Root [ROM] CM7 TG-Reloaded (Final: 03-25)

I just increase the time for screen to auto sleep to 2 minutes.

I did increase the screen timeout from 30 seconds to 1 minute, which makes the broken auto-dim less of an issue, but it would still be great to have it working again.

Try customizing the settings in Settings - CM Settings - Display - automatic backlight - Use custom - Enabled & Edit other levels

I did try setting up my 3 levels, for: Total darkness (or close), Bright sunlight, Everything else, which would work great in theory, but I've discovered that my phone's sensor sometimes, depending on phone position relative to light sources, goes to the minimum 1 lux value even when the room is reasonably well lit (even with no case on the phone), so I can only really set up 2 of my desired levels for automatic control: Bright sunlight (somewhere like 800+ lux per my phone), Everything else, and I'll have to manually set the phone lower when I'm in total darkness.

Any idea if the light sensor can be made more sensitive as the low end?

I did reload TG's beta 0.1 today, and it dimmed before it turned off the screen.
I haven't played with the settings yet myself, but the screen wasn't set for automatic for the first time in months.

Edit: well I just tried it and it didn't work... Wonder what happened.
Maybe some one can run some experiments to see when the dimming was lost. I would start with TG's beta 0.8 first.

The sensor has a hardware limitation to its resolution, TG basically multiplied all values by 30 to get it to work the way it does now.

So you are saying that on with the latest ROM your phone shows gps accuracy and distance with the measure tool in feet/miles and not meters/km?

Additionally, Google maps was not included in the gapps.zip and I had to download it from the market place so how would flashing gapps again fix that issue? Maybe I am confused by what you mean?

I don't use latitude, but GPS or maps uses miles & I never noticed metric measurements, sounds like an app specific problem. The reason I suggested reflashing gapps is there might be versions where the locale is set to somewhere other than U.S, which might default to metric system.

One issue I've been having forever since the first release of CM7 and all the others, is that after just a few hours of use, I suddenly miss calls and texts. This is highly frustrating and keeps me from using CM7, CM9, and MIUI.

I don't get the issues people have with GPS. If you download GPS Status or GPS Test and use the option to clear and download new AGPS data the GPS works great.

I've used Go SMS with the Emoji plugin and it worked well. For the person with the rebooting phone, call into Virgin quickly and get a replacement. This is a problem that will just keep getting worse until you can't even use the phone. I have had 2 Triumphs that had the problem.

I'm having some issues with the touchscreen. They only seem to come up when the phone has been idle for a long time (say, overnight when I'm charging the phone) when I wake up I'll try to type on the keyboard and hitting the backspace will cause letters all over the keyboard to be input like it's not getting the touch points correctly. Never had this issue with any of the previous builds. Usually a battery pull will fix it but sometimes it will creep back 10 minutes or so after rebooting.

Ok well maybe there is some hope for me then. Where do you recommend downloading Gapps? I was going to try downloading from the CyanogenMod wiki

Also do I need to wipe cache or anything before flashing Gapps?

I don't get the issues I am having either but I guess I'm doing something wrong somewhere. The picture below shows what my phone is doing after I clear and then download the AGPS data in GPS Status. Notice the Latitude and Longitude it starts at, the time since last fix, and how many satellites it is supposedly tracking.

I would appreciate any insight to correct this issue.

This the best ROM I've ever used. Highly responsive and nice battery life.

Sorry if this has been covered but I have noticed a minor problem. When I dial a phone call and place the phone next to my face, the screens goes dark as expected but when I pull the phone away, the screen stays black and I have to press the lock/power button for the display to appear. Is this a known issue?

That should be a working version & the one I'm using. Do clear cache & dalvik-cache in recovery mode before reflashing gapps to be safe. The GPS has never worked perfectly well on this phone, it's just better than stock.

The proximity sensor not turning phone back on during phone call is a recently discovered issue. Not sure what went wrong or if it's because of a CM7 change. I added it to known issues in post #1. I may look into it when I have time.

Sounds like a hardware problem with electro-static discharge or bad grounding. I usually notice a milder version of this after a fresh ROM install, but after turning off screen & on it's back to normal.

For some reason my Places app is locating places with distances in Km and not Miles. The actual Navigation app is correctly labeling it in miles, just the places app is not and I'm not sure how to fix this? I tried reflashing gapps but that didn't do anything.

I've been frustated with the proximity sensor during phone call issue a well. I am glad to know that holding the power button turns it back on though. I thought I'd mention that the problem started after I updated from version 2012-01-26. I wiped caches but not system or data when I updated to 2-18. I'm running the latest kernel and have tried the proximity delay in build.prop with no improvement.

On the bright side, Swype seems to be working better now. Not sure if it's the touchscreen updates or me getting better at it.

Just curious... What issues are you having with Swype? I keep trying keyboards and always return to Swype

It just seems that the buttons on the bottom right of the screen (in portrait mode) don't respond correctly. I would blame it on fat fingers, but I don't have that problem with the stock Kb. It's like my screen Isn't calibrated or something. my solution has been to remember to compensate for the buttons I usually seem to "miss."

Sorry for the delay.

from what ive read, its not a triumph problem, its a Virgin Mobile problem

I'm using the newest kernel. Dragging slide bars and using the seek bar in media player to get to a specific time is much easier. Previously it would jump to a different time upon releasing my finger.

One of the things that bothered me was the fact that the phone won't deep sleep with wifi on. Toggling wifi back on took up to 45 seconds when using the power widget which was a bit of a pain. I saw in an earlier post that long pressing the wifi power widget brings you to wifi settings. Now I turn it on from wifi settings and it comes back up in 15 seconds or so. Much better until/if a better way comes about.

Mine is the same, I used to think it the power control pulldown was just not registering my tap, but going into the settings actually does make it go a lot faster.

Great build.... i really like the blue theme in this one. I have a question, Whyzor. I like a bloat free phone with minimalist apps as its quicker and the battery life better. You stated previously that it was safe to remove certain apk apps and i was wondering if that is still true with the current build. Specifically, i'd like to remove the following and was wondering if i do...would it cause harm to the new ROM:

rm /system/media/bootanimation.zip
rm /system/app/RomManager.apk
rm /system/app/Androidian.apk
rm /system/app/CMStats.apk ****** (I see this running in background but I dont even use it)
rm /system/app/CMUpdateNotify.apk
rm /system/app/CMWallpapers.apk
rm /system/app/Cyanbread.apk
rm /system/app/DSPManager.apk ****** (Is this app necessary? It also runs constantly)
rm /system/app/Email.apk
rm /system/app/MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk
rm /system/app/Pacman.apk
rm /system/app/Protips.apk
rm /system/app/ThemeChooser.apk
rm /system/app/ThemeManager.apk
rm /system/app/VisualizationWallpapers.apk
rm /system/app/VpnServices.apk
