the devs and everyone on here rock so does anyone think the ascend will get ice cream sandwich i heard every droid will recieve it but ascend always gets left out lol what do you think?

From what I have heard/read, ICS is supposed to be compatible with all android devices. So even if we don't get an official update (which I highly doubt we will, especially for those of us on Cricket), I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually get an ICS Rom. Which would be awesome. :)

It's the yet-to-be-released version of ANDROID,following in the tradition of earlier versions having code-names derived from dessert names.

1.5 CUPCAKE
1.6 DONUT
2.0-2.1 ECLAIR
2.2 FROYO (FROZEN YOGURT)
2.3 GINGERBREAD
3.0 HONEYCOMB (Tablet O/S)

just my apps i downloaded and i keep trying but it doesnt work(through CWM) and not yet and prob will

2) Try out the app STARTUP AUDITOR to help out w/boot times.The decrease in boot time will be marginal at best,but,this app will keep some user apps from coming online unprompted.
Also,considering you have a 'lazy' ASCEND,boot times aren't gonna be lightning quick.Neither are average or above average ASCENDS either.
The CPU in this phone is overtaxed as it is,so,boot times aren't gonna be anything like,say,a DROID X,EVO 3D,G2X,etc.....

Best thing you can do after installing CM7 is getting a CLASS 6 or better SDcard.
I've noticed a dramatic performance increase since getting a CLASS 10 for my phone.

I'm liking PlayfulGod's latest CM7 build. But if you're wondering if CM7 is better than CM6, that I can't tell you, I've never given CM6 a go. I know some folks prefer it, but PG has really worked CM7 over to the point that it's rather sweet, and BobZ's builds feel just as stable.
 
Hey PG, how did you get into developing ROMS? What background did you have before doing this? I'd like to try my hand at dev-ing, but I really don't have much a programming background. I try using Google inventor, and there isn't much for tutorials.

basically, about 10yrs of PC repair/building, and generally just tinkering around with everything I could get my hands on lol. I modded RARZ's back in their day, mess with FreeBSD/nix on n off for 10yrs.

I dont consider myself a dev, but I do learn quick when I mess with stuff. ;)

Did you receive enough donations to get the Ascend 2 yet? I haven't been lurking at PPA for a while.

Had one donated to me so I paid a few small bills n bought a Optimus C for cheap. Unfortunately the A2 that was donated seems to be truely bricked. I have tried every known fix for these things to no avail. All it will do is the factory restore/update and boot the the huawei screen regardless of what I do to it. DP said last thing he did to it was the factory restore/update and thats when it bricked on him. I was sure it was something I could fix, but doesnt seem to be fixable. :(

So I am still in need of a working A2 :(
 
One a different note, I'll be grabbing a high-end phone very soon, and so this one will be unused. If you want to have someone test builds on the laziest of Ascends, PG, I'll be daring you to brick this one.

How do you like that Optimus C? My brother and my buddy bought the Optimus V through Virgin Mobile. I rooted/flashed Cyanogenmod 7 on them, and they run super fast, way faster than our Ascends. Is the C comparable to the V?

I just got it to dev with, but yea its a hell of alot faster than the ascend is hands down lol.

Kewl thing is this one still has service lol


And yea basically the same phone, the V, C, M, and S. ;)

Yeah I figured they were similar. Well sweet, I know what I'm buying when the price drops. Until then, I'm running this Ascend into the ground like a car from the 80s. :)
 
I just dropped in to see whats new, just want to say my phone is still running great. Thanks to all involved. I love this forum and will be looking foward to latest build. :cool:
 
I could have swore I saw someone mention this before, but I can't find the post.
I'm getting an error message pretty regularly now when going to home that says "Process system is not responding." Am I just bogged down, could it be a launcher error, or have others come across this with the new build?

I got that probably every other day or every 2-3 days while on 7.2 I could never figure it out. I would just hit ok and and it'd go away until the next time it decided to pop up.
 
Can someone help me? My Google account won't sync? It says unable to open connection to server. I got my wifi on

Usually immediately following a re-boot.I believe it happens on my phone when I try to use the phone too soon after re-boot.I've found it doesn't pop-up if I give the phone a couple minutes to let everything settle in before using it.
