Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

Looks to be that way. I'm pretty satisfied with my Optimus V, but I've got my eye on the new Motorola Triumph. It's a fairly high-end phone with really nice features.

Here's hoping that it doesn't have a locked bootloader. That would really ruin the party.

Huawei has some nice new phones coming, but personally, I'd steer clear of them. When I got my OV, the source code was released literally a week later. It contained the kernel and ROM source. Since the phone was fairly standard, it only took a short time after for the community to root it and throw a custom ROM on there. I don't get Huawei. They still have yet to release the original ROM source code. They haven't released the .32 kernel and their website and support page is heinous.

Hey Isaac i agree with you, Huawie seems nice but they screwed us over, to be honest i'm second guessing on whether or not i will be getting the Huawei Ascend X i heard nice things about it but they just barely gave us 2.2 but nothing more after how many months of waiting who knows when they'll release the update for the X... And they promise to release a 2.3 update for the Ascend X but still what made me feel like an idiot for getting the Ascend was the fact that they built our Ascends with different parts... Sadly my ascend is a Lazy one so i cant experience CM7 nor CM6 :( but the Motorola Triumph seems nice i saw that Virgin Mobile Has it and Metro is getting a Motorola phone that has MotoBlur (pic at the bottom:credit to AndroidGuys) but it has 600Mhz Processor and a 3-Megapixel Camera and it will have Android 2.1 so yea I'm just waiting to see what to get next hopefully something better comes out, and yea a locked bootloader would really suck... Well i do appreciate all the work you've done for the ascend and i was hoping to use your latest Rom but for now I'll keep Icarus I'll tweak on my phone on a day where I'm well rested haha your smart bro i hope to see more of your work very soon my friend

there is no texting bug in CM7

The Motorola Triumph and the Huawei Ascend x/ideos x6 look almost exactly the same and have the exact same specs except the Triumph is cdma of course. If the Triumph isn't a direct rebranding of the x6, I'm almost positive Huawei made it for them. At least Moto isn't putting the crappy MotoBlur on it (they are both vanilla android-yay). The biggest differences are the Ascend x/x6 is on a MUCH faster gsm network, but the Triumph will probably have greater dev support due to being on Virgin. I would love to have either one, and most likely one of them will be my next phone. Finally some nice phones without contacts!

Well I just upgraded from Icarus to CM7 and was wordering wat would be some good settings or apps to optimize the performance of my phone while not killing my battery.

I have my CM7 Set to SmartAss and 710 turn off GPS when ur not using it and also the Wifi and Dont use Live Wallpapers lol

So, I think upgrading to 2.2 or 2.3 would be a real bonus for me. I really depend on this phone for a lot of things (including using it as a hotspot maker for my iPod, etc) and ive been wanting to get an upgrade. Anyone know any good updates? Ive found 2.2 froyo and 2.3 gingerbread but i want to know if there is any better otions. Also anyone know how to upgrade to 2.2 froyo or 2.3 gingerbread? anything would be a help... I have the cricket huawei ascend rooted with Z4Root.

Go to the "all things root" section at the top of the page and read the "ultimate ascend customization guide". I would advise against installing any other ROMs that you find on the net or youtube. Just stick to the ones in the guide and save yourself a lot of headaches. (and save Nuttmeg the trouble of getting your phone running again lol)

Hello again,

Well, I FINALLY got CM7 but lost a bit of my buzz when I realized Swype was gone. I literally can't stand tapping in things manually, considering my thumbs are quite large and always choose the wrong letters.

So, I've been looking up alternate ways to install Swype, and this is what happened:

-Installing the Beta from the official Swype website: Made my account, logged in, went to download the Beta and it gave me a parsing error every time.

- Installing the .zip file of Swype: I copied the Swype .zip file to my SD card, booted my phone into CWM and tried to install the thing from there. Trouble is, the operation would just abort.

- Installing a user-made file: Someone over at XDA Developers made a way to install Swype without all of the extraneous BS. Turns out, this method is extraneous BS. I downloaded his .zip file, got Root Explorer, found that "data/local/" file, copied it into that, pressed "execute," and all I got for my trouble was "not a tty" on a black screen.

There was a source code attached that I then ran in Terminal Emulator:

After granting SU permissions, I tapped in his code:
adb push swype-installer.sh /data/local/

All it said was "adb: not found."

So after all of these attempts, I'm going to assume it's impossible to get Swype on a CM7 modded device. That being said, does anyone know of an alternative way to do this, or of any other keyboard programs in the same vein as Swype I could install?

Thanks.

i have a cricket huawei ascend and i have the cm7 latest update, i tried to overclock my ascend to 710 mhz max... but it constantly froze up and rebooted on me i barely got a chance to change it back cuz it would shut off so quickly, is there anybody that know how to set it up to the point of the 710 mhz will not do that to our phones or at least tell me the settings, i need to make it work.
