Root [rom] miui4dx 1.8.19[updated 8/23/2011]

Oh noooooooo BT problems? I thought it was just the commands that were wonky? What are you on now?!? lol

Yeah, I have but the large icons drive me a little batty. I'm using Alt drawer with a combo of like 3 different themes and a lock screen theme. still not quite were I want it but there aren't as many status bar themes as I was hoping for.

Some folks are having bluetooth issues. I had problems pairing and staying connected to the bluetooth in my car. It was a deal breaker for me sadly. Try it out first, maybe it will work for you. The patch was supposed to fix it but it did not for me.

Im on the Liquid ROM now. :) But waiting for OMFGB to drop. ;)

I will be in my car tomorrow at the latest so I will check it out on my drive in. This will be a killer for me as well since I drive a pretty good distance to/from work.

OMFGB is taking too long. :p

Same here which is what killed the MIUI ROM for me sadly.

Agreed, OMFGB is taking to long but I hear its coming soon. ;):p

This is a clean looking rom, but battery life is rediculous. I flashed this and had my screen on and it would literally decreasing like a ticking time bomb. Didn't even want to try to give it a chance to cache.

Don't let that sway your opinion of this (or any other) ROM. I would not expect accurate battery reporting when you first flash a ROM. You should really let the ROM experience at full battery cycle before you can begin to trust the numbers it is reporting. Even better is to let it "soak" for a couple of days to see what type of battery life you can expect.

Ok, this isn't bashing or a rant of any kind but read on....

What does MIUI do over CM7? It is hard to find any real detail. I have been playing with it for about 7 hours now and aside from fancy menus and a launcher, which I don't have much of an affinity for, there isn't much difference. I know I could toss LPP or ADW on it but it seems like that is defeating the purpose of MIUI and it's "prettiness" and if I'm going to run ADW why not just run CM7? I know about mixing and matching themes but none seem as complete and the ones for the theme chooser.

I suppose the similarities are to be expected since they are based on GB but maybe I'm missing something.

The "prettyness" (the UI and the menus and such) ARE the point. It's CM7 underneath, so if you like that, then the only reason to go with MIUI over plain CM7 is the framework changes.

I love the UI customizations in MIUI. It's unlike any other ROM out there. However, people who hate iOS will hate MIUI. It's trying to be as iPhone as possible, and some people like that, and some don't.

Besides the framework UI changes, I don't think you're getting anything in MIUI that you wouldn't get in plain CM7.

I usually have Handcent on any other ROM, but I'm not using it with MIUI because I like their messaging app. I usually have DoubleTwist or some other music app on any other ROM, but the MIUI music app is fantastic. It's stuff like that that's making me keep this ROM on for a while and see how it goes...

That's pretty much what I thought, I just haven't had much sleep and needed a sanity check.

I really like the messaging app as well but with it throwing threads out of order it is really bothering me. As for another app without being able to change the hancent icon to something else on the dockbar makes it stick out like a sore thumb. lol I can't speak to the music app because I use google music beta. ;)

I think my big issue is the icons are so damn big, can you scale them?

P.S. speaking of the messaging app... do you use swype? When I hit home from the messaging app swype stays up after the app goes to the background. It is only about a second but is really visually distracting.

And to think I got called ridiculous for saying about the same thing lol

Give us some time lol

I refer you to Binary Visions post on the previous page. Scroll through quickly and find the post with the most 'thanks' and you'll find it. For starters, sure it's based on CM7 but if it weren't we wouldn't see this ROM for quite a while. The lockscreen changes are huge. So many options with customizing that. The pull down grid of toggles, the long pressing of those toggles to get to customize them, screen shot at the press of menu + vol down, additional settings not seen in CM7, ability to mix and match theme components. You shouldn't say that its just a UI change between the two because that's not giving enough credit to MIUI.

So let's see, since people are having a hard time seeing it, let's go over all of the modifications included in MIUI:

- New dialer, SMS app, contacts app, gallery, camera, notes, file manager and music apps (gee, you'd think I could stop there, since that's half of the stock functionality anyway)

- Nice traffic monitoring/firewall app

- System backup feature

- Swipable notification bar to give you a toggles panel with some interesting functions like a guest mode

- Fully modular theme manager, so you can take any part of any theme you want and piece it all together until you make your favorite mashup

- New lock screen with features like unlocking directly to an app (SMS or dialer), and a singularly awesome feature where you can hold the Home button on the lock screen and directly activate the LED flashlight - without it causing your phone to unlock

- Totally revamped Settings application with far MORE settings than stock, a better layout, and direct access to commonly modified settings sections like Call settings, Gmail settings, etc.

- New battery display option where you can display the battery as a line across the top of the screen and pull it out of the notification bar

- Direct access to screen shot capabilities

That's all pretty much off the top of my head... I'm sure there's more.

So why, again, is this "just CM7"? I guess ApeX and Liberty and such were "just Blur."

Ahh, so it's not just me...

Anyone trying out the 5 point lockscreens? They look awesome and give a little more functionality. Btw, I'm a huge fan of the theme changer, mixing and matching theme parts is awesome. Right now I'm using most of the WP7 Dark theme. Its like I have the best parts of androids, windows, and iOS lol

Thanks for that! I did not know that

Never mind, didn't mean to start all the drama up again.

BTW, Trooper!!!! If you are reading this my battery was shit this afternoon. went from 100% to 88 in an hour with little use. If the BT works for me I can give you a better indication of what I am seeing from the battery in a day or so.

Holy crap man that does suck. Well give it a few days and let it cache. I had decent battery life when I ran it for the few days that I did. Let me know.

FWIW, Im at 62% battery with about 8.5 hours of light usage on Liquid ROM 2.4. Not exactly stellar when compared to Liberty (or even MIUI for that matter) but not terrible either. Its my first day with the ROM so gonna give it a few days for everything to cache.

I tried using JRummy's overclock app to set my MIUI'd X to Ultra Low Voltage and it seems to be getting better battery life.

Sadly, I'm going to flash CM7 because I can't get BT to work on MIUI.

I tried calibrating with QCA but it seems like it wouldn't stop so I just ended it.

And this is why I wont go back to cm7. I also love the dialer and almost everything about it. The best part is the message pop-up. I hated the handcent one but this one is subtle.

so i just installed this rom yesterday and the patch..i love it but one problem thats really annoying
-it reboots when its locked often...idk y its soo annoying

Ya I did all that and reinstalled still no luck im with stock theme

did you happen to restore your apps with titanium? I made the mistake of restoring personal apps + data and it caused some terrible reboots. My solution was to factory reset and then restore only the apps with no data. hope this helps a bit.
