Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

And not to mention that it is always good to regularly check if a backed up app that is not currently installed, has an update available. Checking maybe once a week, or once every couple of weeks is usually a good idea. ;)

New build is up:

GreenMachineTheme-02192012.zip

Changes:
--Synced with CM7.2
-Change to LGEstarRIL may help with mms from some carriers (needs testing)
-More fixes for screen freezes caused by ICS rotation animation
-More fixes for swipe to dismiss in notification dropdown
-Added landscape layout for lockscreen pin screen
-Added an option in notification power widget to automatically switch 2G/3G when mobile data is disabled/enabled
--Added ability to set custom background image in the notification dropdown
--Added an option to disable ICS rotation animations (just in case ;))

New settings locations:
Settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Display>>ICS rotation animation (uncheck if rotations give you freezes)
Settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Interface>>Status bar tweaks>>Notification dropdown background

Note- as with all my mods that require selecting a file via a file manager, you must have OI File Manger installed
(it's included in the ROM ;))

Background images for the notification dropdown should be 320x480. Most of the top 30-100 pixels will be covered by the status bar and notification titles/messages. I recommend you use a base background image with a color of your choosing, then paste the image you want to see at the bottom of it. See the Peeping Android background for a good example.

Note- changes to the background image require either a reboot or using Notification Restart from the Market.

As always, thanks to Blarf, BobZhome, mrg666, tdmcode, LeslieAnn, Whyzor, bigsupersquid, kermikalelite, the CM team, the AOSP team, and many many many more! ;)

*As I'm restoring BACKside to check for updates... i think to myself.. "my phone is taking too long, must check forums now!... refresh.. nope.." *checks android central, notices JerryScript posted in "Building your own rom" thread, refreshes page, JerryScript posts in the IHO thread.. rushes back to android forums, refreshes page. "YES! I KNEW IT!! And just in time cause my phone booted up (finally)!"
And surely enough, theres an update.. i guess i just have a 6th sense for your build updates!! ;)

I just hope that there isnt a Quattrimus update tonight or tomorrow, i would go crazy bouncing back and forth, backing up and restoring backing up and restoring... and testing out all the features of both ROMs and reporting back any bugs.

You should look into the multirom by bigsupersquid and tasadir. ;)

Edit- I think both kernels have to be the same on multirom. :(

*bigsupersquid and tasssadar :p
and yea, they have to be kernel compatible...
im not to worried about it, maintaining nandroids, and keeping the two up-to-date, isnt all that tedious for me ;)

Ran into a bug that I couldn't recreate..
While deleting some texts, I pressed home, went into settings, and changed my screen off time to 30 min. Pressed home, and let it sit there till I got the notification of my texts deletion complete, the 4 face buttons light turned off (completely normal as it should) and so I sat there a while longer, maybe 2-3 minutes, and then I tried pressing the menu button, but I had no response, tried all other buttons, still no response, touch screen was also un responsive, but I noticed that the battery charging animation was still active, widget animations were still active, and the screen still rotated as normal. But any other user interaction did not work. So I unplugged my phone, pulled the battery, rebooted, and its back to normal.
I did a clean install with full wipe, tried to reproduce this occurrence, and I couldn't. Not sure what happened or why it happened, it just did.
Hopefully this will be the only report of this, seeing how I couldn't reproduce it.

Upgraded from the prior build, and no frozen screen
Spoke too soon. Picked up phone and screen was frozen. Felt haptic feedback, so went through motions of unlocking and rotating screen to fix.

Disabled ICS animations and will try a full wipe tonight after work before declaring it is an issue.:)

For what it's worth, I update with every one of Jerry's builds usually the day he posts them. I have yet to have a frozen screen (from rotating). Luck? Who knows.

Did a fresh wipe of everything and installed the new build and green theme again. We'll see how she does now, I'll update my experience after running for awhile. Seems great thus far, just got done resetting up my Link2SD and restoring my apps with TB. An easy to follow guide by benslgdroid on that matter is located here for those that may be interested.

My screen continues to freeze if auto-rotation is enabled, even with yesterday's build.

Have you done a full wipe. If you updated and what ever was causing the error wasn't completely replaced it could have left parts behind. Doing a full wipe would ensure the error is completely removed.

For the record, upgraded to 0219 from 0212. Runs smooth as always but this afternoon I was jamming PowerAmp while doing housework, and the lockscreen froze up. I had to do a battery pull!
Don't know how much is the rotation bug (I still have it, just haven't said anything) and how much is PowerAmp. Version 1.4 was great, version 2.0 has awesome features but is a little buggy on BACKside. It always has been, but this was different. It was the first time I had to pull the battery. I'll try to replicate the problem tomorrow while doing dishes, and post my findings.

I included the ability to keep screen rotations, but disable the ICS rotation animation. Please test with rotations on but ICS animation off as well.

Settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Display settings>>ICS rotation animation
(uncheck and reboot) ;)

I'll do that. I've been following what others have encountered, but I've been kind of stubborn about disabling it. It so frickin' cool when it works, and for me that's been more often than not. Again, I'll start properly troubleshooting tomorrow.

Also the scrolling screen brightness=No go, is not even highlighted in CyanogenMod settings(the option is there, it's just not selectable). Could this be caused by a theme?

Idk if your issue with the status bar brightness has been fixed, but have you checked to see if automatic brightness is enabled? I know I had that problem before and it was because I had my brightness setting on automatic somehow.

Also, forgive me if that's old news lol I got a triumph but I still check here now and again because I gave my optimus to my girlfriend. (She loves the rom btw :) )

Another Bug to report.
Some settings wont 'stick'.. such as Settings>>Display>>Screen timeout, Settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Lockscreen>>Delay and timeout>>Screen timeout delay(and Screen turned off delay), Settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Tablet tweaks>>Disable lockscreen.
so far, i cant revert any changes ive made in any of the listed settings. after i change them, i go to home, and then check to see if the changes stayed, but they dont.

I've become obsessed with changing the notification dropdown. Google (any topic) 320x480.
...and then click on the images tab. ;)

Not sure, but I think BACKside might be the only ROM that offers this built in. ;)
Coming soon, extending this ability to other gui elements!</bragging>

Here is an example for our newest OV owner (you didn't think you owned anything anymore did you brotherswing? ;))
