Root [ROM] CM7 TG-Reloaded (Final: 03-25)

Anyone else having problems with Google Listen podcast app?

I was trying to download my podcasts over wifi and it kept timing out. Specifically, I was trying to download Science Friday and Car Talk, each about 20 MB. It would download anywhere from 3 to 15 MB before freezing up the wifi. I would not be able to access the internet or anything for a little while although the wifi indicator on the phone never turned off. In less than a minute, connectivity would be restored, but I would need to restart my podcast download from the beginning. I tried several times and even tried going back to the 02-02 build. Eventually turned off wifi and was able to download over 3G.

I tried to download some other random 20MB file over wifi and had no problems with that.

I could be wrong in this direction, but what is your sleep policy for your wifi?
If you long press the wifi widget on your notification bar
wifi--> "menu button" advanced--> wifi sleep policy, I set mine to"never sleep"
Before I changed my setting (under stock) I would loose what ever I was doing when the screen turned off.

Do the soft buttons work on this ROM? I hadn't noticed before but my lights never come on. I was on 2-8 or so, decided to try 2-18 and see if it works. No go.

I have a feeling it is my brand new replacement Triumph though. This is my third so I hope I am wrong.

I have a new kernel for those who want to help test. The only difference from the 2-19 kernel is it has INPUT_GPIO disabled. And the only difference between 2-19 and 2-18 included in last ROM is extra encryption support. If you want to help test that this hasn't broken anything, or improves some things, download it below. Only people who pay attention to details and are willing to experiment should proceed. If you notice any changes, flash back to a stable kernel to see if it's reproducible.

The INPUT_GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output) was enabled before and I'm trying to streamline the kernel, less inteference from components that aren't used). So far I've verified most sensors and input/out still work.

WhyKernel-02-23_NO_GPIO.zip

For reference, here's the older 2-19 stable kernel:

WhyKernel-02-19.zip

Reports of "x, y, z all still work" are welcome too, not just problems. I don't want to have to guess that no feedback means everything works.

Yes soft buttons should work, check your settings in CM Settings - Display - Auto Backlight - custom levels. If that's the only issue with your replacement, I woud say keep it. I turn off the cap buttons anyway because of light leakage.

I'm almost positive it's a problem with the app by your description.

Second, on that camera bug with the EXIF data, is that for any app that uses the camera writes the date wrong or just the default camera app?

It's all camera apps, search for a PC app that can do batch set of EXIF data if you need that info to be preserved.

I've been trying out all the different apps and settings and at least so far everything does work with the new kernel. It also might be my imagination or wishful thinking, but everything also seems much more responsive with much less lag time in opening programs, switching screens, etc. Again this is not scientific calculation but general observation.

Thanks for your great work as always!

Yeah I checked the settings and it should work. I fired up the triumph I have to return and the lights do work on it. I usually turn the lights off too. I'll probably keep it since everything else is perfect so far, just a bummer. Lol.

Great job on the ROM, thanks for keeping the dev going on the Triumph.

Can you enable Infrastructure-mode(AP) with Wireless Tether for Root Users in the market?

btw I tried hotspot tether again today and had no problem at all. I guess the previous problems might have something to do with cell signal. Poor cell signal causes the phone to switch between 3g and 1xRTT or takes a long time to establish PPP connection.

I do agree. The new kernel seems more responsive. So far looking good.

Does anyone know if speeding up the window/transition effects in Spare Parts drain battery faster? Common sense would tell me it drains faster but my (crude) testing has not shown such results. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

Exactly. I only hope the next build can fix these 2 problems, then it will be a perfect ROM!!

1. proximity problem: while in call, move phone away from face, screen should turn on, but it did not.
2. when display gets turned off due to idle, it should dim for a short period.

Maybe the gain(or loss) is too small to be noticeable.

The difference is probably too small to notice. Usually computers's CPU clock is raised to do all the fancy transitions, but a faster window transition just skips more frames instead of slower animations. so the total actual "power" needed to do the transition may be less. There would be more a difference in on vs off, rather than fast vs slow.

1. proximity problem: while in call, move phone away from face, screen should turn on, but it did not.

I think this behavior gets rid of the phone from locking up if the other side disconnects a call first. So it's either that or this, and I'd prefer this behavior because usually the phone dims when placed by ear, which is important so buttons don't get accidentally pressed. But it's very rare that I need to pull the phone away during a call to press something. Try turning on 'call settings' - 'always use proximity' and 'power button ends call'.

Can you enable Infrastructure-mode(AP) with Wireless Tether for Root Users in the market?

Wireless and USB tethering is built into CM7, so there's no need for third party apps. And it already uses infrastructure-mode by default.

I noticed that as well using the new kernel WhyKernel-02-23_NO_GPIO.
It locks the screen when away from my face. I have to use the power key to unlock.

But it's very rare that I need to pull the phone away during a call to press something.
I pull the phone away and use the number pad for voice mail menu options and other automated menu calls.

I think something in CM7 changed recently that started this behavior, not the kernel (kernel 2-18 behaves the same). I'll look into it when I have some more time.

Has anyone tried the Wiimote Controller app on this rom? I can't get it to recognize any Wiimotes on Tickerguy's CM7 Beta 8 FINAL. Has anyone tried this app on CM7 TG-Reloaded?

I got it to work but it doesn't work well for every game. I haven't figured out how to map all the on-screen buttons to the wii controller for things like minecraft and gta3. I read somewhere that it is only useful for emulators.

I'm in 2-18 and no video media works. YouTube, flash in browser. Even videos on SD card through mx player. Tried wiping and flashing again. Same issue. Not too big a deal but when I wanna watch a video and cant its like -__- haha

It works for me and no other reports of it broken on 2-18. Your phone is probably keeping some data or settings from other ROM versions that isn't being wiped. May have to do a factory reset.

Hey Whyzor i was wondering for a long time now why my youtube app is very choppy or glitchy? is this a known problem? please help thanks!

Depends on if you're using wifi or VM's 3g data. VM's 3G data network is really not good enough for streaming videos. Wifi should be fine.

Most (all) videos in Portrait view are glitchy on the Gingerbread ROMs we currently have....unless you enable 180 rotation to view the phone upside down

I'm running CM7 TG-Reloaded 02-02 build and never had a problem with youtube in portrait or landscape mode. Just running on wifi though. I don't have experience with any other builds.

I am having a problem with Google Latitude reading kilometers and meters, instead of miles and ft. I've searched everywhere and don't see a solution to switch to the USA standard; non-metric. I live in the USA and have never left the country.

Great job on the CM7 ROMS, Whyzor, and everyone else involved!!! They only keep getting better.
