it is something that is in the rom. it is like a fingerprint to let you know that this is virus's rom and not somebody else's. here read this:What is the MD5 hash?

Now if I follow the directions it says flashing a snergy ROM which I dont have what should I do in that case? Also will all my apps be gone from my phone? Thanks guys. I too want to get the 3D ROM on my phone but first I need some help to get this card partitioned!!

just skip the synergy part. flash the rom of your choice.

Can I just try partitioning it now and flash something on it later? Also once its partitioned which folder do I copy back all my other sd cards info too?

Once its partitioned, I don't think you will have access to the sd-ext partition from a disk drive stand point. When you plug in your phone and select disk drive, it will register as a flash drive on your pc so you can just copy over the files you want.

By partitioning, you take the limited 512mb of memory the Evo has and basically limit it by the size of the partition. Apps will be stored on the sd-ext partition and the phone will access them through symlinks stored in the phones physical memory just like the app was stored in the phones memory. As an example, my card has a 2gb sd-ext partition on it so my phone now has 2.5gb of memory for apps and data to be stored.

So you are saying as soon as it is partitioned it is advisable to flash the new ROM right away? Also will it be good to TB the apps and pick them up after the install of the new ROM? Also how big of a sd card do you have? By partitioning 2gb does the phone become faster? Is that only limited ti 1GB and 2 GB or you can go as high as you want?

Thanks Boss!

The roms use a script called Dark Tremor A2SD. Many of the current roms(especially the big ones) have it included in the rom. I have a 16gb Patriot Class 10 card. If you are going to run apps from the sdcard, it is suggested to use at least a class 4 card. The stock card is a class 2 and can be used but accessing apps might lag a little. You can partition and not switch roms if you choose. I would backup my apps anyway with TB so that you can restore them easily when you flash a new rom. By using memory on the card and not in the phone you don't see the lag in the phone once the memory gets full. I don't think it makes it faster. You can go higher on the partition but do you really think you would use more than 2gb of memory for apps? :)

Thank you Sir! When you say the ROMs use a script called Dark Tremor A2SD is that something I have to install seperatly. Right now all I did was downloaded the Beta version of the Mik 3d and would like to install it on my phone. Is it the same way when flashing another ROM like to a cache and delvic cache and install or is there something else I have to do?

Thanks again!

I always wipe cache, dalvik-cache, and user data then flash the vrsuperwipe zip that can be found in the Roms and Kernels thread. Then flash the rom. It takes a bit to flash and then a bit to boot up but so far I have had no issues with it.
It also has DT A2SD built in so if you partition your card before flashing it, any apps you install should go to your sd-ext partition instead of internal memory.

Okay I am getting close :D Now once I partition the sd card where do I pick up the zip files from? Isnt the new card going to be wiped clean when I do the partition? I have everything on the sd card that I got with the phone. How will i transfer all that on the new card after the partition? I also got a 16gb patriot class 10.

Too many questions :D

Copy the card contents to you PC, partition the card then copy what you want back.

Zip files as in the rom file to flash? You can copy those when you transfer your sdcard contents back.

Thank you again Sir! Yes the zip ROM Files. The guide on XDA about how to partition an sd card should I follow that to the precise exact on the numbers etc? Will I be good to go? :o

Will do Sir! Just wanted to ask you what are the important files that I need to transfer at the moment? Anything in particular? :D

to be honest you can just delete the entire card and your phone will still run the same. for me i just transferred some of the app folders i wanted to keep, moved all my pictures and media, nandroid backups (obviously) and a few other folders and that is about it.

i got it working! Woah its awesome! my internal memory is showing at 384 MB is that good? Thanks for all your help guys!

Yep. Looks good! When you install apps now your internal memory will drop minimally as there will be a symlink stored there but the app itself will be stored in the Ext3 partition on your sdcard.
