Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

My friend has this phone for MetroPCS, but after rooting and installing CM7, the headset jack isn't functioning properly:

While on a call, she can't hear anything on the other end, but the person can hear her just fine.

Has anyone had this issue or know of a fix?
This is a known issue with cm7 on the Ascend. The microphone on a wired headset won't work. Bluetooth headsets work fine. No fix for this AFAIK. I think this problem is hard for the devs to fix due to Huawei never releasing the full source code.

thank u but when i reboot after download of cm7.1-rc1 it does not have the metro app store or gmail nd some other stuff so what do i do to keep that stuff

oh my bad, let me clear my self.
When you flash a ROM such as CM7 RC1, then all the metro stock apps are now deleted.. In my opinion you do not need those things since all those apps are already installed into your device but without the name, and it can even be a non-app, (like a setting).
to get gmail and all the google apps back, you have to flash the gapps ZIP given to you in this thread ->
CM7-Ascend - Prepaid Android
Download it and install it like you installed the CM7 RC1 zip. It will have a setup (wizard setup to be specific) in the beginning when you first reboot the phone. after you placed your email and password in the first option of "sign in" it will have a pop-up screen that has two options. OK and Later(or something like that) click ok. and it will take you to a black screen that is scrollable. scroll up and down, checking the google apps you would like to have installed. and there you go. that is how you get gmail and ect. apps back.

I have a short story/questions that makes me wonder...

So last night, I made the mistake of going to reflash and accidently formatting my SD card with my .zips on it. I could not get it to boot into recovery, all I would get is a weird purple/pink screen. Anyone have this issue? Anyone have an issue with the phone not turning on after removing the battery? I cannot power off my phone without having to remove the battery and trying to force it to boot up, sometimes having to plug it in. Weird...

Anyways, I FINALLY got it to boot into recovery, and I reflashed PG's newest ROM, booted, installed the newest 3.2.5 Gapps, all worked fine. This is actually the fastest my phone has ever been. Running ADW like a dream, which usually I have to uninstall it, because it lags so bad. I don't have it going past 600mhz in the performance section, and it runs way faster than 691. Is this probably due to it being a lazy ascend? Is forcing it to OC actually slowing the phone down?

Well thats my story/questions. If anyone has any feedback, awesome

Me > GrooVe IP
So the last 3 times I unistalled and reinstalled the app, when I call someone, it rings twice, shuts down, then restarts. Running CM7, Voice, Voice plus. Any ideas?

GrooVe IP > Me
We've had reports that some versions of CM7 on some devices don't work with the app. There seems to be some api we call that isn't implemented or is implemented differently that causes the app to crash.

I'm running PG's latest and greatest, but I depend on this app when I'm at home.
Suck.

Okay I've been running 0728 since it came out. Installed everything correctly but my phone is lagging something serious. Plus I still have no mms (Metroff just doesn't seem to work for me). My data connection goes in and out at will... I've tried clearing the cache through recovery... no help. I've tried rebuilding the dalvik but gets stuck in a bootloop so I have to restore from a backup. At one point i got so frustrated that I tried to restore my Icarus backup which was the last time everything worked for me (but that didn't go too well, LOL)

I just don't know what to do... Once you go CM7 its hard to imagine using anything else but in the words of Keith Sweat... "Something, something....Something something just ain't right...."

I don't know if its my settings, my apps, or just my phone itself.

Anyway, what I'd like to know is if someone who has everything working can do me a favor...
Is it possible for you to upload a nandroid backup of your working phone (minus your personal info) so I can download that and see if maybe it's just my phone itself that's not working right. I saw someone do that in another post and would like to give it a shot if anyone is willing....

okay i was watching this youtube video on how to install the 2.3.5 cm7 into the android huaweii ascend so i do everything right like i rooted my phone then i went to the rom manager and went to the ClockworkMod Recovery heres where i get messed up im so busy doin what he does which is wiping all the cache partition and wipe all data/factory reset but i havent downloaded in the 2.3.5 cm7 into card! now it wont let me go back to my android regualr screen everytime i try to reboot it fails now im stuck! please help!!!

try to find the cm7 download file on the internet on your computer and put the file on your sd, then try to boot off of that. I'm on cm7 now, as I have been for a few months now, so I haven't messed around in recovery in a while, I'm a little rusty with that... hope it helps

the problem what you are having probably coming from your sd card if its not a class 4 or higher and or if its not partition right, cause with cm7 the dalvic and apps are moved to sd card automatic after you install a rom, option one would be open TE and type "su" without quotes than type "a2sd nocache" without quotes and the phone will move the dalvik back to phone and the phone will reboot, after that check and see if things speed up, also in setting/CyanogenMod setting, tap performance and you can change your OC settings to what you want like 691 or 710 which ever your phone can handle, than tap set on boot, reboot the phone a couple times to let everything settle and all should be good.;)

why would you need to watch a youtube video when we have everything you need here http://androidforums.com/ascend-all-things-root/320265-ultimate-ascend-customization-guide.html :) but what you will need is a card reader to load the files on the sd card or you can just revert back to stock.

How did you finally get it to boot into recovery? Some people who get that pink screen haven't been able to get past it. You might be able to help some other people with your info.

is there a way to turn back on the backlight for the for buttons on the bottom of the phone I have noticed after installing CM7 that the light no longer works I need to no if there is a switch in setting to turn this back on.

I'm assuming you are using bobz release. Its a known bug and no fix that I'm aware of..

I think this is a bug I created in my last build. I plan on fixing this in the next build or releasing a fix.zip that can be flashed to fix the issue.

Or at least fix the notification lights, I've been told the button lights havent worked in awhile lol

Actually, I noticed they were working for me before I flashed a different ROM the other day. Couldn't say why. I didn't notice it when they weren't working, but I noticed when they were.

Haha I havent noticed til now mine dont work.

Thanks for the advice nuttmeg. In these last few weeks of constantly flashing almost every build I could imagine I have never once stopped to verify what class my sd card was even though I've seen out mentioned numerous times. *slapping myself* its an 8 gb Sandisk. I notice a 4 with a circle aroun Maybe I'll just go buy a new one and get the highest class I can find. But until then, I tried to move the dalvik to internal but I get an error saying not enough space. According to TIBU I have 100 mb free internal. So now I'm down to playing with the over clock settings. I'll give 691 a shot. .

Regarding the pink screen, is this a known bug in our Ascends? I get it often, and 5% of the time I can boot into recovery. It takes forever and a day to get my phone to boot, if it is shut off or battery is pulled. I plug in the power cord, get the huawei screen, unplug the battery. Keep trying to boot into recovery and pulling the battery until the phone boots. But like I said, 5% of the time, I can get into recovery via the buttons. Kind of frustrating when people ask you to turn your phones off completely!

btw, this only seems like it's started since I flashed CM7 (All ROMS)

This makes 3 cases I've heard of with this purple screen and it makes me think its with the quality of the screens Huawei used.

First case I heard of dude never could get past it and exchanged his ascend for another phone.

And I never turn my phone off, I silence it when need be but never turn it off for anyone lol.

just think of it as a battery saver app thats built inside the rom, less lights more battery. ;)

LMAO

BTW Tanks for the advice about moving dalvic cache back to phone. Seemed to help speed things up for me.

But then me being stupid I decided to see if the SD card said, on it, what class it was. Pulled it out without un-mounting it and screwed it up. Now all my backed up ROMs are gone. And I knew better cause Ive done that before lol.

I have the same SD. 8GB Sandisk class 4 got it for 20 bucks at Walmart and Im oc'd at 710max 320 min. Only time I noticed lag was at first. Most of it went away after everything settled and I locked home in memory and upgraded to ADW EX.

I got a light blue screen after I flashed the 748mhz kernel, I flashed it the phone rebooted and made it past all the Huawei and CM screens fine, but when my homescreen loaded the whole screen was a lite blue and you could just barely see the desktop and icons and things, I just pulled the battery because it was the quickest way to get the phone to turn off and just reflashed CM7 and the gapps and everything was fine.

Yeah, I'm going to try to NOT turn the phone off again. One of these days I'm afraid it's just not going to boot up, and I've put in too much time flashing this thing 100x to get it the way I want :)

By the way, has anyone installed ADW EX on their phones? I now LOVE adw on this thing, but I don't know if all the other bells and whistles that come with EX would slow this thing down. I really like the 4D app drawer though!

NM I tried it...And it's awesome
