Hi,
>>You can just wipe the caches and install Ver7.5 as it already has the script in system/etc/init.d, if you don't wanna go through the moving process.
How can I tell which version that I have? Is the Ver 7.5 the one on the first note in this thread? If I have 7.5 wireless hotspot should work?
Thanks,
Glenn
I just wanted to ask a question. With version 2, 3 and 4 I got gps locks in seconds. I am now running the latest version with the overclocked kernel. I now gets gps locks like cm7 where it takes between 1-5 minutes. Is it just me or did GPS get worse with the latest version?
I just haven't had the time lately. I get a 3 day weekend, so I'll see what I can do, if I can find the time. The kernel is a pain in the butt, and is very important for stability, so I want to make sure it is good to go before I release it. I have to start over cause some stuff got messed up, and I didn't have a backup. If you want to OC you can still use the try3 kernel in the second post. Thanks for this awesome ROM. Ver 7.5 runs like a champ. I was just wondering if the ver 8 kernel is overclockable yet. I'm not trying to be pushy.
I made the changes in ver7, when I was working on the U9000 ROM. So ver6 is the last one before I made the framework changes for gps. Just figured I would throw that out there if anybody has any input. Plus, I think the network issues lately may be affecting things also.thx for the reply. I tried restoring version 4 where the locks were fast and its still slow so I'm gonna try a fresh install.
Thank you. First, there have been reports that 5.0.2.6 is leaving data behind after a factory reset, I suggest 5.0.2.7. I have also gotten the date issue with backups but it seems to be when doing a backup right after flashing. I think it is network related, as in it has to connect to all the networks and set the time before the date is correct in the backups. I have also noticed the time difference but I thought it was always like that, never really paid attention. The apps auto installing is new, wasn't sure if it was the new play store or the framework edits I made to incorporate Gapps in to the ROM. It may be an issue with the data not being cleared and it still thinks you have a MOTWX435KT, cause play store should see the phone as SH8188U, unless you used one of the build.props from the second post. It may just be all the apps you had installed and some are overlaps between CM7 and Stock, I just can't say for sure. Hope this helps and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.Everybody praised this ROM for the fast GPS lock times so I just had to give it a shot. OMG! The GPS locks so fast, it's unbelievable! Fantastic job BSydz!
Couple of strange things happened in the process and I was wondering if someone can explain what's going on.
I'm running CWM 5.0.2.6 and was running the latest MTDEV CM7 so I wiped data, cache, dalvik and then flashed v7. I rebooted the phone, setup the gmail account, took a short look at the theme and then went to play store app. Huge surprise there: play store is running the latest version already and it's in the process of downloading and installing 60+ apps. I never had this happened to me before! I always had to go in and manually install the apps one by one or do it online from my PC. I started browsing through the list of apps to be installed and realized that it is installing the ones I had on the stock ROM including the garbage stock apps. Why those and not the ones I last had installed on the CM7?
Once this whole thing was over and I setup everything else to my liking, I booted into CWM to make a nandroid backup. I run the backup then rebooted in the ROM again. Connected the phone to my laptop and browsed for the backup and I couldn't find it at first. Turns out it was there, however the folder name was 2010-01-01 xxxxxxx and I was looking for 2012-09-30 xxxxxxx. Now, I checked the date/time on the phone before rebooting into CWM and I know for sure they were correct. I check the date/time again, they look just fine, I boot into CWM again and run a backup and this time it shows the correct date but the time is 4 hours difference.
Thank you. First, there have been reports that 5.0.2.6 is leaving data behind after a factory reset, I suggest 5.0.2.7.
I am pretty sure that no ROM or recovery touches the hidden partition except b_randons Stock ROM and a couple custom ROMS that change the boot logo/animation. The boot sound on my phone has been silent since I silenced it, and has been through many flashes. A couple ROMs like, don't quote me, Froyo Cream Sandwich or Minimal Triumph, change the boot logo/animation and you have to use the Stock ROM or hidden partition zip, to change them back. Sorry, I'm going off the top of my head, but you get the point. When you boot in to a new ROM and your wallpaper or your wifi pass or some setting are already set but you haven't signed in to google yet, that is what happens when data is left behind. Hope this helps.Yeah, I'm almost certain that CWM v5.0.2.6 is leaving data behind after a factory reset. I've noticed it a couple of times now, most recently after I flashed the U9000-81 X6 ROM and it kept my boot animation and (empty) boot sound. When I flash a new ROM I do a factory reset, wipe cache, and wip davlik cache - I do it twice before installing the ROM and twice after installing the ROM (before rebooting) just to be extra, extra sure. Even after all that the boot animation and sound were left behind. Before reading your comment I had assumed it was because the U9000 ROM didn't have a boot animation or sound and that's why they survived.
Well I believe that the CM ROMs are using a file in data or somewhere in the system, they are not changing the hidden partition. I think only the froyo ROMs actually change the boot animation in the hidden partition. Try a different recovery then wipe and see if it still persists. If it was a CM ROM then I would think that it is just left behind data.Well, that would explain it. Some of the other ROMS I've tried were changing my boot animation (CM9 / CM10 for example) so I thought every ROM did it. Thanks for the explanation. I guess the only way to wipe everything completely is to use g60's back to stock ROM (or the stock ROM I saved before flashing my first ROM) and start from scratch? I don't see an option in CWM to completely wipe everything. I guess what I'm asking is, is there an Android equivalent to wiping everything like you would format a hard drive before installing Windows / Linux.
The first issue is that this ROM was googleless, it had Sharp Market, there were no Gapps what so ever with this, I still have to figure out where it sets the search bar default cause if you remove the Sharp search bar, the search button doesn't work. It may be possible, but I haven't heard of google now on anything under ICS. Also I haven't even used google now so somebody would have to chime in to better answer your question.ive done some reserch in this thread and others im trying to figure out if its possible/or how we can get "google now" on this rom it runs so much smoother for me than cm9. Thanks
The system control widget doesn't show CPU, you may be looking at the memory usage. There is from left to right: Battery, Phone Temp, Memory, and the two storages (internal and SD). Hope this clears that up for you.Guys, Im new to this. Thanks to the very specific How To instructions in this forum.
Just installed this Rom im just wondering is it normal that my system control widget shows my CPU usage 70-80% at all times. The only apps I installed was yahoo mail, yahoo weather and Pandora.
