-Fi sleep policy

The sleep policies are self explanitory

Another question: On both my wife and I's phones (both running 1-21 build) the ringtones that are set will ring sometimes and other times it goes to a different default ringtone. Any ideas what would cause that? This is not a huge deal for all the improvements that have come so far but would be cool if we could get it set correctly.

Is the "long press back key kill" gone or am I just missing it? I spent the last 10 minutes looking for it and I feel like a complete idiot. I don't know where it is

Is there a way to re-enable the continuous autofocus that was disabled in build 2012-01-14? Thanks for all your hard work :)

It's in the source, so either build the Camera.apk again from CM's repo, or maybe insert an older Camera.apk into /system/app/ & reboot.

I disabled it because

1) It was hunting continuously, resulting in out of focus videos more often than clear ones.

2) The sensor is small enough on cameraphones like this that in its natural state, the lens has focus on anything from about 3 ft to infinity. So autofocus is really only useful if you switch from distance to really close shooting.

3) Finally it hunts so much I'm betting that a lot of people's AF mechanism broke from it being overworked and worn out.

BTW, you can temporarily lock it to closer focus by switching to still camera, focus on something closer, then switch to video and start recording. Exiting camera app will restore it.

Greetings, everyone! First and foremost, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who is working on this project. I'm not a TOTAL noob to android, just to these forums and this particular phone. I recently lost my crappy intercept(although the first forum I joined, SDX, has helped me a lot with it), and will soon be replacing it with a triumph and putting this awesome rom on it. :) I certainly hope the effort is continued here.

Whyzor's build is definitely up to date. I built one of my own from mantera's source and it works great. Cudos Whyzor, great build and the g sensor fix alone is a great reason to use this daily.

Hello all, long time lurker on this ROM, jumped in today and installed it, and what the heck... created an account here too :)

I'm MIUI free finally, I gave it the old college try. Didn't work out.

Whyzor, thanks sir for your continued support!

Wlcome! :D and enjoy your stay!

For the past week or so, I've been having an odd problem occasionally. Every now and then, the status bar will freeze. I can pull it down and push it up, but I can't use any of the power control buttons, and I can't tap or clear any notifications. It's always solved by a reboot or by killing the status bar process, but it's really odd and kind of annoying. I just updated to the latest build yesterday, and I even tried running a fix permissions in CWM. Any idea what could be causing this/is anyone else having this issue?

By the way, the ROM overall is great! I went from a Samsung Intercept to a Triumph, and almost immediately flashed this ROM. The Triumph by itself blows the Intercept out of the water, but CM7 makes it awesome :D

did the usual and tried to flash 1-21 but now it's stuck on motorola logo and i cant get to recovery. HELP! thanks

i went from muiu to cyanogen. any issue with that?

Pull the battery, and hold the power button down for about 10-20 seconds, then place battery back in, and try recovery mode again

I was thinking about the "phone flashes when on a call" bug. How does the proximity sensor work? If it senses distance, then the threshhold could be too short. If it works like an LSD, then I don't know.
