Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

I'm currently running 0509 clocked @ 748 w/no problems what so ever. camera/cam works very well... do i need to switch to 0514? or am i okay with 0509?

It runs well until I run an app. Upon closing an app, the phone is laggy and almost unresponsive for a minute or two after which it will regain it's crispness.
Might be just a first time load-unload memory issue.
Camera works well, so does the camcorder, although it is pretty slow and I couldn't save a video.
For what it's worth, Barcode Scanner https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.zxing.client.android kills the camera, as I reported on a previous build (Camera Error) Cannot connect to camera.
and only a reboot will bring it back.

Other than that, I'm fairly satisfied and appreciate the continued efforts to make CM7 hiccup free.

I'm seeing some of that same lag as you.I'm overclocked@710. I've slowed down the cpu and still have that issue for about 30 seconds to a minute and then the speed picks back up.
 
Any one else having contact sorting issues in the 05142011 build?

I changed the settings to display contacts by first name instead of last name. It seems the settings don't do anything. It's still displayed by last name.
 
ok so im new here first time posting so be gentle with me if this question has already been asked.... i downloaded the cm7 mod for my ascend and flashed it and so far works great! what i was wondering is if i have to set tge APN and all that good stuff? cuz when i got to my APN settings all it says is add APN if you guys could help that would b great also another question i have is by flashing it will it possibly mess with my service like metro stop my service like they do when u flash other carriers phones to there service lol i know this is alot and if i sound stupid just let me know im still new to this whole android thing but im always trying to make my phone better lol
 
all these laggy things with lastest build 0509 is flawless for me. i think there was a problem with usb mounting plus dont really copy things to my laptop but songs and i have a card reader

You need to flash MetroOff, the link in on the wiki and there is a link 6 comments above yours. No it will not mess with your service. Metro has no idea what you do with your phone.
 
Finally got around to flashing latest build(05142011). I have yet to notice any of the earlier stated lag. Even tried angry birds and it works great.(don't usually play, just a test). Another great build isaac, really like the new boot splash. Thanks again.
 
I have never experienced the ringing on any roms, so i have no idea about that. If your only computer access is public you may want to invest in a card reader. They are cheap and can be found at wal-mart.
 
only reason to install drivers is, if your computer doesnt recognize your phone after putting it in usb mode...

It's not that my only computer access is public it's just that I (and I'm sure others) would like to be able to access files on storage in public places like libraries, schools, etc.

You wouldn't have that problem with stock and i believe icarus because it has the drivers built into the rom. They have been removed from CM7 to save space. So using public computers my be a problem on this rom. It is one of those give and take type situations.

It worked fine on CM6, does CM6 have the drivers built in too?
 
On stock and Icarus the autorun.iso has the usb n various other drivers needed. On CM6/7 the iso image has nothing but a dummy image and neither is setup to run the iso as a cd like stock/icarus is. I messed around with this last week to try and get it to work with no luck, something isnt coded for it to work. Also the original iso is over 11MB which is a big hit to internal RAM/storage.

You also have to keep in mind CM isnt developed for the Ascend but higher end phones. We are just fortunate enough isaac ported CM6/7 over for us to use. SO we all need to keep that in mind when complaining about stuff that doesnt work and show some appreciation for all that does work on both. Same goes for pip for maintaining CM6 and continue improving it as isaac works on CM7 now.

the kernel is the heart of any operating system. The kernel in question allows overclocking over 710Mhz to 729Mhz or 748Mhz. Works on some ascend and not others so only use it at your own risk.
