Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

One thing that bothers me about magpie is Market wont see apps on /sd-ext and you wont be able to update them.

Jerry, wondering how hard is adding QPST connect ability to your recovery(like xionia)?

I first copy Link2SD mount script to the new zipped ROM init.d folder and then updating the old ROM. No need to recreate script after first boot. Link2SD even doesn't know what is happening.
The only thing I do after update is linking dalvik back to /sd-ext.

No matter how I set it I can't get my phone to vibrate unless it is on silent. I normally have it sound+vibrate or vibrate only. But now (since some time in march) I can't get any settings to cause it to vibrate when the sound is enabled. I've been running 01252012 until sometime last week and then I flashed 04012012.

I will probably be going back to my 01252012 nandroid from January and see if I can get it working again there.
 
Hey Jerry, have you noticed any issue w/Airplane mode not showing the little airplane icon in the Status bar? I just noticed it recently when I was on an airplane and was curious if maybe there was some setting I had tweaked accidentally. thanks.
 
Sorry but I have another question. I have been losing 3g a lot since putting on this rom.....Before I called virgin mobile and they had me type in a code on my old lg op v phone whenever I had 3g issues. Then everything worked fine....I got a new phone cause the old phones sd card reader broke.

should I call them?

Or is it something in the rom causing this? I really would like to have 3g on, and not be randomly disconnecting on me throughout the day.

When it does work, its way faster then stock root, but every now and then out of nowhere it disconnects. Any ideas?

Another question. When updating a rom when there is an update available, do you lose everything and have to start over? Or do you have to always back up in tb every time and then restore?

I can confirm this. The airplane icon does not show up when in airplane mode.

I've also had the 3G icon disappear on me even though I do have data connection (no slow downs whatsoever). Restarting the bar does not bring it back.. you have to reboot the phone.

I've tested this with and without a theme and get the same results.
 
OK..Another goofy question.

My stepdaughters OV had been working fine since I wiped, then rewiped everything know to mankind.

Now she calls me and tells me the phone won't charge. WTH?

I don't remember reading anything about ROM issues having a charging issue. Did I miss something or what? I'm so sick of this d**m phone I could scream.

Thanks for any/all help, suggestions, donated airline tickets, etc, etc, etc...

I'm also running 04012012. Couldn't get it to vibrate at all when a text message came in. No matter what setting it was on. Can't comment if it vibrate when I get a call cause no one calls me. At the advice of Ben I switched to go SMS, and the vibrate function works fine now when receiving messages.

Try re-flashing the same version that was on it before you updated. If it doesn't fix the problem it's a problem with the wall charger, USB cord, battery, or charging port on the phone.

I use go SMS and my vibrate function has been broken since 4/1 also. No matter what I do I cannot get it to vibrate for texts.
 
The icon issue is probably related to the options I added to the latest build to show/hide icons. I didn't include code for the airplane icon, I'll have to see about fixing that.

@129160: 3G is fine for me, and haven't heard anyone else complain about it. Is it a persistant issue, or does it change over time?

@theRealKTFO: Make sure if she's charging via a PC or laptop, she's using a USB port with enough power. On PCs, the front ports often don't have enough juice, the rear ports usually do. On laptops, it depends on the particular laptop if they have enough power going to their USB ports.

@lurkerinthewall: I didn't make any changes to sms vibrations, but I will look into it.
 
So the update to BACKside updater will automatically wipe the cache and davlik also? I was also wondering about Jerry's new recovery: Has anyone tested it on the new screen V?
