yea CM7 is rooted, TiBU just being tarded. But you dont need it for backups no how, you already have a backup program installed called CWM/Rom manager.
 
Great work, as usual, Isaac. This is truly the fastest build to date. Only thing is my phone doesn't seem to like running at 710Mhz. It reboots a lot but 691Mhz is plenty fast for me.
 
thanks for the replies. I do have one more question. When I plug my phone into my pc now it reads it as a cd rom drive and not a usb drive. I have made sure to enable it on my phone but nothing. Thanks.
 
Sooo , yesterday i updated my phone and when it rebooted i did all the steps right.. it would go to the lockscreen and freeze but it will go back to the blue loading screen with the android on the skateboard and it did it for a hour straight what should i do? i already stocked back to 2.1 .

Re wipe and reflash...experiment with the overclock settings before selecting "set on boot"...almost sounds like you had it OCed too high.
You also may want to re download all the zips just in case you had a corrupt download. Good luck.

i have the two zips it tells me to download , and overclock setting how do i get to that?

Just delete the zips you have now and re-download (preferably from a computer) the same ones.

And if you don't know where to overclock the phone you couldn't have hurt it on the first go so just nvm that.

Also, make sure you wipe everything. Follow the guide by tokenpoke and you can't go wrong.

best if you update to the latest build, alot of tweaks and stuff have been applied to this update.
 
Hey guys, quick question.

Love the new Update for CM7 (thanks to all who have worked on it), I just installed and wiped Icarus. Question being though; does anyone else notice when closing a larger app, like the Market, you get some quirks, and sometimes your Widgets seem to take a long time to be redrawn? I am trying different launchers, so wondering if they are the issue. Anyone have any advice or noticing this too?
 
So im trying to download the 05212011 update but I can only download 250kb the file is 64mb I have astro downloaded but idk why I cant get the file. I dont have internet but I installed PDAnet to get internet but I only get up to 70% and it fails anyone have Ideas?
 
Questions:

do i have to clear all the data in cwm to flash this update then reinstall all of my apps again?

does mms work for this update or would i need another metro off zip?

try downloading it from a PC then put it on your sdcard.

yes, yes, and yes, but you can try just restoring the data.img from a CWM backup. but if you are on another platform (2.1, 2.2) your apps may FC and/or not work properly.

its a rare issue, I have flash every build (numerous times) since CM7-Ascend has came out and not had that issue since mms has been fixed. If you are on Metro you have to flash MetrOFF v1.3. If you are on cricket you have to do nothing.

use titu from market, free version will work also and do a batch backup and you can restore them once your finish installing cm7 new build.

same here i guess we got lucky to get the hard working ascend, i couldnt tell you how many times i have flash the same rom plus other

Whats your CPU speed set to? Also, which launcher are you seeing the lag from? I went thru all the major launchers before I just settled for the stock one. For me it runs smoother and is more responsive than all the others. I'm not saying they're (Go Launcher, LP, ADW) not any good, however.

You may be better off going to McDonalds or Starbucks and using the wifi there...or borrow a PC for about 5 minutes..

Yes, do a complete wipe before installing the new build.

Yes, you still need to use MetrOFF 1.3 but forget about setting the APNs as the APN menu is now blank (something from CM, not isaac). Just make sure you've booted into CM7 once, then reboot and flash MetrOFF and you're done.
 
I have it set to the 691 to 320 min (OnDemand). I also noticed I don't have this issue as much or at all with the stock launcher. I loved Launcher Pro on Icarus because I could customize. Can I customize the default Gingerbread dock to add more apps? Can't figure this one out.

Not that I know of...

I got used to it..but I only use one screen and no widgets these days haha. I know I'm going to flash again so I just said forget it lol.

2 new GPU governors (Smart@$$ and Interactive):
  • Smart@$$ - When the phone is sleeping, it'll cap the max CPU speed to while sleeping to 352 MHz. This helps in increasing battery life.
  • Interactive - More performance oriented. This one will ramp up smoother than ondemand. Gives more CPU to apps needing the extra power.
mines is current set to the first one, and it works like a charm!!!:)
 
Yes - After just using the stock launcher, I can tell performance is much better than Launcher pro and Go launcher. Both launchers are great, but don't seem to run as smoothly. I'd rather have smooth usage than customization.
