Root ROOTING For Dummies Guide.....the Gingerbread Edition

This software is a developer preview. We still haven't made it perfectly easy to use for everyone, but we want power users and developers to be able to get started. If you're not a developer, feel free to try it out anyway; but you'll have to be patient with us while we iron out the wrinkles.

All devices included in this release have been pretested. Please note, however, that bugs could still be present! If you're willing to accept the risks anyway, download the binary for your OS below, and generate a beta key through the application form that appears. In case we need to make changes to the tool, every phone has a unique beta key, so in this developer preview, you'll have to get a key for each phone you wish to unlock.

If you are on your phone in recovery, select: mounts and storage, then select: mount USB storage.
If your phone is booted, plug the phone into your puter, then select mount as disk drive when the POP up screen appears on your phone. You phone should appear on your pc as drive E.
 
And for the unique beta key i know that it is used for something dealing if the phone gets bricked they can stop it or whatever. But is it related to the bootloader unlock from htcdev or anything like that? Or just a beta key for "We introduced the beta key mechanism so that if problems/bricks occur we can stop generating beta keys to prevent more people being affected. "?

no this just a key that the devs will use to pinpoint any issue. it has nothing to do with htc.
 
I got as far as the part of flashing the SU file. Now my phone is stuck on reboot mode, shows the 4G screen, then Sprint and reboots.

Please help!
 
My phone is at 2.3.3 but at 2.15.00.05.02 should i update it to latest HTC it say there an update for it or will it work at this ?
 
Holy smoke bat man.. Your the poop ocean... Going to try tomorrow.. Wooooo hooooo....I has sucked not being rooted.... Never know what you had til its gone
