Root [ROM] CM7 TG-Reloaded (Final: 03-25)

This is my first smartphone and after a week of online research flashed this rom, and it's great. So much better than stock. I want to thank all the developers and others who post. This forum is great for people new to smartphones. Thanks again!

I am having a problem with Google Latitude reading kilometers and meters, instead of miles and ft. I've searched everywhere and don't see a solution to switch to the USA standard; non-metric. I live in the USA and have never left the country.

Do you remember if this happens when typing the location or speaking the location ?

I believe it is speaking the location

This has been a problem with all cm7 and cm9 mods. I can't remember if this happens on stock (I didn't run stock long)

WhyKernel-02-23_NO_GPIO.zip

I just installed the above kernel and see no issues.

Tested LUKS encryption, music, video, gps(80sec indoor fix), wifi, market, rotation, sd card access, light sensor, keyboard, screen input.

NOT TESTED: bt, SMS, voice, Voip, Skype, usb, camera, flash, games, battery life.

I've been testing the touch screen with the new kernel. To me it seems to be more acurate. Under the old, stock driver, and some later ones for that matter, there was a pull when I would release the screen. In Angry Birds, this would cause a mislaunch of a bird and miss my target. On other apps it wouldn't be a big deal. I guess there was an added "let go" buffer?

only thing I have noticed is that my notification light stays solid instead of blinking with NOGPIO

Blinks fine for me. Reboot, wipe cache, or factory reset if all else fails.

It is somehow related to CM7 or the flashing of gapps, as it did register feet and miles properly on the stock ROM.

Try (re)flashing the gapps.zip again or find a different source, and make sure you're running latest version. It's possible that somewhere it's set as outside of the U.S. locale.

Glad you noticed it, my recent commit:

https://github.com/Whyzor/WX_435_Kernel-CM7/commit/1dd100ce5a51259ce682ed16c93edf177d5ea497

got rid of reporting the x & y axis on touch releases, it only reports coordinates on active touches.

thanks for the great work on the rom, just a quick question, does anyone else have problems with phone turning off after screen has been off for a while i find myself turning my phone back on multiple times per day.

Never happens to me. It could either be a hardware problem with your phone, or an app or setting that's corrupted. Wipe cache or factory reset and don't overclock or use Titantium Restore if you did.

So it was a drop of code, not an addition?

Yes, the driver code seemed very carelessly written originally & it was probably just copy & pasted from another section without much thought. The commit link above shows a lot of other mods that aren't related, the important lines are around 168,169, & 182, 183.

well my phone has always had random restarts since bone stock, i hope its not a hardware problem, are you using 2-18 build im guessing?

Hello! I wanna thank you for this awesome rom! Its really smooth and I love the battery life.
But I've got one question: is there anyway to view emoji on this phone with this rom? My friend's an iPhone user and she likes to use them alot but when she sends them I always get a bunch of question marks and other symbols. I also use go SMS with the emoji plugin and that doesn't seem to help. So if there's anything I need to do please let me know I'd really love to be able to use and view emoji on this sweet rom! :) Thanks in advance!

When I sent emoji, the app would ask how I wanted to send it. Saying something about the way CDMA (the type of network we have) sends SMS. Could be related to that. Can you test it with a friend who has Go SMS, or maybe Handcent? I used Handcent at the time with my wife, and it worked.

Yes I've tested it with iPhone, Go SMS, and handcent. All the emojis I receive show up as question marks and letters. My friend's also get question marks when I send them some :(

So you are saying that on with the latest ROM your phone shows gps accuracy and distance with the measure tool in feet/miles and not meters/km?

Additionally, Google maps was not included in the gapps.zip and I had to download it from the market place so how would flashing gapps again fix that issue? Maybe I am confused by what you mean?

WhyKernel-02-23_NO_GPIO.zip
I just installed WhyKernel-02-23_NO_GPIO.zip (I'm using it with Build 2012-02-18).

Everything I tested so far works as usual: Camera works, GPS works (under a minute to first fix in "GPS Status" app), WiFi works, haven't test much else yet.
