Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

Yes sorry thought I mentioned that. I did but it could not find a driver. Even had it search the internet and no go. :(

Goal is to get CM7 on the phone. Not sure if I need CWM 2 or CWM 3 first but want to install that. I do need the drivers. Link above says METRO DRIVERS. I have Cricket. Are there Cricket Drivers??
 
Ok so I have driver installed, followed these instructions, and when I boot up using volume rocker up method, this message appears:

Firmware update
Step 1/2

Unpacking

Update failed

And I have blinking lights at bottom. How to fix?

You probably hit the wrong button just take the battery out and try again.

Volume up
Send button
Tap power button
make sure to keep volume up and send button pressed until you get into cwm.
 
Let me try to explain this again. I have a rooted Ascend that works fine with CM 40511 nightly. When I try to flash the CM7 041611 it all works good until the phone has to reboot or is turned off. Then it gets stuck in boot up screen. Yesterday when I tried to flash it again, I rebooted immediately before loading in the Titanium back up and it rebooted as expected. Today something caused the phone to reboot and it is stuck again. Does anyone know if there are apps that cause CM7 041611 to become unstable and not reboot? I really want to have the mms working so I would like to figure this out. Thanks

the drivers will work for both carriers...usb drivers.

did you wipe everything before installing the updated build, not including the sdcard, might want to reflash it again wiping boot,system,cache,data under mounts and storage.

Did all of that..don't want to add each app one at a time to see what the conflict might be...might not have a choice
 
I have a question and I'm sorry if it's been asked before, I'm trying to find out why my phone has call and text service yet my 3g browser does not work.? I checked the apn settings and I put in my number, is there anywhere else I need to check? Thank you.
 
Confirming I now have Cricket Ascend running on CM7. Great work to all involved and everyone who posted/replied. Also overclocked to 710 Mhz, nice to have a faster, slicker phone!

Question: My Alarm clock used to let me pick MP3's I downloaded, now just the stock files. Any way to achieve this?

I'm enjoying CM7 but I'm having a few issues.

1. Google launched their Google Docs app yesterday I believe. It says at the online Android Market that it is compatible with Android 2.1 & up:

However when I try to install on my Ascend it says its not compatible with my device. But the Ascend came with 2.1 and CM7 is a gingerbread port, then what version of Android does Google/Market detect CM7 as?

Another app, the Xfinity TV App is "Not compatible with my device" this app used to be on the Market on stock 2.1.

Also is the stock browser the GingerBread browser? I can use Instant Previews Beta which is only for Android 2.2 and up. I have the user agent set to Android.

Last thing: If the browser is a gingerbread Browser will it play flash if I get the flash Apk?

am i crazy or is there not a setting in teh stock launcher to adjust the speed the app drawer opens and how fast you can fling from screen to screen or add another screen? i tried going into everything i could find and no dice. maybe i was just not looking hard enough because i could not find the built in task manager either lol

The key is "device" not "version of Android".

It may be the software was released and is not compatible specifically with the Ascend which has nothing to do with the Android OS version.

Yes however the Xfinity app was compatible with my 'Device' when I was on stock.
