depends on which build u have, if you have the build from the 23rd then you will have top start from scratch. But if you have the build from last night (30th) and flash the newest build when he gets it uploaded u should be good.

I'm sure he'll update us when n what when he gets it ready.

i have completly flashed it and works perfect
the ZIPPED file i put on sd card for cm7 03302011.zip and google apps.zip that on sd card, can i delete those? they are like 90mb total..will it affect anything?

umm dunno on cm6 but on cm7 they got a 710Mhz setting thats been working great on mine.

yeah i been running cm7, love the rom, lolz wanted to try this cm6 for a while. but cm6 also runs a little smoother than cm7 but i like em both.

what idid was a wipe of everything to give it a fresh start, than i backup cm6 like i did cm7 and icarus. so when i get ready to load a rom i just go to cwm and flash whatever back i want no more wiping.

I used cwm 3 and I downloaded the cm6 zip n gapps zip n installed both of those.

In toks howto he said to format so lol, I'm gonna see if I have another sd card big enough to use. If not oh well, I just wanted to have a look see anyhow. I have it up n running n sync'd with google.

remember to format boot,system,cache, data, but i never did format my memory card, just put the 2 zip files on my sd and rebooted into recover and wipe data and all even delvic

cm7 is 2.3 and it can run on ascend, the cm6 is 2.2

yeah cm7 has better and more feature's and like them themes also.

I have a question. Since MMS is not working yet can you still receive longer text messages? You know how sometimes as you are typing a text message and after so many charectors it says converting to MMS. Will we still be able to send and receive these longer text messages?

An update on the current situation. As I stated in my post above, I'm working on USB and WIFI hotspot.

I've managed to get the menus enabled, but the functions don't work. I've been reading that I would need to enable this support in the driver, but I don't have the source for that. I'm trying another build that kind of hacks into place and hopefully it'll work. I'm not too concerned about USB tethering.

Good news is that the overall performance seems to be up. I was able to play Angry Birds (with the background off) and it was smooth.

The electron beam animation won't work. I thought maybe it would render the animation without HW support, but it would seem it doesn't. The Ascend is probably one of the only phones that DOESN'T have a dedicated GPU. Hell, even the original MT3G does. A crappy one is better than nothing at all.

I have the Optimus V and while the Ascend does run Gingerbread fairly well, it's really becoming apparent that 2.3 was never meant to be on the phone. Most of my goals for the Ascend have been met. I wanted to get a mostly functional port of 2.3 on the Ascend and I think I have.
