Root [ROM] CM7 TG-Reloaded (Final: 03-25)

Maybe, it reverts some of the attempts to fix the wakelock I've made before that may cause instability. It's a recommended update. I will include it in the next ROM build if there aren't any major problems reported.

Just had the Status Bar freeze up on me. I'm on the 1-25 build with the 1-31 kernel.

I've yet to experience any status bar freezes (I run pretty minimal setup). The upstream CM7 fix for this was commited on 1-22. So has anyone noticed this problem before that date? (before TG-Reloaded 1-25/26 builds). If not, maybe that broke things for our phones & I can try to revert the changes. Basically trying to see if this is a recently new problem or not.

Well I'm running the 1/25 build with the 1/18 kernel and don't have any status bar freezups.

I've never experienced this notification bar freeze issue not once yet on latest build or any other one and I run with default settings, nothing turned off or anything. I'm very happy with build and loving the battery life.

I only had it happen one other time but I can't remember what build or kernel I was on. I think it was right before I flashed the 1-26 kernel so I would have been on the 1-25 build with the 1-18 kernel...I think. Was there another kernel uploaded in between 1-18 and 1-26? I DO know that it never happened to me when I was on the 1-14 build.

OK...What happens is when you get a notification and swipe down to bring the notification screen down, then swipe the notification itself to the left or right to get rid of it, it freezes half-way through the swipe action and the notification itself is then stuck there. Then the rest of the notification screen freezes and you can't use the Power Widgets or anything else on the notification screen. The only way to get rid of it is to reboot the phone.

See below...the notification that says "ed Threads". It will get stuck just like that and then freeze everything. You can still swipe the screen up or hit the home button to go back to home screen, but if you swipe the notification bar back down, it is still frozen.

My status bar froze twice yesterday, 1/25 build with 1/18 kernel. This is the first time it's happened. I will install 1/31 kernel and report back if I have any issues, thank you.

Ahh, it's the left/right swipe feature in CM7. I never use that (just hit the clear button). That feature is new & still buggy, will just have to wait for CM7 to update it more. In the meantime, don't use left/right swipes.

BTW This is why detailed problem reports are good. One liners are NOT.

Same here, I don't use it, that's why I don't get it.

I don't use it that often either. Only once in awhile if I have multiple notifications and I want to keep some of them there as a reminder and only get rid of one. That's probably why it's been intermittently reported because not many of us use it all the time.

Now that I it's mentioned, I accidentally swiped right on a notification and that is when it froze. So yea, sorry I forgot to mention that.

I get the freeze occasionally if my aim is bad when I try to open a notification and accidentally cause it to swipe slightly to one side.

Edit: In fact JUST after typing this tried to open a notification and missed and froze the bar!

GreyCelt-curious as to your Theme of your MT?

I'll see if I can disable that feature in future builds.

I like it. And others use it. I would rather have a buggy feature then not have the feature at all. The worst that can happen is cause us to have to reboot and those that don't even use it are not caused a problem by it.

P.S. I still love what you have done with the rom. I am so glad you are keeping this going. I noticed the camera app opens way faster now too.

There's probably a bug in the code on the MT that makes it low. I've heard others say using an app like DSP Manager or Volume+ can boost it. The couple of times I briefly used the headphones, it sounded fine.

I have a new kernel uploaded, it should fix the wakelock issues, or at least show up as "wlan_lock" or "bt_lock" in betterbatterystats instead of MMC or "event", if it's TG's or my code that's doing it.

WhyKernel-01-31.zip

I'm unable to download the latest kernel on my phone or computer. Just refreshes the page.

It looks like the first report of it here was on the 23rd... So maybe from the 14 build??

Anyway, it seems that the CM7 fix (specifically for the notification swipe freeze -race-) didn't fix it at all. The only time it ever happened to me was yesterday, when I accidentally swiped it. I've swiped them before, but hardly ever.

I've had it happen once on 1/25 and once on 1/26. But I swiped notifications twice just now, and a couple times in the past couple days, and it didn't occur, so it's obviously very intermittent.

I too like the feature as well, as there are times where I do want to keep a notification up and clear the rest.

As a sidenote, cm7 has had that feature for quite a while, so I'm not sure it could quite be considered "new."
