Settings - CM Settings - Interface - Status Bar Tweaks - carrier label type - custom text
(available only in build 1-26 & later)
I am having a problem with Google Latitude reading kilometers and meters, instead of miles and ft. I've searched everywhere and don't see a solution to switch to the USA standard; non-metric. I live in the USA and have never left the country.
This has been a problem with all cm7 and cm9 mods. I can't remember if this happens on stock (I didn't run stock long)
only thing I have noticed is that my notification light stays solid instead of blinking with NOGPIO
It is somehow related to CM7 or the flashing of gapps, as it did register feet and miles properly on the stock ROM.
I've been testing the touch screen with the new kernel. To me it seems to be more acurate. Under the old, stock driver, and some later ones for that matter, there was a pull when I would release the screen. In Angry Birds, this would cause a mislaunch of a bird and miss my target. On other apps it wouldn't be a big deal. I guess there was an added "let go" buffer?
Glad you noticed it, my recent commit:
https://github.com/Whyzor/WX_435_Kernel-CM7/commit/1dd100ce5a51259ce682ed16c93edf177d5ea497
got rid of reporting the x & y axis on touch releases, it only reports coordinates on active touches.
thanks for the great work on the rom, just a quick question, does anyone else have problems with phone turning off after screen has been off for a while i find myself turning my phone back on multiple times per day.
So it was a drop of code, not an addition?
Hello! I wanna thank you for this awesome rom! Its really smooth and I love the battery life.
But I've got one question: is there anyway to view emoji on this phone with this rom? My friend's an iPhone user and she likes to use them alot but when she sends them I always get a bunch of question marks and other symbols. I also use go SMS with the emoji plugin and that doesn't seem to help. So if there's anything I need to do please let me know I'd really love to be able to use and view emoji on this sweet rom! Thanks in advance!
When I sent emoji, the app would ask how I wanted to send it. Saying something about the way CDMA (the type of network we have) sends SMS. Could be related to that. Can you test it with a friend who has Go SMS, or maybe Handcent? I used Handcent at the time with my wife, and it worked.
Yes I've tested it with iPhone, Go SMS, and handcent. All the emojis I receive show up as question marks and letters. My friend's also get question marks when I send them some
Handcent has a separate emoji pack that needs to be installed to support it.

Try (re)flashing the gapps.zip again or find a different source, and make sure you're running latest version. It's possible that somewhere it's set as outside of the U.S. locale.
I just installed WhyKernel-02-23_NO_GPIO.zip (I'm using it with Build 2012-02-18).WhyKernel-02-23_NO_GPIO.zip
