Root ROOTING For Dummies

Welcome to AF Falkroy! Don't worry, this is an easy fix. First and foremost, yes you're rooted and have unlocked nand access. Which app were you trying to run that required busybox? Titanium Backup? If so, you can get it once you open the app up; click on the "problems" box and download busybox. You can also find it here.

Can you give me a little more info on the blue Altell screen you're referring to?

Not an Evo but I assume its related to recovery...

Used the rooting for dummies guide and got the superuser app, but I was unable to use any of the root apps because i didn't have Busybox installed, plus my desire was still 2.1. Well, today I began to finish what was started and downloaded the necessary files to install busybox. First I wanted to make sure that it was rooted completely. Followed the instructions and got a blue altell screen that won't go away. Here's my HBOOT info:

Bravoc dvt22 ship s-off (in green)
HBOOT-0.98.0000
mi crop-051e
touch panel-synt0101
radio-2.05.10.08.11

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to assume you have the Motorola Bravo. Be sure to check out subforum Bravo - All Things Root - Android Forums.

Thanks for responding! The blue screen happened after I reinstalled the rootupdate.zip from my SDcard. After following the instructions for what to do after rooting, my phone failed to reboot. I replaced the battery and got back to the HBOOT screen, but any attemps to turn on the device results in the altell blue logo screen. Hopefully this helps. Thanks again.

Is there a recovery file you can flash from hboot? We have pc36img files we flash from hboot for clockwork recovery. I would try finding a similar image file for your phone and flashing it in bootloader.

What is your phone? Probably easier for me to find it :)

HTC Desire altell

The sticky in the desire forum is actually very good.

Here is the link to your Ammon ra recovery

Flash in hboot. You would save that file to the top of the sd card and name it PB99IMG.zip.

Can someone please look at their root sticky and make something similar for us, especially the tools section with all the handy drop box links...? it would be amazing

It may do a number of things. It might make you lose root, get part way through and fail leaving you with a useless phone for a bit, or not work at all. There are stock rooted roms out to flash that will bring you up to date without accepting the OTA. Check the 2.3 update thread for links.

Need help, installed mik rom genger sense latest version today. I have 300mb internal storage available yet if I try to install an app from the market or amazon I get an error message that says I have insufficient storage. I have rebooted into recovery and wiped the dalvik and cache and still no luck. If anyone has a suggestion that would be great. Found a post on mik's site that said I may ned to format my sd card again.

I just got done flashing this rom myself(MikG Sense 2.1). So far I am not having any issues installing apps. You might try and reflash it as something might have gotten corrupted in the flash.
