thats weird, what was the last thing you install before this happen, try uninstalling anything you put on there before the problem started, might have to reflash.

Well, I FINALLY got CM7 but lost a bit of my buzz when I realized Swype was gone. I literally can't stand tapping in things manually, considering my thumbs are quite large and always choose the wrong letters.

So, I've been looking up alternate ways to install Swype, and this is what happened:

-Installing the Beta from the official Swype website: Made my account, logged in, went to download the Beta and it gave me a parsing error every time.

- Installing the .zip file of Swype: I copied the Swype .zip file to my SD card, booted my phone into CWM and tried to install the thing from there. Trouble is, the operation would just abort.

- Installing a user-made file: Someone over at XDA Developers made a way to install Swype without all of the extraneous BS. Turns out, this method is extraneous BS. I downloaded his .zip file, got Root Explorer, found that "data/local/" file, copied it into that, pressed "execute," and all I got for my trouble was "not a tty" on a black screen.

There was a source code attached that I then ran in Terminal Emulator:

After granting SU permissions, I tapped in his code:
adb push swype-installer.sh /data/local/

All it said was "adb: not found."

So after all of these attempts, I'm going to assume it's impossible to get Swype on a CM7 modded device. That being said, does anyone know of an alternative way to do this, or of any other keyboard programs in the same vein as Swype I could install?

ummmm i installed the swype beta through the website a while ago and it works for me fine...i do have to reselect the input method from time to time though. I cant remember how i actually installed it any more but i did get it working.....i know i had to verify something through my email address
 
I absolutely love CM7.

However, since I installed it on my phone, I have noticed that I've been getting a lot more "Web page not available" and "no network found" error messages. I've found that it happens at least 7 out of 10 times that I try to browse the web or the Android Market. It's incredibly annoying.

The WiFi strength meter will jump from gray to green quite often, and the same thing applies for the network strength bars. Now, I live less than one-tenth of a mile from a MetroPCS tower, so I find this very odd.

Also, I never seem to drop calls or have trouble sending text messages.

Does anyone know of a fix for this?
 
I have successfully installed CM7. Everything is working fine, but I do have one minor quirk. When I press the end/home key from within an app, this would usually take me back to the home screen. Now when I press this key, it puts my screen to sleep as if i tapped the power key. How do I get it back to sending me to the home screen? I have LauncherPro working and set to do this but it's not doing it.

go into spare parts, then hit end button behavior, then click what you want it to do. :)

Here's my new build CM7-Acsend-BobZ-1-signed.zip
I'm posting it here because it is the same ROM(nothing fixed) with just an updated CM7.
Two cool new features that I like for CM7 are:
1) In Display settings: There is Accelerometer Rotation of 0, 90, 180, and 270 which controls your screen rotion
2) Under Interface>Status Bar Tweaks: There is Status bar brightness control toggle which allows you to adjust the brightness of you screen by sliding your finger across the statusbar

Note: There is a new GApps for CM7...grab it here:http://goo-inside.me/gapps//gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip

Please don't thank me, instead donate to Isaac for all the great work he has done.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the cool new ringtone I added: "Somebody's Out There" by one of my favorite bands: "Triumph"

What is new in the GAPPS package?
 
Have you installed the METROFF package & have you tried toggling 'AIRPLANE MODE' on & off to see if that might help get the data to connect properly?
 
I have my CM7 pretty tweaked at this point, still playing around with it. My camera will not load. Any ideas?

camera apps will not work with cm7, uninstall any apps you have for camera and reboot the phone and your camera will work again.

Gapps(Google Apps) contain the proprietary Google applications that come pre-installed with most android devices. Due to licensing restrictions, these apps cannot come pre-installed with CyanogenMod(CM7) and must be installed separately.
The new gapps contains an updated list of the google produces and also there was a problem with the older version where it would sometimes make account info disappear. You can still use the old gapps, but you will be downloading old versions of say Google Maps and an update will show up right away.
 
I have the same issue. I just updated from cm7 5/14 to 5/21 and I did not have this problem with the last version. Are you running 5/21/2011 also?
 
I have been lurking this site for a while now...Alot of you guys are very helpful but I have a problem that iI dont understand I would like to know if this is a known problem or if i have to tweak my settings but I have just put cm7 on 2 phones and on both phones i have the same issues my data fades in and out the only way to get my data working is by rebooting or switching airplane mode off and on. This could potentially be a deal breaker for my wife.... one other concern is that my reception is actually worse than what it was before i put on cm7. thanks in advance for any and all the help.

I have the same problem on both of my ascends data is in and out i need to switch back and forth from airplane mode gettin annoyed with it.
