Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

From what I've read Jerry upgraded to the elite and will likely not be around the community anymore and we will not see any more updates. I'm grateful for the work he's put into this rom and wish him the best of luck and maybe we'll see him around in the future.

But when I have seen this I thought he was done with the V.

I didn't think he was the kind of guy to ditch everyone but I just saw that post and wondered.
I didn't think 100% just cause I read that he left, just thought he could have.

He would probably still get us monthly updates with CM7. I would hate it if there's no more updates, because that means no updates for the M and no updates for the C. :( that would be very sad and all of our phones would then be rendered outdated because other phones getting updates for CM7.

But I highly doubt he's leaving us, he would at least say goodbye first.

Give Jerry some thread luvins!

Not on tapatalk. I actually read this in another page not on af, not by Jerry, about him moving on which is why I mentioned I had read it. I hope I'm wrong especially since I'd love to see ics from him but developers don't get paid and if they don't have need for the rom that's usually when they move on. I'm thinking either the ov he had was damaged or possibly bricked since he's said he would not change unless that happened and if it did and he has no backup then he has no way to develop for us if he wanted to. All this is my hypothesis not set in stone just an idea.

There is still iho development so we are not completely left behind. Ics will soon leave cm7 behind anyhow. It's already very stable and most everything is working and I know bob has his own kernel he put out for testing and mentioned he had his own rom running his kernel. Once it hits beta I expect a flood of roms.

It doesn't even show on the phandroid app...

Sammy, wiping battery stats didn't help. Battery's still drainin' away. :(
This is my only issue with Backside, and I'm a little tempted to go back to Harmonia.... but BACKside is so cool!! I don't know what to do.

You still gotta let it decharge and recharge. My battery always drains away the first couple of days of a new ROM flashed...

Or maybe it's time to buy a new battery.

Oh. So this is normal, I hope, cuz I just reflashed yesterday.
And, what do you mean by "charge/discharge", exactly?

It's snake oil. Don't worry about charging and discharging. Just remember it takes about three days or so before you actually get accurate readings from the battery after a flash. If you're still having problems, search over at XDA for Better Battery Stats. That will help you figure out what is killing the battery. It might be an app that doesn't like being on the sd card.

Oh, trust me, it never gets past 0%.
And I have BetterBatteryStats, but I don't know what to do with it, it's all Greek to me. O_O

Jerry's done such an amazing job with BACKside, and I've gotten so much good use out of it, I wouldn't mind 'donating' a few bucks to him if it meant he kept producing an update every now and then.

Whose with me?

First off, i want to thank you, and all the othwr who contributed to this amazing ROM..

i been having this issue, whenever i set a different wallpaper, the wallpaper will stay, but when the phone reboots, for whatever reason,
, dead battery, time to make a current backup in recovery, and so on the wallpaper rwcerts back to stock wallpaper. Any ideass? Also the same with Better Keyboard, i will enable it as default keyboard, but when phone reboot i have to select it again. i would appreciate any guidence on this oh wise one.

I just wanted to say while still semi focused on the subject of Jerry's involvement with the OV; the dev has been here for a year with faithful, regular updates and has given us a very complete ROM and a great theme. If he is still involved, great, we will still see more CM goodies. If not, let's not give him a hard time and press him for info or a reason for discontinuing. I think the bottom line is a lot of devs like to leave unfinished work in favor of more top o'the line wares. He's left us with a seriously bitchin ROM (pardon my language) personally, I feel it's too early to tell and I don't usually post lengthy posts but I feel it necessary because he's done so much and deserves a bit of recognition. Thanks Jerry, cheers!

I personally have seen no indication (posts he has made himself) anywhere that he's discontinued work on BACKside. Until Jerry posts here in his own thread to say anything different than his past post about what he is currently doing (Android security issue), I'm not gonna sweat it and I don't think any of us should either. ;)

@Sammy -BBS will identify which individual app has been active the longest, and sort by wakelock status.

@goonsage - sounds like your keyboard and wallpapers are linked to sd. if so, thats why. The keyboard needs to be on internal memory, and if you're getting your wall papers from an app like zedge or wallbase the same thing applies.

I am not sweating anything. The last version is stable and there are good alternatives to choose from. But, I think Elvis has left the building.

If its not that, he may have to fix permissions:

Go to terminal emulator and type:
su
fix_permissions
reboot

If you get an error after fix permissions, press menu key>close window and type it all in again.

Okay, now I think the battery is just wonky. It wouldn't take a charge, and when it did, it went from 100% to 87% in about 30 seconds. Then I recharged it, took a bit for it to actually charge, and now at 96% it's unplugged and being used, nothing on but the radio to send texts/call. It's about 1% drop per 20 minutes.
Should I be concerned?

A 1% drop in 20 minutes is not bad, but going from 100 to 87 in 30 seconds is really bad.

+1 ^

Didn't you just get that phone? I've read posts where VM USA has sent out new batteries for people who just got their phones and the battery was borked. Id give them a call and check into that (but only if you recently got your phone).
