Root ROOTING For Dummies

If interested in a2sd here's a great guide on how to set it up.

However if you don't have a lot of apps, IMO, it's not worth setting up. And if you have the OEM sd card, it's not advised setting it up...You can but you will probably run into issues.
 
Yeah they said they didnt have a lot but then said they only had 13m free...maybe a lot was in comparison to something with much more internal...?

yeah im just saying if ya get low on space, look into it...

Yeah that is strange they were so low, I must have skimmed over that or just completely missed that, so good points.

I know a lot of people on the forums that do use it and love it. Personally I just didn't like the way my phone ran with it. I ran it for a couple of days but got rid of it.

Yeah no problem. I've rooted about 4-5 phones in the last couple months, so it's pretty fresh in my mind.

I'll be rooting two more in a couple months. ;)

Oh man I wish! It would take a small act of congress and possibly a presidential pardon to get my wife to allow me to buy it. Especially since I'm not due for an upgrade for another year. :(

EDIT: Oh yeah I talked my inlaws into getting 2, so I will be rooting theirs when they get them. They were using a internet sprint card, told them to dump that and get these and tether for free. :D

Ugh im still undecided, i just saw i may be able to use 4g soon, not sure. If not Im going to vzw because they do have 4g here. If i get 4g and its ok i may stick with sprint and get a 3d...? time will tell. Im not due for an upgrade either...full retail if i get one. I'll probably wait a bit unless all our devs leave lol

Well not sure what devs you use, but Mik is going to port the new sense/gb stuff over to our evo's.

I don't get 4g either where i am, which sucks. You going to get TBolt if you go to verizon?

Chingy over in the Mik community is doing ROMs for the T-bolt, if that is the route you go. I'm not sure who else is, I'm sure more are, but that's all I know because I don't have a T-Bolt.

I hear it's a pretty sweet a$$ phone though.

EDIT: I read last night that sprint is going to be moving to LTE network, which is good news.

Im actually running mik right now, I like Koni a lot though he is my favorite dev. I try kings stuff when it comes out. Waiting on stable sense 3 port from virus.

Yeah thats the problem i dont have 4g, or 3g because the towers are always effed, so ive been using a vzw prl for months. Figured I might as well actually get vzw especially since they just dropped 4g in my city.

I looked at the t-bolt, its not bad. Almost just like the evo really except its been upgraded. It did benchmark much higher on both quad and linpack than my evo and that was stock compared to my rooted evo. Not that becnhmarks are god but it ran smooth and everything. I just cant justify buying that phone with dual cores on the horizon, feel like it should have dropped last year.

Looking into the droid bionic by motorola if it ever comes out, its dual core...

Think the 3d is lte capable then? so i could roam on vzw 4g also?

Which mik are you running? He just dropped MikG v.5 stable. Sense 2.1 with some sense 3.0 aspects in it. 4g working. I haven't flashed it yet, but a lot of people like it.

My buddy has the atrix and it's a PITA when it comes to root. No one has cracked bootloader yet, I think. Just an FYI.

Im running mik 4.62 atm. Its my stable daily i use.

4G is working? THought we wouldnt get 4g working on those, cool...i'll check it out. I havent tried a gingersense since they first dropped except the 3.0 kingdom of course. I dont know if i have 4g yet anyhow have to check when i get home. Its technically not here but clear website says im covered just not for sale...

Yeah i think atrix is at&t though but i get it, i def want a phone that can be rooted and has a good dev community

Yep, Mik said he got it working, he's not able to test because he doesn't have 4g but is sure it will work. Just put it up today, at about 8 or 9. Changelog is there as well.

Yes the atrix is at&t, but atm there isn't a good dev community since it just came out. They have root, but just can't develop ROMs yet, mainly themes they call ROMs. At least that's what I have found in the process of helping my buddy. I tried all I could to get him to switch to sprint and get the evo, but he's hard headed and now I think he's wishing he did.

Yeah i have a thread about trying to get kicked so i can get vzw 4g now since sprint basically gives me NO data. The potential to connect to clear 4g at home may change my stance. Im excited to get home and see...
 
Hello all. New to this forum. I rooted my phone yesterday, and it said "error Is your phone to new?" I rebooted to see if S-ON switched and it did. It now says S-OFF. Has anyone else had the problem?

So it said s-on or s-off?

How did you root? What did you do to get the error message? System update? Do you have a custom ROM?
