Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

screenshot-1329610792288.png

I think this is a screenshot of what it looks like. All it ever says is connecting. No networks in the area are detected, only all of my saved networks. If the screenshot doesn't work it is because I tried to do this from my phone ha

Methods to troubleshoot:

1- Clear data and cache of the affected system or app, reboot, test
(if still not working, continue)

2- Reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache, reflash rom, reboot, test
(if still not working, continue)

3- Reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache, format boot, system, data, cache, and recovery, reflash ROM, reflash gapps, reboot, test
(if still not working, continue)

4- Place phone on workbench, take screwdriver and place in center of touchscreen, with all your might, slam the palm of your hand against the back of the screwdriver handle, pull out wallet, purchase new phone
(if still not working, continue)

5- Realize cell phones are just not your thing, purchase John's Phone. ;)

Honestly my favorite part of this ROM is that it removes all the crap vm Gave with stock. I've actually got free memory and my phone isn't running ridiculously slow. Seriously thank you

Get your backgrounds ready!

I finally worked out the last bug in the notification background chooser! Testing everything today, build will be up late tonite or tomorrow. ;)

You can now set the background image in the notification dropdown to whatever image you choose. I would recommend you create images that are 320x480 with the main focus of the image down at the bottom. In other words, create an empty image at 320x480, and paste the image you want onto the bottom of it. Like the peeping android here:

Nah first time. I'm late for something but im not moving till my phone is fixed lol that code is killing me and it wont leave air plane mode.

is there a way to turn off airplane mode other then the manu?

http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...virgin-mobile-semi-bricked-my-phone-help.html

Having this exact problem, stuck in airplane mode, no outgoing/incoming calls, text, wifi works, 3g option shaded out(because of airplane mode?) gets that error every 2 seconds....do i really have to bring it back to stock?

Wipe and format everything(except sd-card) via recovery, and reflash.
Hopefully you backed up all of your apps with titanium backup, so you can restore them.
Remember, its always a good idea to regularly backup everything you possibly can, so you can restore them in case of an emergency.

this helped thanks

Jerry I was wondering if you've decided to keep the dalvik the same as 2-6 and 2-12 permanantly now?

Yes. It has worked perfectly for me, with 189 apps installed I can always update or download a new one without the dreaded insufficient space error.

I am now, this almost hurts to type, recommending you use *2sd scripts if you have space issues. Some are easier to use when updating a ROM than others, so please research before applying one.

I hesitate to endorse any particular one, but links2sd appears to have the best support, and there are already threads here with all the help you need.

Thanks for the answer anyway:) I used to use Link2sd but haven't for quite a while now. I use fewer apps as time goes by and keep as many on the phone if possible for max speed, and to keep it simple. In any case 1/31 is a good build, and for that I thank you!:D

I'm more or less doing the same thing, except with several other steps involved:
Check for Quattrimus update..
30 minutes later backup Quattrimus and restore BACKside
BACKside updater.. click
2 hours later, backup BACKside, restore Quattrimus
Check for Quattrimus update..
and so on and so on :p

Give me a few hours ;)

I've gotta push my changes to Github (5-10 minutes) edit: done
sync with CM (20 minutes) edit: done
fix any derped merge conflicts (10-40 minutes) edit: done
do a clean build (45-55 minutes) edit: done
final testing (30 minutes) edit: done
upload (5-15 minutes) edit: done
build GMT (10-60 minutes) edit: done
test the BacksideUpdater with the new manifest entries (10-20 minutes) edit: done
create the notification posts in 3 different forums (15 minutes) edit: done
update the wiki and OPs in each forum (another 15 minutes) edit: in progress

OK, I'm gonna start billing by the quarter hour from now on! ;)

My original suggestion still stands, and especially applies to someone like you who is realizing they don't really need that many apps installed:

Use TitaniumBackup to backup any apps you don't use more than once a week. After backing up, uninstall. When the rare occasion comes around where you need the app, restore it. When finished using, backup and uninstall.

If it's an app you rarely use, it shouldn't be taking up space just sitting around. It only takes an extra 30seconds to 1minute to restore, and another 30seconds to 1minute to backup/uninstall. Not too much of a PITA when you consider this gives your virtually unlimited app space! ;)
