The electron beam animation won't work. I thought maybe it would render the animation without HW support, but it would seem it doesn't. The Ascend is probably one of the only phones that DOESN'T have a dedicated GPU. Hell, even the original MT3G does. A crappy one is better than nothing at all.

I have the Optimus V and while the Ascend does run Gingerbread fairly well, it's really becoming apparent that 2.3 was never meant to be on the phone. Most of my goals for the Ascend have been met. I wanted to get a mostly functional port of 2.3 on the Ascend and I think I have.

for the past week.... eclair, froyo+, icarus and cm6/7 all do it to me. i think it's a market issue.

i hit retry a couple times and then cancel and it tends to do whatever i told it to anyway. just got to tap the app your getting again and make sure it started.

+1 on 2.1, cm6 2.2, and cm7 2.3.
 
A Friend of Mine Asked my A Question about CM7 and I dont know if it will work or not so im posting it on here. For you Guys the Experts

If I go back to Stock and use APN Backup & Restore then flash to CM7 would that help with the MMS?

Very true, but I think these guys are just tryin to warn you...its not as simple as running an app on your phone and magic does all the work..

I feel for ya tho, as we are truly all "noobs" at one point..

That being said heres my pro tip hahaa...

Read, read read read read...learn what a ROM is, learn what CWM is, learn what Rooting means...

Youll gain much more if you read and learn it yourself. Good luck!

Thank You for everything you have done so far I finally like using my ascend. One thing please don't give up on a mms fix, that would really make this the best rom for the ascend not that its not already but mms would definitely make it complete....
 
If I can't hook up my phone to my computer via USB to transfer data etc. then I'll never try this mod.

Sorry to hear you are giving up on that.

Am I the only person left who uses a wired router and has no Wi-Fi access where I live? LOL

USB Data transfer does work..I think he was referring to USB Tethering for internet access on a PC through your phones web service.

If i were you id jump on Craigslist or just go to walmart and get a wireless router man lol..its totally worth the 50 or so bucks and it makes your life so much easier.
 
Oh I was under the impression that USB didn't work AT ALL

And no I don't want wireless. It's slow. Plus I have a desktop that doesn't have wireless built in and I just don't need it.
